《52 stories》Week 2: The hoodie

Virgil was in the kitchen, grabbing something to eat before going back to his room in the mind palace. Thomas just got back home after this party he had with his friends. It was fun, but still... Lots of people, you know what it's like. Logan and Patton were in the living room, chatting a little and Roman went to his room to ''get his beauty sleep''.
Virgil gave Patton and Logan a small hand salute before going up the stairs to get to his room. He was half way up when he heard footsteps in the hallway, or atleast he thought he heard it. He instantly got anxious about what was upstairs. Roman was in his room and the other two were in the living room, he could still hear their faded voices. He held his breath while slowly climbing up until he reached the top... Nothing. He let out a relieved sigh, only to stiff up again at the sight on his cracked open bedroom door. He could swear he closed it all the way before leaving earlier. He always double check. And now it was open. What should he do? Last time he told the others, there was nothing in his room and Roman teased him for weeks about it afterward. He probably forgot to close it. That must be it. He slowly walked to his room while trying to steady his breathing. A few more steps... He slowly opened his door, half expecting a monster attacking him... Nothing, again. He let out a yet another relieved sigh, shook his head and closed his door, making sure he heard the clicking sound this time.
He sat at his desk to eat his snack and that is when he noticed something unusual on his bed. He stood back up to check it. It was a hoodie. One half was black and the other had purple and white swirls. The inside of the hood was yellow and there was those big white stitches to hold the two colors together. It looked great and confortable, but it was a little too much for his taste. Who did this? No notes or anything. Who would take that much time to stitch him a new hoodie? He was about to put it away, but the fabric was so soft, he couldn't help but try it on. Once he put it on, a small smile appeared on his face ''Yup, you are my new pjs for now on.''
A few weeks passed and Virgil never wore his new hoodie outside of his bedroom. He really liked it, but he was afraid of how the others would react to it. And if they asked questions about it, he wouldn't be able to answer anything other than ''I don't know, I found it'' and it was too nerve wracking to only think about it. It was a normal day, with nothing to worry about so of course, Virgil began to worry. About stuffs because of reasons and he couldn't find his headphones anywhere to calm himself down. And now there he was, on his bed, trying to do his breathing exercices, but it was hard. And he was too anxious to ask for help. He pulled his legs up agaisn't his chest and tried to hide his face in his new hoodie and closed his eyes. Since the breathing exercices didn't seem to work, Virgil tried the other exercice Logan showed him. First name five things tha tyou can see ''Impeding doom... I don't think that counts... Umm...'' He opened his eyes a little to try and name five things and that is when he noticed it. The writings in the inside of the hoodie, beside the zippers. He took a closer look, it was a really delicate handwriting made of golden thread. ''You are okay'' ''Everything is going to be fine'' ''You are loved'' and other small and encouraging phrases were following the zippers on both side of it. He was so intrigued by it, how did he not noticed it before? Who's hand writing was it? Virgil was so lost in his thoughts and questions, he completly forgot his rising anxiety and the fact that he was acutally wearing the hoodie. He stood up and went to Logan's room. From all the Sides, he was the one most likely to be able to know who wrote this.

