《A Tale of Sorrow and Love: Book I》Chapter 41 (Cora)

Kyzella flew as far and as fast as she could, but the weight of two passengers and weakness from blood loss overwhelmed her once they were a few miles outside of Doronhine. She half-landed, half-crashed onto one of many small knolls that made up the grassy landscape of northern Allomoria. Cora and Ford climbed out from underneath her panting frame.
“Thank you,” Ford said. He looked at her leg. “Are you doing okay?”
Kyzella winced as she ripped off the cloth at the end of her robe to press into her bleeding wound. The heat from Everin’s blast had also served to cauterize much of the injury.
“I need a healer, but I won’t die right away.”
Ford turned to Cora, who sat on a patch of dirt a few feet away, a look of shock on her face.
“What about you, Cora? Are you okay?”
Slowly she shook her head. No. How could she be?
Ford gathered up the courage to ask his next question.
“Were you telling the truth when you told Everin you could see auras? Was that what happened to you when you passed out back there?”
Cora nodded, but she didn’t say anything. It felt like she was in a dream. This wasn’t real. It couldn’t be.
Tentatively, Ford asked. “You also said that you couldn’t see suffering. So…what do you see? Is it happiness, like King Valen?”
Cora shook her head. She had her suspicions about the cloud of soft pink energy drifting around Ford’s body, but she was afraid. Once she did this, there was no more pretending that she’d just hit her head too hard on the stone rooftop of the castle. Once she did this, it would be real.
Cora took a deep breath. She extended her hand toward Ford and let the tiniest flicker of carnation-stained light drift away from his body and into her own. She felt a gentle heat and tingles of electricity run up and down her skin. Cora placed her hands together, and she focused the energy down her arms and to her hands. Pink sparks jumped between her palms.

Ford and Kyzella both let out a gasp of amazement. Cora looked Ford in the eyes.
“Love,” she said. “I can see other people’s love.”
Ford stared at her with an open mouth. “I…I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything, I can read your aura,” she told him.
Just then, a flash of light in the distance caught their attention. It came from the direction of the city of Doronhine. A beam of blue energy blasted into the sky, tinting the entire landscape with a faint sapphire light.
“Wow,” Ford breathed quietly. “I can’t imagine how much pain Everin must be in if he can produce that much energy.”
Cora didn’t respond. She looked up at the light. The entire sky was painted blue by Everin’s pain, by the pain that had taken her friend from her and turned him into something terrible. She’d lost him. Cora felt her eyes burn as they began to water. She turned away from Ford and Kyzella, not wanting them to see her tears.
Cora raised her hands to her face, and she cried, and cried, and cried.
To be continued.

The Tower Must Fall - Combat Gardener
If you're interested in a conceptual, ground-up rewrite leave a comment and tell me what you loved about it. I've got a pretty good idea of what everyone hated so there's no need for expounding on that. Gardener? A support class? This can't be! What was all my hard work for? Forget this world. Forget the System. Even if I'm a lowly support class, I'll take on the Tower and take them all down! Since the System appeared one hundred years ago, humanity has been divided into three: combat classes, intellectual classes, and support classes. Assigned at the moment of high school graduation, one's class determines their future. Rowan wanted the most out of life. A combat class, an intellectual class, either would be fine. When he is instead assigned a support class, Gardener, he notices the System is completely rigged against support classes. Refusing to give up on his dream of realizing his future by his own terms, Rowan challenges the Tower, the seat of the System and home of the Hero-King, in hopes of bringing the entire System to its knees. Season One complete. Permanent Hiatus, Pending Rewrite. Important notes: -LitRPG fantasy -Rowan is not perfect. He's got flaws, emotions, and personal issues to work through. If you want a perfect, overpowered MC who makes the right decision every time, this is NOT the work for you. -This story opens with a negative situation and an emotional growth arc for the main character. Please don't review until chapter 30 because the arc is not complete until that chapter. (Chapters are short, that's an average RR book's chapter 10) -No harem, no rape, no isekai, no romance -Questions? Please ask!

Spear of Aiste
It was a beautiful day outside. The sun was shining, fluffy white clouds adorning the sky. Birds were twittering, flowers were blooming, the trees’ leaves were rustling under a gentle breeze. Spear couldn’t see any beauty in it, though. He didn’t notice any of those things – except for the sun hurting his eyes. He fantasized about running away from the village and going as far as the end of the world; he didn’t believe for a moment that he’d be able to. He tried to think of somewhere else to hide, but nothing came to mind; he kept wandering aimlessly, hoping to delay the inevitable.

Love, Napalm & Homicidal Fairies
When Nasilain started traveling between worlds, she hadn’t expected to get caught by a police officer. Nasilain: Traveling between worlds always filled Nasilain with dread. All those men with their friendly smiles and hundreds of questions. What was the last movie she watched? What music did she like? What country was she from? If Nasilain could use magic in this world, she would’ve blocked the flow of calcium ions in their jaw muscles just to shut them up. The scientific knowledge she could find on the internet using the free Wi-Fi in one of the local coffee shops forced her to tolerate the occasional interrogation. But even hipsters were better than Seth, the beefy police officer that caught her teleporting. Apparently, she wasn’t allowed to lie to him, which was fine as long as he didn’t ask about the clone. Seth: Seth had seen his share of bad luck. On normal days, it manifested as a shoulder injury that got him discharged from his SEAL team or wounding a civilian while on the police force. But landing in a parallel dimension with elves in neon green pants, a cute mad scientist with magical abilities, and swarms of carnivorous fairies? That was a first. At least Nasilain promised not to use her magic to split atoms. Content warning: This book DOES NOT contain zombie fairies. Everything else is fair game though.
