I had woken up with a sore neck and found myself lent up against the door still, I must have fell asleep here last night after coming back from the kitchen. Stretching all my limbs I looked over to my side to find the bottle of water on the floor beside me untouched.

I got up of the floor and opened my balcony doors walking out into the sunshine. What did I hear last night? They wouldn't be capable of hurting people, right? I thought, they are always so nice a little intimidating but nice none the less and what are they hiding from me that mum and dad hid from me as well it was all so much.

I was that distracted in my own little world that I didn't notice the little voice calling out to me in the distance. I looked to the garden to see Maya there with a purple bucket hat that matched her sundress she also was waving her hand at me which was covered in a garden glove. Beside her was Aunty Caroline digging up weeds, I smiled and waved back at her she turned back towards her mum and sat down on the wooden chair that was located in the garden.

I turned back around and walked back into my room and started getting ready brushing my long black hair and putting it in a high pony tail and put on some blue high waisted shorts and grey tank top I walked out of my room trying my best to put what I heard last night in the back of my mind and get on with my day.

I walked to the kitchen and made some toast. I sat down at the counter and ate once I was done, I wondered to the garden walking past the beautiful flowers and found my way to Maya and Caroline. When I found them, Maya was still sat next to Caroline smiling and giggling about something Caroline had told her.

"Bella" she exclaimed when she saw me standing only a few feet away. She ran as fast as her little legs could take her until she finally reached me, I picked her tiny frame up and put her on my hip she wrapped her arms around my neck hugging me.

"Hello honey, how did you sleep?" Aunt Caroline asked from her spot where she was on her knees pulling up weed from around the beautiful rose garden beds.

"It was great thank you for asking" I replied flashbacks of me getting up to go to the kitchen and overhearing my Uncle's conversation ran through my head. I slightly shook my head trying to push them to the back of my mind the best I could. I heard Maya giggle from where she was on my hip, I placed her down next to me.

"Come on Maya lets go help mummy" I said to her walking over to where Caroline was and kneeling next to her picking up the extra pair of gardening gloves and slipping them onto my hands. Maya kneeled in the spot between me and Caroline and was telling us jokes she learnt at school in a joke book from the library. It was adorable every time she would tell a joke she would burst out laughing at it.

We pulled out weeds for an hour, ten minutes into it, Maya changed from jokes to stories about her school she is in year one and apparently has a lot of fun.

Once the gardening was all done, Caroline told me that Bill wanted to see me in his office. I'm wondering the halls of the mansion making my way to Bills office. I don't know what they want to talk about but for some reason there is a very off feeling about it all. I tried to go as slow as I could. Putting off having to go to him but I knew that I wouldn't be able to put this off forever. After wondering aimlessly through the halls for a few more minutes, I finally decided that it was time just to get it over with.

I walked up to the tall wooden door that stood in front of me it felt like it was taunting me in away. I knocked and waited for a reply, seconds after I heard Uncle Bills voice on the other side of the door saying for me to come in.

I walked into the room and saw both Jeremy and Bill in the room, Jeremy was standing straight and tall beside the desk, while Bill was sat at his desk sipping some coffee.

"Take a seat Bella we have some things we need to discuss" Bill said while putting his coffee down on the coaster that was placed on the corner of his freakishly tidy desk.

The two brothers were so different from each other, Jeremy was always the party animal according to the family members they never saw him settling down I remember when my grandma would come visit us she would always carry on how his behaviour was unacceptable, I don't see the problem it's his life after all if that is how he wants to live it then so be it. Bill is serious but a big softy don't get me wrong he still intimidates me. Bill and Caroline have been together since teenager's high school sweethearts in fact, now the reason I dislike my grandparents so much is because of how judgey they are.

They don't like the fact that Jeremy is single and having fun, but they also don't like Caroline because of her social status, her family are normal people her mum was a schoolteacher and her dad apparently owned his own mechanic shop neither of those jobs are bad. But to my grandparents there the worst. They couldn't look past the economic status of Caroline's parents to see the amazing women she is, she's pretty, smart, sophisticated and has a phycology degree and let's face it, Uncle Bill is head over heels for her.

Jeremy started pacing around the room eyeing me out of the corner of his eye to say I wasn't freaking out would be a lie because I was. I immediately think the worse what if they saw me last night and know that I overheard them, I don't know what to think of them anymore. All I have ever been taught and witnessed was betrayal ever since I was able to remember, especially by my family.

"Uhm so is there something wrong?" I stuttered out fiddling with my hands that were placed in my lap.

"Yes, Bella there is" Bill answered leaning on his forearms. I tried to look anywhere but them but it was hard seeing one was sat directly in front of me and the other was walking the other room watching my every move, I sat there in silence all that was heard throw out the room was the clock ticking and Jeremys footsteps. My heart was racing like crazy and nothing at this point could steady it.

"We know Bella" Jeremy said from behind me. I knew it, I didn't want to face it, but I knew some how they knew and that I was in trouble. Deep down I knew that they are not ordinary businessman. After all ordinary businessmen don't have shipments of weapons to worry about and it scared me, what had I got myself into.

"Jeremy stop it you are scaring her, Bella we know you heard us last night there are cameras and we saw a shadow and didn't know who it was, you're not in trouble but we need to talk" Bill explained slowly and softly.

"I understand, I promise I didn't hear much I shouldn't have been snooping it was wrong of me I'm sorry" I said quietly.

"Then why would you do it" I heard Jeremy say venomously from behind me. I got scared and nervous Jeremy has never snapped at me before nor have I ever seen him mad and let's just say I don't think I want to.

"I'm sorry..." I tried to say but Jeremy cut me off turning my chair to face him.

"Snooping is bad Bella and you shouldn't do it, it never ends well for the snoop any way" he said lowly my heart started to accelerate his face scared me, it was blank and the look in his eyes didn't sit right with me.

"Jeremy back off now" I faintly heard Bill say to him my breathing started to get a little erratic and I was terrified everything around me felt like it was fading and I didn't know what to do.

"Jeremy get out now I will handle this" Bill said as I felt Jeremy get pulled away from me, I heard a door slam.

"Breath Bella, you're ok" I heard Bills voice from beside me I didn't realise that I was shaking until he put his hand on my arm.

"I-I'm fine, I'm sorry I don't know what happened" I said shakily feeling my breathing go slowly back to normal.

"It's fine Bella I apologize for his behaviour I don't know what happened" he said sitting down in the seat next to me. I don't know either I thought to myself Jeremy has never acted that aggressive around me before.

"So Bella what you heard you can't think too much of, the less you know the better and you're a smart girl, I'm sure you have theory's" he sighed I did, but to be honest I think the less I know the better as well.

"My business let's just say has a lot more to it than meets the eye, and I think it is best if you learn self-defence just in case something happens, and you need to protect yourself" he said to me. I sat there frozen not knowing what to do, my mind was running crazy.

"Do I have to? I'm not really one for physical altercation" I questioned nervously.

"I'm sorry Bella but, yes, it is for your safety" he said standing up and walking around to his side of the desk.

"Ok" I said there was no other choice I guess, it's not like I will be involved into the darker side of their business and I will probably never have to fight someone.

"Great you start tomorrow, so rest up" he said, and I nodded my head and walked out of his office and down to my room curling up in a ball on my bed and slowly drifting off to sleep.