The Anxious Side knocked and came in without really waiting for an answer ''Hey Logan, could you help me with something?'' ''Sure. Oh, I see you decided to change your look again? It is... adequate and huh...Lit.'' Logan said, holding one of his vocab cards. Virgil's eyes widened, finally realising what he was wearing. The Logical Side's reaction wasn't so bad after all. Maybe he could wear it around the mind palace a bit more... ''What is it you needed, Virgil?'' ''Oh, huh, yeah... Can you.. Do you know...Our handwriting... Do you know, or like, can you...'' Logan waited patiently until Virgil found out how to correctly ask his question. He said that he could take a look, but when Virgil opened his hoodie to show Logan, the words were gone. He could swear he saw them ''How... When... What!?'' He tried to look closer, with or without the lights on, but it was gone ''I swear it was there, Logan! I'm not crazy, right... Right!?'' ''Virgil, it's fine. I believe you. But whoever did this, made it go away. It's really intriguing. Maybe if you let me look at it I... Or not, it's fine. I'm sorry, Virgil.'' The Anxious Side unconsciously wrapped his arms around him, clinging to his sleeves ''Well, thanks anyway'' and he stormed out of the Logical Side's room and ran to his own. While running, he stumbled agains't Roman, but he kept running without an apology. Roman let out a small remark about it, but when he noticed the hoodie, he couldn'thelp but smile a little.
Virgil locked himself in and sat on the floor, his back still on the door and started to chew on his sleeves, trying to calm himself down again. And there it was again. The golden writing ''You are valid'' ''It's okay to feel this way'' He kept staring at them and as his anxiety was going down, the words were slowly fading away too. He wasn't crazy, that's why he didn't noticed before. The thread were triggered by his anxiety level. Was that even possible? Who would even do that for him? Logan? he does help him alot when he is anxious. But that not his style. The threads are golden, the inside of the hood is yellow. Yellow... Oh no he didn't, he wouldn't? Virgil felt his anger grow inside of him. Did Janus made something for him in yet another attempt to bring him back to the Dark Side? Only on way to find out. He closed his eyes and sunk down into the Dark Side of the mind palace.
Janus and Remus where sitting on the couch, Janus gracefully drinking some tea while Remus was sitting upside down drinking something Virgil didn't want to know ''Did you made this?'' he asked the Deceitful Side ''Well hello there Virgil, We didn't miss you at all.'' Janus said without looking up from his cup. But when he heard the angry sigh, he looked up ''Awful new hoodie, it doesn't suit you at all.'' Virgil asked his question again, but Janus denied making him this for him. Yes he wanted him back where he belongs, but he wouldn't bribe him into doing so ''Then why is it your color in the hood and in the inside of it?'' ''Looks much more like gold to me than yellow, Sweety.'' As soon as Remus heard ''gold'' his head pearked up (or down), he stood back up and got a closer look to the hoodie, making the owner of the hoodie really unconfortable. After a few seconds, Remus burst out laughing ''Oh wow! He really did this? HAHAHA!'' He kept laughing and laughing. The two others Sides exchanged a confused and worried look. Yes this was Remus, but the laugh was way more maniac-ish than usual. Virgil shook his head and sunk back to the Light Side without any sort of goodbye. Janus raised an eyebrow while staring at Remus ''And who would that be, not that I'm dying to know...'' ''You don't get it either? HAHAHA! Really? It's so obvious!'' Janus thought for a bit and it finally clicked. He let out a small laugh and went back to drinking his tea.

Virgil had an idea who that he was and to be honest, he didn't want to speak to him. He didn't take really well the fact that Virgil left the Dark Side, but why would he use gold? Why not his color, orange? He was so lost in his thoughts, he didn't see Patton and bumped right into him ''Oh sorry, Pat!'' ''It's alright kiddo. Nice hoodie there, buddy!'' He looked up at the Father Figure and thought, maybe it was him. All those encouraging words to cheer him up while he was stressed out. Sounds like Patton. But when he asked, the Moral Side said that he would have loved to make him something so sweet, but he is not good at crafting, or any kind of artistic stuffs at all. Logan looked at them, apologied for overhearing their conversation and started to count on his finger while saying ''Gold. Magical thread. Artistic skill...'' He kept going for a few more, but it finally clicked in for Virgil. That's why Remus found out right away who did this. His twin brother did it. But why?
Virgil went upstairs and stood in front of the Creative Side door for a while, trying to build the courage to knock on the door. He finally did and rolled his eyes when he heard the overdramatic ''come in!''. He stood there in the middle of the room, not knowing what to say or do ''Needed something, emo nightmare?'' ''I... Wanted to say, thank you... For the hoodie?'' ''Well, I'm glad you like it!'' Roman's smile was really wide and contagious, Virgil couldn't help but smile back. He did like it. When he asked him why and how he made it, Roman said that after what he did for him and Thomas at the mall the other day, he wanted to do something for him. And for the words, well nothing was really impossible to create for him in the mind palace, as long as he put his mind to it ''I got the inspiration from that old Magic 8 Ball!'' Virgil thanked him again and went back to his room. Now he really wanted to do something for the Prince. He looked around, trying to find something and his eyes landed on something h ehadn't done in a long time. It was the perfect gift for the overly dramatic Side.
One day, Roman stepped in his room and gasped in surprise. Right there on his bed, an incredible amount of red, golden and purple pillows ''Oh my...'' as he stepped closer, he noticed all the embroidey on them. Crowns, swords, Dragon Witch and other magical stuff everywhere. He was so busy grabbing all of the pillows, he didn't hear Virgil coming in ''I'm glad to see you like them, Princey.'' He jumped, let out a really high pitched scream and dropped almost all of the pillows ''Oh, it's only you! Did you.. did this for me?'' ''Yeah, a small thank you for the hoodie...'' Virgil then brushed his hair with his hand in an awkward way, made his small hand salute and stormed out. Roman couldn't help but smile widely, he loved the pillows! They were so great and perfect. To think that Virgil took all this time making them for him... Roman couldn't be happier.
