;if you want it, work for it
"AND MADDOX HUNTER HAS DONE IT AGAIN! BRINGING BACK THE CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THE FIU KNIGHTS! ENDING SCORE BEING 84-50! CONGRATULATIONS BOYS! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT NEXT SEASON BRINGS FOR THESE REIGHING CHAMPS."
The thing about basketball is; well, there is no thing.
It's a game and I live to play it - I have since I picked up my first ball at 6 - now it consumes my life.
Not saying that's a bad thing, but when you have a dad and an uncle who were all star NBA players for Miami Heats - it's kind of expected.
I didn't mind it as such - the constant pressure of being picked when it came to the NBA draft was light work for me, being a baller ran through my veins.
I lived, breathed, sweat and bled being a baller.
"Good morning, FIU Knights - what a day it is but does that matter when our very own Division One Knights, NCAA basketball stars are back on the court? NOPE! We're about to dominate this seasons championships. Can I get a whaaaatttttt-"
I switched off the engine to my beaut of G-wagon and hauled my ass into the gym, swinging my FIU duffle over my shoulder as I smile and nod to everyone who's acknowledging me.
Barely 6:30 and Coach already summoned us.
Nice guy, right? Sun's barely up and I'm already heading into the gym like a fucking pro.
Love to see my dad give me a compliment for that. Joker.
"If it isn't the shooting guard himself - Mr Michael Jordan." My best friend, Cammy Hills, grins like a mad man, laying a slap on my back as I walked into the locker rooms, gaining the attention of my other team mates.
I ruffled his black hair, giving him a nuggie in retaliation.
"Boy, you ready to conquer the court this season? We're about to fuck shit up, baby!" Jason Cooper chanted, doing a stupid dance and wiggling his dark blonde brows.
"Then you better make sure your short ass is running suicides until game day." Miles Carson mocked, shooting Jason a sly smirk.
"And your tall ass better make sure your defence is on point, none of these sloppy ass jazz hands you did last season." Jason sniped back.
"Oh, you wanna go? I'll put you on your ass, bro." Jumping to his feet, Miles squared up with Jason, both red in the face.
The sight was too damn funny though with Miles towering over our mini small forward.
Cammy got between the two and pushed them apart, telling them to 'quit being bitches'.
"You two fuck faces need to chill, season ain't even started and you're already trying to pull each others hair out." I say, laughing.
My team were untouchable. Have been ever since freshman year when me and my boys were drafted straight from high school and offered the scholarship to play ball for FIU.
FIU standing for Florida International University.
The blood and veins of NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB players.
I, of course, followed my fathers footsteps that were already imprinted on the ground and cemented over in gold. It was my calling so to say.
Coach Walker walks in, clipboard in hand, glasses hanging on his nose - looking around the room and landing his charcoal eyes on me.

"Hunter. Office, now." he orders, pointing to me, then jerking his thumb over his shoulder to the door.
The boys found it hilarious for some fucking stupid reason.
I give them the finger as I exit the locker room behind Coach.
I follow the greying old man into his office, stepping inside to see a fresh face sitting in the seat across the desk.
"Sit." Coach commands, tipping his head towards the black leather plush visitors seat beside the new guy.
"What's going on?"
"This is Eli Quinn. He's a transfer from NYCU, and your new point guard." He informed me, looking down at his clipboard.
"What about Ed? Isn't he our point guard?"
"Ed is benched this season until we need his stupid self -" He rolls his eyes. "I'll explain later, but I want you to take Eli and show him the ropes. Got it?" he tells me, "none of this bullshit hazing you jackasses do either."
Only Coach Walker could get away with calling his team jackasses.
I nod in response before turning to the silent point guard and holding my hand out for a shake, he looks down, then reluctantly takes it.
"Maddox Hunter, shooting guard." I introduce myself.
"Eli." His thick British accent seeping through a deep voice.
He looked like a baller, I guess. Can someone look like a baller?
Large, rough skinned hands, tall figure, lean and strong. Dark brown hair curled on top while the sides were shaven, dark brown hooded over eyes and a natural tan.
Definitely someone the girls are gonna take a second look at.
See, I'm secure enough in my sexuality that I can admit that.
To myself anyway.
"Now that's done, get your arses in the gym and warm up." he nods to the door, a silent gesture for us to get up and fuck off.
Just as I reach the door and open it, Coach talks again. "Maddox? Leave the fucking cheerleaders alone as well." he huffs, turning back to his clipboard.
I just snigger - Coach knows us ballers too well.
