《Aurelion》Chapter 19

"Just wait over here for a few seconds. I want to go check up on someone." I said as I walked closer to the infirmary door.
Brusken suddenly pulled my hand. I turned to him. He said "I want to go with you." He was looking a little flustered. I can see that he is trying to avoid being alone with a girl. Both with a girl who looked so happy that she could easily go crazy and kill someone, or a girl who could easily kill someone because she's really strong.
"Ok then." I pushed open the door. There were a few people inside the room. Most of them patients, or better known as losers.
I looked around the room. There were still some people here from the last few rounds.
Suddenly, Brusken shouted "Ruby!"
I looked at Brusken
Then, a reply came "Brusken senpai?" It was a young girl's voice. The tone was strangely familiar to me.
I turned to the direction of the voice. I found the hooded girl I fought against in battle just now sitting there on a bed.
Brusken replied. "Ruby! Why are you here? Wait... If you are in the infirmary, this means you lost a battle. Then, who did you lose to?"
The girl looked at Eff. Then, she turned to me. All a sudden, her face was filled with fear. It was like watching a horror movie with a pervert pedophile who kills their victims, where the killer enters a little girl's bedroom. Except this time, I'm the killer.
Brusken noticed her scared expression and turned towards me. Then, he understood what was happening. "Ruby, you were that little girl in battle with Mr Renikno? Wow... Oh wait, Ruby, don't be scared. Mr Renikno is a really good person."

I figured it was best if I don't get closer. So I stood where I was and said. "I'm sorry. It was just that defeating you first would be the easiest for me. Well, I could have killed you too, but I was thinking of Brusken watching me while hoping I don't go on any killing spree."
The girl got even more scared. Well, I was never good at calming people down anyways. Maybe it was because I always kill my targets before they even got a chance to panic in the first place.
Brusken turned to me. His eyes were a little watery. Then, he suddenly hugged me. "Big bro! You really are a good person! I can't believe you were thinking of me! You're the best!"
I looked over to Eff. She was standing near the door and staring at us confusedly.
Looking at Brusken, Ruby probably managed to calm down a little. She managed to break the stare and put her head down.
I got myself out of Brusken's hug. "Go help me ask Ruby where's the other woman that was with her during the last battle."
Brusken nodded. He walked over to Ruby. He sat next to her on the bed and exchange some whispers. Then, she pointed at the door. Me and Brusken turned over to that direction.
Eff's back was towards the door. She looked at us confusedly, as to why everyone suddenly started staring at her. Then, she turned behind and found a person standing there. Eff stumbled but quickly got back onto her feet. The person was a woman with long dark hair. There's a hole on her clothes where her waist is, so I got to confirm who it was.
The woman was holding two glasses of water. She got surprised when she saw me, but quickly got back to her senses and calmed herself down. She probably understood that me being here shouldn't be about raping or killing any of them. If I wanted to, I could have easily threaten them or killed them in the ring.

She casually walked into the room and went to the bed next to Ruby's. She passed Ruby a glass of water then looked at me. She had a "What are you doing here" facial expression.
I introduced myself with my stage name once again. The woman replied with her introduction. "I am Elaine, a half-night elf."
Ruby then softly introduced herself too. "I am... I am Ruby. I am a dragonkin... like Brusken senpai. We.... Came from the same village."
Listening to Ruby, I realized that she doesn't seem like someone willing to kill. It was just like Brusken with his ideals, trying his best not to kill anyone but ended up hardly able to control himself in battle. He didn't even flinched in the battle when a huge enemy came rushing at him. I came up with a hypotheses that dragonkins are an extremely powerful species, so powerful that they would even lose a part of themselves when activating their power.
"Anyways, sorry for spooking both of you so badly battle. I didn't even wanted to use it but if I don't use it, I'm probably getting buried now."
"Nah, it's fine. In a battle, everyone is responsible for themselves. It's their fault if they get hurt or die." Elaine said in an extremely casual way. It felt like a badass girl having random talks with friends while drinking wine.
"By the way, how did you recovered so fast from the battle? You were so spooked you even stumbled and fell in battle."
"I had time to think about the battle just now. Then, I realized you could have easily sliced off Ruby's throat. You could also hurt or kill me as I was too scared to even admit defeat. So, I believed you weren't that cruel of a person"
"You gotta thank Brusken for that. Without meeting him, both of you most likely won't be here anymore." I walked over to Brusken. He was still sitting next to Ruby while listening to my conversation. Then, I patted Brusken on the head. His face suddenly got a little red.
Brusken looked up to me and said. "Why don't we invite them to lunch too?"
I quickly turned to Eff. She was in a flustered angry state. Elaine noticed it too. She understood that the three of us were supposed to be on our way to lunch together. So, Elaine said "Maybe me and Ruby should rest a little more. You three can go on ahead."
Brusken turned to Ruby "Do you want to come along?"
Ruby looked at Elaine, then to Eff. After a little thought, she replied, "I'll stay with Big Sis Elaine. I do feel tired after using so much magic."
Brusken understood what she meant. But then, Brusken felt like he lost all hope of escaping Eff. So, I told him, "Don't worry, I am here with you. Well, unless you want me to leave the both of you together alone?" Brusken's face turned red again.
