Chapter 6
He was completely unprepared and surprised when he was restrained from behind with his hands pinned to his sides.
“Alphonse what are doing?! Let me go!” He shouted as he struggled in vain to get free.
Alphonse’s strength was greater than his, so he could effortlessly hold the struggling zombie with only one arm. He used his other arm to tilt the others head then quickly bit down deeply on his neck.
The small zombie let out a loud scream. He struggled even more to get free but this only made Alphonse clamp on harder.
“Alphonse let go! Don’t tell me that you are going to eat me?! Stop! Please!”
After seeing that he couldn’t get away, he closed his eyes and stood rigidly waiting for his painful death….again. Nevermind that he didn’t even remember how he died in the first place. After a few minutes of stillness, he started to feel that something wasn’t right.
‘Why is he not doing anything? It freaking hurts and he is just standing there with his damn teeth in my throat! Is he playing with his food?....That was a disturbing thought.’
Seeing that the small zombie had stopped struggling, Alphonse quickly swallowed the blood in his mouth and bit down deeply again to make the already closing injury bleed again.
“Are you drinking my blood?! I thought you were a zombie! Not a bloody vampire! Alphonse, you big jerk, stop biting my neck! It hurts damn it! Get off.” He screamed as his eyes teared from the pain.
Alphonse resolutely ignored the other, he continued biting down and sucking his blood until he couldn’t stand on his own anymore. The small zombie, who no longer had any strength, had to lean on him for support.
After a while, the taller zombie stopped and watched the wound close after he had removed his teeth. He could already feel the blood taking effect so he carefully and laboriously dragged the now unconscious zombie to the bed and deposited him on it.

Alphonse grunted and spasmed as the blood started to change him. He carefully wiped the tears of the small zombie, then dragged himself to a corner to brace himself for a tiring and brutal night.
He endured the painful change through the night till the early hours of the day.
The first rays of the sun were slowly peeking through as the pain slowly ebbed away. He glanced at the unconscious zombie then stood up. He undid the bandages on his chest while quietly making his way to the door.

‘Something smells good.’
This was the first thought of the small zombie as he regained consciousness. He slowly opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling dazedly.
‘I feel weak…What happened last night?’ He thought tiredly.
A noise beside him broke him out of his daze. He slowly turned his head and watched as Alphonse emptied a plastic bag filled with food. He stared dumbly at him for a moment before he remembered.
His anger gave him strength to sit up and march towards the culprit..albeit a bit wobbly, “Alphonse you big stinky undead! How dare you bite me! I trusted you and…”
The rest of his words were cut off as Alphonse stuffed some food in his mouth. He automatically chewed the food as he glared at the taller zombie. In response, Alphonse presented all the food to him. He glared one last time at him then sat down to start stuffing his face.
‘I’ll accept his peace offering for now. But when I’m done, I am giving him a good kick.’ He thought as he chomped on some kind of meat.
Alphonse just sat in front of him and patiently watched him eat. After all of the food was eaten, he slowly leaned back on one arm and rubbed his tummy with the other.

“Oh, that hit the spot. I now have some strength back.”
“Tsuki.” Alphonse said.
His hand paused in its motion and he stared incredulously at Alphonse. Just to be sure, he gave a quick perusal around the room to confirm that there was no one else.
“Did you just talk?!” He exclaimed with wide eyes.
“Tsuki.” Alphonse repeated.
“What Tsuki? What is that?”
“Tsuki. Name” Alphonse said haltingly.
“Name? is it yours?”
“No. You”
“You are naming me Tsuki?!” He asked blankly
Alphonse just nodded his head.
“That is a strange name…but whatever. At least I now have one. I had no preference anyway.” He shrugged.
He slowly reached for a half-empty bottle of water, took a sip then promptly spit it out when his brain finally processed that he, kind of, had a conversation with Alphonse.
“Sweet bloody Mary! How the hell can you talk now? And where did you get all this food? Did you go up the stairs by yourself?!” He choked out.
He squinted his eyes at Alphonse and stared at him closely, “you changed too! Your skin no longer has that grey tint! You are as pale as me now! And you are sitting down with your legs crossed! So you can move properly now?! What in the creator’s name happened?”
Alphonse just stared blankly at him.
“Don’t give me that! You just talked! You can’t play mute now! The only fishy thing that happened was you chomping on me…..Was that it?” He whispered with his eyes wide open, “ did my blood change you? Is that why you turned into a thirsty vampire?.......Is my blood magical?....Am I a zombie with wizarding powers?”
Alphonse looked at him blankly for a while, “Stupid.”

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?

Entangled Fates Book 1 - Quantum Beginnings

The book is now availble on Amazon (includes extra chapters): https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07W1534R8 Artificial intelligence was nearly mankind’s last invention. Still grappling with the repercussions of his injuries, and threats from a dangerous anti-augmentation political movement, there are no easy answers and threats loom around every corner. Alex must use whatever resources he can to escape from under the thumb of a ruthless corporation, while keeping those he comes to love safe. Chapters will stay up on RRL until Aug 10. It'll go up on Kindle Unlimited after that. How do you get those extra chapters I didn't have planned for RR? If you want them, they'll be in the published book. Book 2 will still make sense without them - I made sure of that. But... isn't $3 a lot for extra chapters? Think of it as tipping me for a good job and you'd also be getting my eternal thanks. If you enjoyed it so much that the idea of missing out a few chapters haunts you, I did my job as an author and made an engaging story. What's in those extra chapters? Resolving a few issues, set up for the cybernetic revolution, a rather intense sex scene with a new partner, revelations of who's really pulling strings, and a bit of set up for book 2. Complaints that people missed out on it when it was published here won't help (sorry!). I posted this for the folks who helped me shape the book, which is you all! (Again, yay!) But... Why! Why not keep it all on RR forever? My editor likes being paid for one. For two, I'd like the ability to get broader readership. If I break even on editor costs, I'll be incredibly happy. What about book 2? Drafts for Book 2 will go up around Sept 10. My draft of Book 2 is done, and it will be handed to the editor once Book 1 is published. Feedback has been even more positive. Beta readers devoured it and wanted more. I'll add a link to Book 2 once it's up on RR. I'm more or less, using you all for Beta Readers, so you get it before it's "canon" and edited. I invite active and meaningful feedback during this process. In return, you get early access to chapters. That does mean that the book content or plot might be adjusted before it gets published as I refine it. Sex Y/N? Yes. I heard the feedback, 90% wanted it explicit. You all will get the "full" experience. Will I dump all of book 2 here? Honestly, I'm not sure yet. At a minimum, it'll be up to the 75% mark as we collect feedback, much like what I did with book 1. It really depends on how good the feedback is and how nice people are. Lots of support + meaningful feedback to make it better = higher likelihood you get all the book. Will be it up here indefinitely? No, it'll probably go up on KU at some point, but I'll make sure there's enough time for a large readership to grab it here. Then we move to book 3 which already is around 60K words already. What about other adventures in the same universe/characters? Yep. Absolutely. Nothing ready to share yet though. I plan to keep those side chapters and more slice of life stories as RR exclusive. Since I'm carving this off in book-sized segments, I'll have to figure out where those disconnected story arcs belong. I'm open to suggestions.