Heading down the long hallway and towards the gym, Eli silently follows behind. I swing the door open to the sound of skipping ropes hitting the smooth court floor and the thud of balls continuously bouncing.
Glad to see the boys are already warming up - even the benched players are shooting hoops and skipping like there balls were on the line.
I clap my hands and shout out a loud yo to get their attention, everyone stopping and snapping their necks my way.
"This is Eli Quinn - our new point guard - and we've been warned, no hazing, so don't give Coach a reason to bench our arses this season." I announced, rolling my eyes. "Carry on, fuck heads."
Miles, Cammy, Jason, Ed and Zane crowd round - introducing their self to Eli, giving him somewhat of a hard time, teasing and shit - but he handled it well - giving it back just as good. And here's me thinking he's the silent, brooding type.
"Check Steph White out - that girl gets finer every time I see her, I swear." Miles practically drools over the blonde bombshell.

"Shit, damn, who's the little brunette with her?" Jason joins in, leaning to the side to get a better look.
My eyes dart to the petit brown haired beauty who's smiling and talking to one of the guy cheerleaders. She was seriously hot, annnnd I had already fucking met her.
It was the start of summer and I was walking down the beach front line with my air pods in, talking to Cammy on the phone. Minding my own business, I ended up crossing paths with thee most beautiful girl.
I swear. She was a ten outta ten stunner.
Something out of a god damn pornographic dream.
Long wavy brown hair, sitting just above her tiny little waist. Hips for days giving her torso the curved appeal. Tight little ass you just wanted to grab, slender tanned legs you'd give your left nut to have around your waist, and although she was a short stack, her legs looked longer than Bella Hadid's.
As she walked past me, shooting me a small and I'm assuming a polite smile, I completely ignored whatever Cammy was saying, and turned around to chased after her.
Prompting her into giving me her name and number, she denied giving me this information but ended up sitting with me for four hours at some beach bar and drank herself silly.
Granted, nothing happened between us but a small and one-time make out session but I literally couldn't get her off my mind all summer.
"My sister." A deep voice mumbled behind me.
I turn to see Eli rolling his eyes.
"Her? She's your sister?" Jason asked in disbelief.
Cammy slaps him around the back of the head, muttering under his breath.
"Ah, shit man. What the fuck?" He whines.
I turn to Eli with a raised eyebrow. "The brunette's your sister?"
He nods.
Depending what kind of brother Eli is, he's gonna have a job an half keeping these animals away from her - me being one of them.
"Yo, Steph!" Jason yells across the gym, cupping his mouth with both hands. "Steph!"
Steph looks over, smiles and waves.
"New girl got a name?" He calls out, smirking away like a little man on a mission.
I was wholly invested as I never got her name either. I ended up settling for calling her names of endearment all night.
Steph walks over, sauntering her hips and bouncing her tits. "What'd you say?"
"I asked if the new girl has a name." he grins, peering over Steph's shoulder to look at the beaut.
"Yo, leave it out man. It's my sister." Eli back hands Jason's arm and sighs.
I'm listening to the conversation but I physically can't drag my eyeballs away from the laughing cheerleader.
How is she so hot?
"You guys talking about Tori?" a benched shooting guard's voice popped up from the side of me. I looked to see Mason Rose sliding in with us.
How the fuck did he know her?
Eli looked him up and down with a hard-faced scowl.
"You know her?" Miles asked, jerking his head the girls way.
Mason nodded. "Yeah, she's friends with that artsy girl, Coral. Met them during the summer, Kade had a bonfire and she was there." He shrugged nonchalantly.
Wait, I was at that bonfire, I didn't see her?
Idiot, you was in Kade's parents bedroom with she who shall not be named.
Oh yeah.
"And you didn't think to tell any of us?!" Jason exclaimed, punching Mason in the arm.
"Why would I? She doesn't date jocks." he scowled, rubbing his arm.
She doesn't date jocks?
But she's a cheerleader!
We're the only people she should be dating.
What the fuck?
This girl was bugging us all out and not in a good way either - no guy likes a girl with mystery - we like them dumb, easy and pretty. Simple.
Eli shot out a humourless chuckle.
"You got something to say, Quinn?" Mason confronted him. Eyes narrow and completely set on Eli's tense form.
"Matter of fact, I do - stop chatting about my fucking sister. You don't know her." He fired back. His fists tightly clenching, and face was a burning fire no one was willing to put out.
"Then spit it out, bro." Mason smirked slyly, knowing full well he was pushing him.
"You really don't want me to do that, bro." he bit out. "Stay the fuck away from my sister."
