《Amulet of Infinity》10 [School] School is just a means to time skip.....

The sisters and their cousin have been at school now for around a year and boredom has set in. At first, the all expected the noble brats in school to pester them to no end, after all, they are the grand children of two royal lines. Unbeknownst to them, Jote and company had already taken the initiative to quell the lecherous boys in the school by filing preliminary engagements with the girls and both royal houses. As the girls hadn't yet finalized the papers, they were still technically single women of very high value.
That was before today. An enterprising young idiot had taken on the job of academy messenger, with a side of gossip for a quick extra bit of cash. Without paying attention to who was nearby, he asked for a silver for the information he claimed would upset the balance of the school. Fifteen students later, he spilled the beans. "The Princess Quartet never sealed the engagements!"
Esther was just walking by when she heard this statement. It puzzled her because she had been hearing about the Princess Quartet for some time but no one yet had told her who they were even when asked with money, jewels, and food. However, the next statement clearly resolved the issue as one of the boys noticed her and reflexively muttered, "run... it's the First Princess!"
It didn't help the gossip, as he was currently looking at a ring of fire closing in on his neck. "Uhm... hello yo-yo-your Hi-i-Highness!"
"What's this about engagements? And am I to understand I have one on file?"
The boy nodded right into the flame, before straightening up. "You all do. It's why the guys haven't bothered you. Especially you. The Duke would kill anyone who approached his girl." Esther looked confused, she had never paid attention to titles and didn't know who was a duke. The boy, fearing for his life, and seeing a way out with his head on explained, "Silver Duke Jote of the Foresight!"

After the flames vanished, so did the boy, but Esther did not even notice through the haze of heat spreading around her...
-- I realized one thing reading other novels, the school itself is less than useless in the story. It's what happens outside of class that really tells the story.

Primacy Online
Life on Earth was nearly eradicated in World War III, but using alien technology, the Patriarch of the Church of the Resurrection built a new society from the ashes. He created what he called the Constructed Reality MMORPG, Primacy Online, a world so real that the players could not distinguish it from reality. After outlawing wars between the city-states on Earth, he declared that all wars would be fought inside the world of Primacy Online. Thirteen hundred years later, the release of Primacy Online VI: Legacy of Balor signals the beginning of World War IX. Players from Earth's city-states will be locked in cryogenic capsules and play Primacy Online in War Mode. Their achievements in the game will determine the victory rankings of their city-states, but if they die in the game, they will die for real. Patrick Armagh found flaws in the game mechanics of Primacy Online and exploited them to rise to the peak of the game. But when the Church declared he was cheating, he was perma-banned from the game. Now, the Church has declared that Patrick and all the other perma-banned cheaters will be included in a special Church group for World War IX, where they can earn redemption for their sin of cheating. However, Morgan Danan, Speaker of the City of Mann, and the generally acknowledged number one player of Primacy Online, has a deal for Patrick. With her help and his method of cheating, he has the chance to become a virtual god within Primacy Online, but by taking up her offer, he will become an enemy of the Church. Like a significant percentage of Primacy Online players, Patrick suffers from an ultimately fatal, degenerative nervous system disorder. He has less than five years to live. With death staring him in the face and nothing to live for, he accepts Morgan Danan's offer, and once again, enters Primacy Online as Crom Cruach, a disgraced legend. Will Crom Cruach, once again, become a legend, or will he be destroyed by the Church? What secrets has the Church hidden inside the game?

Points of Light - An Oral History of the Collapse
Humanity endures. The phrase is not only an informal slogan of the reformed United Nations, but a rallying cry the world over. Even in the face of extermination, we struggled, we fought, and we endured. But just how close did we actually come? In our darkest hour, how many steps separated our species from oblivion? And are we even safe now? Were the mistakes made by earlier generations really so obvious? Or are they only so blatent when we look back with the advantage of hindsight? If so, what horrors might be staring us in the face even now that no one has the foresight to prevent? Drawn from thousands of interviews, as well as uncorrupted contemporary recordings and source documentation dating back to the early 2000s; Points of Light is a definative look at the last half century of upheaval, prosperity and carnage. It tells the tale of what happened, how it happened, who was responsible and most importantly, what we might be able to do to prevent it from happening again. This is a rewrite of a previously started fiction under a pen-name. Chapters will be updated every two days at 6:00 EST.
