《Rise of the shaman》The trial 1

As I had just fainted, I opened my eyes and what I saw astonished me. Indeed I was not in the real world but in my mind. As I began to visit my subconscious, I saw Werecat in the distance."What are you doing here ?
-I'm not here, this is just a fragment of my soul.
-A piece of your soul? Isn't it dangerous to separate your soul like that ?
-For other species if but not for me, we Werecat have the gift of manipulating the spiritual world.
-The spiritual world is the power of the Shaman.
-Yes and no. I was looking at him puzzled, let me explain the former shamans have the power to communicate with the spiritual world.
-What do you mean, they couldn't have lost him ?
-You don't know this, but the Urgals came from another continent, but they had to flee it for reasons that are still dark today.
And with this leak the writings that allowed the Urgals to communicate with the spiritual world were lost. Now they have less power over the spiritual world they need what they call totems to be able to use that power.
-Why are you telling me all this? -It's not like it's going to help me become a shaman.
-That's where you're wrong. I'm going to give you the right way to communicate with the spirit world.
-Really like that ? I said in amazement.
-Not the way it works, you're all going to have to take a test. So are you ready to take him ?
-Yes I am.
- But you could lose your life, are you sure you want to be a part of this?
-Yes.
-All right, the trial starts now." While he was saying this a chasm had opened under my feet and without even having time to say anything, I fell into the bowels of the world.
After a fall that lasted an eternity, I finally landed on my buttocks.

"He could have warned me and I don't even know what to do."
But we can also see th bright side, I got my eyesight back. Well, now I have to figure out what to do. So I started walking and I could notice something, the place where I was, was devastated and the earth was infertile. At that moment I had an enlightenment, the true Shamans were using the power of the spirits and the spiritual world and the spirits represent the elements so if I can summon a spirit it mean that I passed the test I think. I have nothing to do so let's try.
So I started my idea "Spirit are you here. It's not working, let's try something else. I summon you spirit.
I finally got some movement behind me. It was simple enough, but when I turned around, it wasn't spirits I saw. Shit, it's wolves. I started to run with all my strength and after a hard run I was able to lose them by hiding in a cave.
My mission was going to be more difficult than I expected but the harder something is, the greater the reward will be and I'm not going to abandon I the future heir of the ancient Shamans because of a simple wolf. Well my goal now is to find food fortunately I still have my sword on me. I waited an hour in my shelter to make sure the wolves were gone and headed for the exit.
But just before that I noticed that there was light in a small hole at the bottom of the cave. How could there be light in such a desolate place.
I was finally in front of the illuminated place when the image of the werecat appeared.
"If you're here, you've already found the cave. Well I'll explain everything to you, behind this wall is a universe that has not yet been eaten away by evil and your goal will be to protect it.

-What do you mean, by protect it ? I don't understand. Isn't it already safe ?
-No, because did you see those wolves ?
-Yes, they weren't like the wolves I know, how to say they were much more aggressive. -They have been contaminated by an evil force and your goal will be to stop the spread of this evil and if possible kill it.
-But how could I, I can't fight all those wolves.
-I'm going to give you the power of the spirits.
-What do you mean by transmit ?
-I will allow you to use them but as soon as you return to the real world you will have to communicate with them first if you dream of using them. Okay, follow me.
Suddendly a passage was formed in the rock and I followed it and once out of this small path what I saw will remain forever engraved in my memory. Waterfalls, grass as far as the eye can see, beautiful sunshine. It was the most beautiful and magical place I had ever unwittingly seen, I started to cry.
-What's up?
-No, it's nothing, I was just moved by the beauty of this place.
-So you can cry ?
-Of course. Why do you ask ?
-Nothing, it's just that you were alway acting like a much more mature person than a person your age would be, so I didn't think you'd be able to cry.
Okay, now follow me. I'm gonna have to ask you some questions. So I followed him without saying a word, soon we arrived under a tree trunk.
-Sit down, first, what's your favorite element ?
-Fire, I said without hesitation.
-Why's that ?
-Because I was stunned by the dragon's firepower.
-So you were swayed by a dragon, but I have to remind you of something. A shaman will be able to fully master only one element the other elements will be secondary only legendary Shamans have managed to fully master more than one element.
-I stand by my choice I would be a master of fire and soul because the Shamans also deal with the soul.
He then closed his hand and opened it with a small ball of fire inside.
-Absorb it and you will be able to control the fire but you will have only a minimal power because you will need practice to unleash its full potential.
So I took it in my hand and closed my eyes while the pores of my skin were absorbing the fireball. I felt like I had plunged my body into a volcano when I was about to faint, a voice made me lucid again.
-Concentrate, if you faint you'll have failed and you'll be dead, so resist.
My whole life passed before my eyes and it ended with the loss of my sight.
-No, I can't fail now, I still have a lot to accomplish.
With a determination that amazed me, I tore my tongue out to stay awake. I was now on fire and my tongue hurt terribly, but I had to resist and finally the fateful moment came.
Eventually my body started to swell up as if it was going to explode but I managed to suppress it. My body began to return to its normal shape and I felt overpowered so I opened my mouth and fire came out of it.
So I got up and used the Thum to ignite the surroundings. No, it's a troll.
-It's okay, you did it. You're ready to face them now."
So I got up and headed for the exit. Yes, I was ready to go exterminate the evil.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

I'm by no means a writter, I'm doing it purerly for relaxation and to keep myself busy. As a complete amateur please constructive critisim ONLY, I'm a bit of a perfectionist so i might die from too many negative comments :P lol. Will they fall into despair as everything is taken from them and is the little princess who she really says she is... Ps: It starts a bit slow, I felt compelled to start by building the world and characters without rushing into the action. Upload speed I'm thinking 1000 words a week ish until I get ahead and might do two extra uploads per week sitting at around 1-2 chapters a week. Enjoy :)
