《Breaking the Chains》Chapter 16: Breakthrough

Aegon soon reached his room and opened the door to find a sleeping Kuro sprawled on his bed. He was still a pup, even though he was already the size of an adult wolf, and because of that he loved to sleep. Aegon had no problems leaving him in his room since there was no need to bring him to class.
With his steps light like feathers he made his way towards the carpet in the center of the room and silently sat down.
Excitement was apparent in his eyes. He could finally make his breakthrough.
Opening the Electric Meditation Technique he started reading the description of the first seating position as well as the hand seals required.
A few minutes later, once he thought he had a good grasp of the concept, he straightened his back and closed his eyes. After a deep breath he moved his hands towards the center of his chest, lifted his right index and middle fingers and closed his left fist, then he placed his closed fist against the palm of his right hand and with that he completed the initial sign.
After that, he pictured every time he had seen lightning in his life which amounted to an astonishing amount of two times.
Reviewing the same memories over and over again, he started to focus more on the shape, the sound and the strength of the lightning blurring everything from the people to the mountains in the distance and even his own existence, sense of self and sense of time.
A few hours later when the sun was already far beyond the horizon and the moon hung in the sky above, he awakened from his meditative state but kept his eyes closed for the feeling he was waiting for.
He didn't have to wait for long, unconsciously, his eyes still hidden behind his eyelids focused on the tip of his two raised fingers where a very small whirlpool with even smaller lightning snakes formed for just a moment and then immediately vanished.

Following that moment, he started feeling lightning's ambient energy in his surroundings and with an excited smile spread across his face he changed his posture to simply having his hands placed on his knees.
Instantly, a particle of lightning energy close to him seemed to be pulled towards Aegon and slowly entered his body passing through his skin and settling on his muscles underneath.
He instinctively knew he had crossed the boundary into the second level of body refinement, also known as Strengthening Muscle.
Kuro, who was still sleeping, sensed the change in Aegon's aura and opened his eyes but he soon lost interest and went back to sleep.
Aegon himself was eager to jump and celebrate but he knew he could still gather more energy before having to stop and so he stilled his mind the best he could and soon more particles made their way towards him and sunk into his muscles.
After 20 or so of those particles of ambient energy entered his body he started feeling pain every time a new one entered and had to stop after the 28th particle fused into his right arm muscle because the pain was starting to become unbearable, being someone that didn’t pick other techniques because of the torture they presented naturally meant he wouldn’t submit himself to another type of torture just for a few more particles.
Aegon stood up and looked at his body. He could feel a very small difference, he felt ever so slightly lighter. He knew that each particle he absorbed would increase these effects but for now every new one would be more painful than the one before. Thankfully, the Electric Meditation Technique described that one way to lessen the pain of a future absorption was by consolidating the ones that had already been absorbed. And that is done by simply using his muscles, regardless of the task. Granted the more he used them the faster he would consolidate and the faster he could absorb more particles.

“This is actually really well thought out, while I train with my swords, walk, eat, things I already have to do anyway I can also lessen the pain of future cultivation.” He was fascinated by the genius behind this way of training.
“I doubt this Senior is still alive but he undoubtedly has massive achievements, not just anyone can create a technique this good.” He clearly had deep respect towards this unknown senior.
After bowing to the open manual our hero jumped onto his bed and instantly fell asleep, the process of his enlightenment which led to his awareness of the ambient energy and the subsequent absorption of said energy had drained him completely, he had been awake solely because of the excitement of crossing his first boundary..
Meanwhile, in a shallow grave on the other side of the world occupied by someone whose name was known by few when alive and now by none, an old decrepit body blushed and even seemed to be smiling.

The Calculator - Supervillainess Time Loop
What makes a terrifying villain? Is it ruthlessness? Is it how powerful they are and how many buildings they can down in one blow? Is it how hard they are to kill, contain, or get rid of in any manner? Is it their knowledge of a hero’s true identity in a world where secrets must be kept? Or is it perhaps how they seem to be perfect in all their actions, defeating the hero at every step of the way throughout to the last one, only to humiliate them one last time before declaring themselves the winner in the grand scheme of things? Isabella Blair is perfect. She knows all your moves before you even make them. All your ambushes are faced with traps and she dodges all your blows like it’s child’s play. Catching her is impossible because she’s always ten steps ahead of you. She says she calculated everything, but she messes up in every fight. She loses far more than she wins, sometimes a hundred times for just one small victory. Yet, she is perfect. How is that possible, you may ask. That’s because she has the uncanny ability to return to the past whenever she makes a mistake. All that’s left in the end can only be what’s perfect if all the realities in which you’ve lost are gone, after all. And that makes for one hell of a terrifying profile. Crossposting on ScribbleHub, SpaceBattles, and Wattpad. Don't mind the "Pre-Rewrite" Volume. It is there for reference until the story catches up to the chapter count via the Rewrite (and to justify the current reviews as there would be no context to them otherwise).
