The first thing I saw when I awoke was pitch blackness. I already knew I was dead, mostly because I'm pretty sure the human brain is incapable of recreating the feeling of being shot. I didn't really feel anything g it sorta just felt like you were in water, but it wasn't water it was a weird feeling. I was beginning to get bored when I noticed a small flame just floating in front of me. I could really tell what it was but it looked somewhat familiar. At first I thought I might be about to get sent to a fantasy as a good cgapion for some stupid reason. But then I noticed what it reminded me of, it was a soul. A boss soul from the game dark souls, I couldn't tell who's boss soul it was because it was so small but then for some reason or another the small flame decided to do a 180° and go from calm to blowing up in my face. I tried to scream but due to still having no lungs I settled for screeming in my head. 'OH GOD FIRE SHIT PUT IT...out?' I realized the fire wasn't doing anything except becoming compressed again into a somewhat bigger soul which I realized was a GODDAMNED LORDS SOUL FRAGMENT?!? My brain first thought then was 'well if it's the four Kings then I'm gonna get utterally fucked in the asshole but if it's Seath~? Based off of all the dark souls fanfiction I've read should have somehow made his soul immortal and always being reincarnated? Does that mean I'll be reincarnated with his soul!? HOLY SHIT THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME! Sadly my thoughts were cut off by what sounded like what would happen if a snake human hybrid somehow gained sentience. "Anoother ssstraaay sssoull?" the soul which I now figured out was the genocidal paledrake himself? "Hoow loong hasss it been~ ssincce I've lassst been able to talk to another creature?" considering all the weird shit that's been happening this far I decide to see if I could tell my thoughts to be said out loud. "Hello glowy fire thing?" Surprisingly my shit idea worked so decided to ask the dragon some questions "Do you mind explaining what the ever loving FUCK is going on?"

They aren't a deity of death, but one tracking an anomaly that can't be processed and completely wiped clean as they enjoy calling it. A fresh start, without shackles or remnants of what once was. Life is a price paid by all living beings, but like any transaction, we give it something in exchange for our memories, our feelings, our emotions, our past, and future, our ambitions and our dreams. Those all fuel the fire of creation, but so do grief, and pain. Every moment of suffering is the price, every living moment is paid at our death. Sometimes some have so much piled up that their soul and heart end up damaged. Be it loss of trust or being unable to truly live their life, those shackles are like an anchor that keeps the soul stable when on the verge of breaking apart, keeping it together at an immense price. Those unlucky souls are forced to be put into another life indebted, in the unlikely possibility of their defect healing themself in that new life. Their memories aren't intact after all—everything has a price—and that pain and fear are what they carry, while their partial amnesia is their shackle. This is the story of one such soul, of a girl sent into a world of legend and novel of fantasy, dragons and magic. A world away from what she knew, in which she will hopefully heal, be happy, and survive its side of darkness.
