Chapter 20
The talk with Relumatsan
Once both Amnophia and Relumatsan had been inside the portal, they stepped into nowhere but a place when looked around was just blank whiteness. Not even a single object could be seen except Amnophia and Relumatsan. The Charmlettros had contacted him for the part of the meeting and anyway he had been observing this new gemnet.
He stepped away little by little then looking at the void he asked, “Why do you seek me Amnophia?”
“Maybe you already know that answer.”
“But do you?”
“I want to be a gemnet and am chosen by the elders and has Colson to be my wean mother and trainer. I am searching for a gem or a gem relational stone.”
“So you came practically to take a stone of your choice. What is that you have in return?”
“Where we, I mean the gemnet supposed to give anything in return.”
“Maybe you don’t know properly. You have to lose something to gain something.”
“So are you a gemnet.”
“No, I am something different. I search for gems and I actually sense then when someone eligible is by. I just take it and give it to them if they are eligible and the gem should search for that person.”
“So you sense something for me.”
“Now is the time for you to understand things Amnophia. You have grown under the care of a gemnet and always thought of becoming one but let me say, I don’t sense anything.”
“What!” shouted Amnophia with disbelief.
“Yes, you are a great fighter and besides you can do many things without the gem which you have already mastered.”
“But I can’t return until I have a gem, if I quit my name will always be a disgrace for those who bear it.”

“Who asked you to return?”
“Then what do you expect me t do?”
“Don’t blame me for any of this. Anyway there are other things that an elf can carry out in his lifetime.”
“Like what! Fighting besides smelly orcs or with them, traveling for rescuing and finally told to stay outside while they just fight.”
“I began to search for my gem eons ago but I still couldn’t find any but I learnt of gems such that I don’t know, my life still prevails.”
“You were also chosen.”
“No, it is the right thing of any elf to go in search of a gem. Colson was a gemnet, she can train the best but that doesn’t stop other elves.”
“So!”
“So, I will not leave you where you want to go, where your heart says to go. Carry on with your life.”
“But Mayoko.”
“I was searching for a gem, found a powerful source and found it was attracted towards Mayoko.”
“So it’s just like I failed.”
“Not exactly. I you wan I can make a powerful one until you are eligible.”
“And when will I be eligible?”
“You don’t need a gem to do things, besides just learn to meditate about power, about void.”
“Well I get it. Maybe I should return and fight the battle ongoing.”
“Maybe, but first learn that energy is always around you, look around, you see nothing. Learn to see things in nothing. I am sending you back.”
“Wait, will I be taught how to find gems?”
“When time comes, gem will find you.”
“I meant to be like you.”
“I was not taught Amnophia, neither can you be, it has to be learnt by feelings and emotions, heart and courage.”

“Well if that’s so…”
“You can do many thinks. As much as I see you don’t have much attachment towards elven community. There are tons of things an elf can do. You are just twenty or near about I suppose an elf lives up to seven centuries and more if you care for yourself. Go fight the battle, the King recognizes you. You will be granted honors and hence will be welcomed in every community. Find something new for yourself Amnophia, find something new.”
“I got it, Relumatsan.”
“Now you may go.”
A portal appeared and Amnophia was sucked into it. Relumatsan stood there gasping for breath because his heart fell that day.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
