Chapter 18
The recapturing
The castle was usually less populated but now it was filled with thieves and murderers. Many of them were on guard but most of them were drinking and fighting among themselves over a coin or two.
Mermokia sat at the throne and with him was two other. “No matter where, even if they are in a castle, they act like they are in a pub.”
“Maybe.” said one of them.
The guards were all sleeping, they were mostly thieves but due to the effect of drinks they were as such. The bars of the prison were locked and inside it were the real guards and the officials.
“When are we going to execute the prisoners.” asked one of the closest friends of Mermokia to him.
“They will live, after the ceremony many will fight for us, the rest will die.”
Someone passed through the darkness. The moon was near fullness but not full. An arrow flew, then another. The guards guarding the prison were dead.
The King had a tremendous responsibility over the whole of the realm and the castle was as big enough that its prison could accommodate a whole territory at once.
The prison doors flew open and all the old courtiers were out of the prison in the trial halls.
The King said, “Its better you stay out of this temporarily.”
All the master, King, Colson and the two elves were inside the castle and were killing the guards one by one. All the ones who were dead just vanished from there.
Revarin was frowning as it was his magic which was working overtime.
Marmok said, “Couldn’t you kill all at once.”
All the guards outside were killed and moved were of the lower level of the guild. Many of the prominent ones were at the parlor and were entertaining themselves.
The King gave a signal which was given after receiving a similar signal from the elves that all the guards outside were killed reached Marmok and Revarin.
Marmok and Revarin stepped in front hall’s doorway. Revarin spoke a charm and all the doors of the halls were closed
The people inside rose slowly, they were not the best of the fighters but they were able to come to consciousness and were ready with their swords. The King and other masters and elves also apparated in as they had already been inside the palace. The King was going to advance but Marmok raised his hands.

He waved his hands and hexed the room, all the fighters fell asleep except those who were with the King. But three of them were left. They were they new wizards.
“Finally a fight for us.” Marmok and Revarin said.
“King, you may leave us alone.”
All of them except Revarin and Marmok apparated out of there.
“Never saw a mage and a priest together.”
“Nice to meet you too.” said Marmok.
Marmok waved his hand and blades erupted from his hands.
“Krokon must be arriving soon.” said Mermokia.
“But he will be very disappointed Mermokia.” said the King. “How did you set of the alarm Mermokia? How could you capture that many fighters with so few.”
“I know people.”
“Many among them are powerful I guess.”
“Oh! But very feeble hearted. I just had a sword at Glinda.”
“Well.”
“She escaped but was not fast enough, by time she ran away all of your fighters were locked in and she couldn’t return with reinforcements.”
“A worthy move.”
Revarin undid the binding spell placed on him while Marmok was fighting the three. Marmok brought a scout of ghouls. They were burned by the other three.
Revarin jumped up, took his wand from his pockets and spoke the command word. The body of one of the opponent wizards burned to ashes. The other two paused for a second. Marmok waved his hand and ice wall rose around another wizard and the frozen body was destroyed to dust.
“Seems like I am the only one left.” said the wizard in front.
“I sense you sense good.” said Revarin.
“Those who run away are not always cowards.”
The left one touched the seal engraved in his chest, he was gone from there.
“I am a warrior now Mystcot.” said Mermokia stepping down from the throne which was not his. He took his sword from his belt and gave a smash in the air causing the sword to form a circle and slash again. It caused ripples of energy but none present backed from its effect but the King.
“This is my fight. Those who approaches the throne deals with me.” said the King taking his blade in his hands.

The other fighters among them turned away giving space for the two to fight.
“It’s always a wonder, why the King is not a warrior. You are just a soldier.”
“Maybe, but a King always has his own power.”
The King advanced with both the hands on the blade’s hilt and Mermokia just defended it with the sword. Both of them were banging sword against blade and blade against sword, they were trying to hit each other but none was successful.
The King did a double sword strike by taking a lower left defense position, making a half circle with his body and hitting with the sword at the right top part of Mermokia with tremendous speed which made Mermokia triple back.
“That ought to have shed his blood.” said Mystcot.
“Enough of this eligibility foolishness.” shouted Mermokia.
Mermokia waved his sword pointing it towards the King in a horizontally reclined direction and darkness fell over the King making him choke. The King crossed his hands and the darkness was dispersed. The King slowly walked towards his throne and was noticed by Mermokia.
The way they had fought had made the King positioned next to the throne. It was a trick by the King which Mermokia couldn’t see.
The King sat over the throne and spoke a word of command. A light appeared above his head, his dress completely turned to be made of gold. Red light flew down his body and an armor of red gold enchanted with ancient powers formed over his body. A crown appeared above his head, a crown of variable sparkling colors made of crystals from across the realm, each representing their lands and culture.
The blade in the King’s hand vanished slightly, dimming into nonexistence and power radiated from his body. Mermokia was thrown back to his feet his sword lay at his side.
A sword started appearing in front of the King, it being of the same order and design as of his crown. The King took the sword in his hand, pointed it at Mermokia. The King rose.
The King rose from his throne, slightly walking towards Mermokia. Mermokia sent many forms of energy of dark types one after another but they had no effect on the King. It seemed as if the energy was being absorbed by the King.
“You are just powerful because of your throne.” said Mermokia.
Marmok apparated into the throne room, looked at Mermokia with a scorn saying, “No. He is powerful because of his hear. Even after the ceremony you would not have been able to get his power.
Mermokia tried to apparate out of there but he was being held by the power of the King, Severus the first, Marmok brought by the power of the King too.
The Lady of Chaos came in front of Mermokia, smiled at him, drew a sign on Mermokia’s forehead and he apparated out of there.
“The Severus, The King.” said the Lady.
The King whispered a word, “Caddernod.”
Caddernod appeared out of nowhere and stood besides the King.
“You should not have called him, he is not at all powerful over me and the dark knight. I had beaten the nerve out of him in his own realm.”
“Maybe Serfera, but you may be put in a better prison.”
“Not anymore, it’s your turn to be.”
Serfera smiled, Colson being the gemnet took her arrow and shot it at Serfera but Serfera just caught the arrow between her index finger and middle finger.”
“Hello Colson, that doesn’t work anymore.”
Caddernod approached, he turned to be a point of light, the hall turned to be completely under light coming from Caddernod. Then something else happened. The Lady just smiled and the light started to get dim, it started to fade and everything returned to normal.
“Caddernod beware. I am on the move. I will return.”
The Lady dimmed away and everyone looked at each other. The King touched his throne taking his crown in the other hand and said, “Let all the realms be warned, be armed.”

If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.
