I was busy check the files when the door to my office burst open. I looked up to see Josh, my best friend. He is working as the Chief Marketing Officer in our company and also a share holder.

“Hey man. What’s up? It’s 7.30 in the evening. What are you still doing here? What is it with you lately that you became a total workaholic like your brother?” he asked playfully.

“Nothing bro, it’s just some important files. I have to finish it as soon as possible. And Ved is also not here so it’s obvious that my work load has increased.” I said without looking at him.

“Oh come on. It’s not like this is the first time you are handling it alone. You were excellent when he went to states for a year. This is nothing like you can’t manage. Come. We will go to club today. You know all our friends are coming today. Let us enjoy this evening.” He said while hitting my shoulder playfully.

“No dude. I am not in a mood. Some other time.” I turned to look at desktop again.

“Hey. What is it bothering you? I have been seeing you. Ever since you returned from Belgaum, you have been moody all the time. What is it that bothering you? The deal was success. Then what happened?” he asked concerned.

“Nothing bro, I am alright. It’s just your imagination.” I said trying to give him a smile. The thought of the trip to Belgaum brought back all the memories back. The motel, the police, the temple, the marriage, the betrayal and her, Aami. Everything came rushing to my mind. All my nerves fired up. My eyes were stinging with anger.

“Hey don’t try to hide from me. There is something bothering you. Tell me Sid.” He asked again.

I closed my eyes to control myself. “There is nothing to tell Josh.” I said irritate.

“Oh come on Sid. I know you.” He said raising his voice.

I was on the edge. “Fine. You want to know right. Then hear it out. A psycho police officer got me married at his gun point. Then I was released and my wife went missing. I searched for her like a mad person but I still can’t find her. Hell. I don’t know anything about her. Happy? Got any solutions?” I asked furiously.

Josh was looking at me with his mouth wide opened. He was in utter shock. It took him a minute to come to his senses. Then he started laughing.

“What is it so funny?” I asked annoyingly.

“Oh god, Why are so railed up dude? Anyway the story was worth for a typical TV drama.” He chuckled. “OK dude I get it, the work load must be really giving you head ache. It’s ok. I think you need rest. You go home and sleep nicely after work. We will catch up later. I am heading to the club. Bye.” He said and walked out closing the doors behind him.

I scoffed and sat on the chair. No one is going to believe this. Even my best friend thinks that I made up all these. Well it looks like so. Who else will get married like I did? And thinking of taking responsibility of the girl? And the worst is getting ditched on the very next minute after marriage. Bravo Sid, bravo. You are the only husband like this in the entire universe. I sighed. Ever since I retuned I have been restless. Every minute of the day I think about her.

I still didn’t understand why she disappeared like that. I understand all things were messed up but at least she could have said a goodbye right. That is what making me miserable, I still remember after venting my anger on the garland I ran to the railway station in the hope that she will be there somewhere. But it was in vein. She was not there. It was like she vanished into the air.

I really needed some time off. Just want to stay away from all tensions. But without Ved I can’t leave the company. And it’s like he is not going to come back any time soon. Last time we talked he said he need some more time. And he still didn’t tell me what is it he up to? But he sound serious. The one thing I am sure about my brother is he will not do anything without a reason. So it must be serious that he has to leave the company for this long. Taking a breath, I put a rest to my wild thoughts and again started to focus on the files.
