《The Path》Chapter 3.3 The Consequences

The eight thousands immortals floating in the sky above the building stared fiercely at Yian Yu standing all alone in sky. He looked like a helpless golden-deer surrounded by wolves.
His bitter smile vanished and was replaced by a serious expression. He moment had arrived.
Tieguai Demon Sect, The Quan Body Cultivators, The Great Bodhisattva Sect, The Lotus Sect, The Proud Lovers Sect, The One Sword Sect and the Soul Magicians guild. All of them were going to be burial sacrifices. Gifts to his family.
Yian Yu was going to give everything he had to bury them. He had been preparing for a long time after all.
There was the building on which Jian watched. Directly above that floated Yian Yu. Encircling him were the eight thousand. And directly above him, in line with he building and in-between the circle floated the giant Gold Pagoda. It was the most menacing thing. The fat man gestured and it tilted towards him. The shadow blocking the light that came from the rift.
The old fat man spoke once more: “Saint Yian Yu, I have the greatest admiration and respect for you. You have a talent that defies the heavens. And an eternal will. But look at your circumstances. You’re seriously injured. You are surrounded by the 8 great sects from the Upper realms. You’ve got no chance of winning. You have one chance. Surrender the key. I will let you leave.”
Yian Yu ignored him. Making a gestured with his hands. A small round bowl appeared in his hand. This was not the object that had caused the turmoil. No this was something else. This was the treasure of the Golden Serpent Clan. The hidden last resort. Even they didn’t know about.
Yian Yu poured all of his energy into the Divine Bowl. He was quite proficient after all. It had been the thing that had kept him safe through the last five thousands years of running and hiding. The endless chase from the 8 clans.

It was a terrifying thing he held in his hand. It was the chrystalized heart of the Golden Serpent that his sect was named after. It was this heart that allowed his sect to grow and prosper in its early days, eons ago.
With his strength and the thousands of years he had put into it he was barely able to control it.
“Don’t resist kid.” A voice appeared in the mind of Jian. A light covered his body. He felt himself dislocated and moved through space and time. The light sent him safely away through the void.
Although Yian Yu thought he had been careful, he wasn’t careful enough and this was noticed by a shadowy figure hidden far away.
Yian had to be careful. Once he unleashed the bowl. There would be nothing left of the surroundings and of the people attacking.
“You think you can resist us, with just that worthless bowl” spoke the androgynous being. With a gesture the bowl of flowers in her hand floated in the air and formed symbols. But their face changed. A terrifying force was coming from that bowl. An energy that sent his senses trembling.
The panic spread amongst the eight. This was a life or death moment.
The eight reacted quickly. They summoned creatures. Activated life saving tokens, gadgets, spells, tools and weapons.
The energy in the air warped and went wild in an instant. A massive powerful vortex of energy appeared around the bowl. It blocked the Pagoda’s downwards trajectory.
Yian Yu spoke: “I give my all, oh great Serpent. Bless me with your power. Let me borrow your strength to crush my enemies. Our enemies.”
His body flashed. Dazzling and bright like the sun. His soul, body and consciousness were transformed into streams of force, will and might that fed the bowl.

The bowl floated in the air.
At this the eight turned and tried to run. Abandoning their sect mates. Each using some special transportation symbol or token to do so. They attempted to rip open space. Or if they were fast enough to escape back to the open portal.
The bowl expanded. The terrifying energies from the bowl erupted outwards.
It was as if a miniature sun had exploded. The space around it was nothing. A thin bit of paper that was crushed to nothingness. The eight-thousand who had arrived to watch a moment of triumph all tried to escape. All of them activating their special skills. Trying to leap to an alternate dimension or space. But that failed. The space collapsing.
The entire space was crushed into nothing. An entire segment of space twisted into a void of non-existence. It was as if a tactical space platform had exploded its entire arsenal deep within the planet.
It was a gigantic impact. The planet, planet B was a trading planet after all. It was a hollow planet that had stared off as two ships welded together and concentric habitable rings had been build around those two ships.
So the explosion took out several dozen layers of people. But it was lucky that it was near the outer rings. Most of the kinetic energy was sent out into space rather than destroying the planet.
It was a disaster.
There was an endless storm of energy and space that surrounded the planet.

The Essence of Cultivation
After experiencing five years of an adventurer's life, Arcanist Sylar Wershin now spends his days catching up on developments in Essence Studies and teasing apart the functions of arcane trinkets and artifacts discovered by him and his companions throughout their time travelling the realms of Resham. An unexpected accident during the study of his latest subject of intrigue, however, displaces him across the Planes beyond what any known spell is capable of achieving. Now finding himself lost in a realm rich in previously-limited Transcendental Essences, however, does he truly even want to return back to his old world? If nothing else, plagiarising - ahem, learning new spell structures by observing the local mages should prove entertaining. Sure, there were new dangers in this foreign world, but they wouldn't be anything a fancy bit of spellwork couldn't solve. Though, he would appreciate it greatly if someone could explain to him just what this 'cultivation' business was, why the local Mages were all muscle-brained freaks obsessed with immortality, and why they all seemed to lack any appreciation for the finer details of Essence manipulation. That would be nice.