Storming off, he stomped over and grabbed the brunettes arm, dragging her out the gym Needless to say she wasn't happy about the scene and the fact everyone's attention was on them.
"What the fuck was that about?" Cammy asked, looking just as confused as I was.
"Nothing." Mason rolled his eyes and walked over to the hoop, throwing the ball in and missing.
No wonder he's fucking benched.
I glace at Jason, Miles and Cammy who all sported the same dumbfounded look on their faces that I no doubt had too.
They both shrugged so we all looked to Steph who was twirling her hair around her finger, snapping her gum as she flicked through her phone - slowly looking up at us.
"What?"
"You have no comment on what just happened?" Cammy shot back.
"Listen, Tori's a lay low kinda girl -" she tells us. "She isn't gonna spill what she doesn't want us to know. I'd just leave her alone if I were you guys."
She gives us a small shrug before walking back to her squad.
Next thing, the new girl storms into the gym and makes a bee-line straight towards Mason who was still throwing the ball in the hoop - and still missing - just as the ball bounced against the court floor she caught it in her tiny hands.
I nudged Cammy to look.
"I don't know what the fuck you think you're playing at but you better stop, or I swear I will lay all your shit bare!" she fumed at him.
I had to bite back a smirk - her accent was just too fucking sexy. I'd let her call me every shitty name under the sun sounding like that.
"You think you own the halls cause you're on the basketball team? You need to grow up and take a long fucking look in the mirror while taking off your rose tinted sunglasses. Stay the fuck away from me and keep my name out your mouth! Asshole." She continued before throwing the ball into his chest and walking off.
Well, damn. That sure told him.

You have such an amazing way to make the words flow and unbelievable descriptions. Unique characters and a great story line. All the small clues and mystery in the humor and fantasy just makes the book perfect in my opinion. I read all chapters in two days! Less than 48 hours even! I'm REALLY looking forward to the next update, the world of Aethernea is so deep and well thought out, it's beautiful and magical. God I can't believe how creative you are, so many small details with so many families and stories everywhere. Purely fantastical, I admire you." - astro-logical from Wattpad "I love love love Aethernea so much! It is amazing how you created this new world with different creatures, magics, looks, illnesses, and evil! I was blown away by your explanation of the Mana pools and how to weave magic! Simply stunning really! You are one of my favorite authors and Wattpad and I am so glad I stumbled upon Aethernea because it is worth all of my time reading!" - Adriana_V_Blade from Wattpad "I absolutely am loving Aethernea so far. I am certain you belong in the ranks among J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, Suzane Collinings, and many more great and wonderful authors. You opened up a whole new world for me, which only a few great authors have accomplished. While it's true I am pulled into each and every book, few are able to capture me to the point of inescapability. Though, somehow, you have managed this feat. I thank you for this and more! You are a wonderful author and can't wait for more to come!" - daughterofpercabeth7 from Wattpad "WOW! just caught Aethernea in gravity tales! Just when I was getting tired of most xianxia novels this appears and completely blows my mind! I really like the depth and the humorous touch you give the characters and it seems you have the storyline well thought out since you are always hinting about things in the past and the future. It has been such an enjoyable experience that I couldn't stop reading, finishing it in just one day and laughing my way through most of the episodes. But what keeps me so excited for what's coming is the magic system and the professions of the world you are creating. The magic mechanics have such a huge potential! They are simple but at the same time they open so many possibilities. Even though we still only understand the basics of transmutation and augmentation, I expect them to enable fights where there is need of quick thinking and skill, and not just brainless overpower of every opponent. In a way this makes me reminiscent about The Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson, which are one of my favorite series ever. The thing that sets Mistborn apart from any other series is that the mechanics are so well thought out that they could be used to create a super cool triple A video game and I cannot help but hope Aethernea reaches the same level or even surpass it. I really think it has that potential. Really hope this series gets the attention it deserves. As for me, Thursdays and Sundays just got a whole more exciting! =)" - AlexMLion "Your writing is fantastic and riveting, the chapters and character flow so smooth, and it captivates the reader with the many twist and turns that tricks one mind into thinking this is about to happen, when suddenly the exact opposite happens. You truly are in inspirational writer with a brilliant mind that can see and put words into chapters and into this one truly awesome book. Thank you!" - AshleyStaar from Wattpad "I loved this story, such detailed description and accurate words, both Kiel and Elaru completely caught my attention, your writing style is just beautiful and the plot is astounding and it's just the first episode! This kind of fantasy stories are my favourite, it has a lot of magic in it, rivalry and sense of humour." - BlackWhiteD from Wattpad
