《Starship Nyx》Chapter 19: Meeting the King

We flew forward to Imojima's system and there was a starbase. The starbase asked about our identification. I let Ja'riwi to answer the question. He gave his code to the starbase and they welcomed him. They asked about our identification again. Ja'riwi explained that we were green.
The starbase let us to enter. After two hours, we landed on the royal starport. We became seven. It was XRN-1, Cunoa, Jenca, Adolfo, Hana, Malin, Ava and me. We met the guards, so they looked at us. Ja'riwi presented us for them.
The guards were some women. They never have met us earlier. Ja'riwi asked to them about the king's health. One of them said that it became worse. I suspected that Toug'dim had the king's weak point. Ja'riwi looked at me.
We went to Haba's palace later. It looked like an iced Chinese palace with an African roof. I never have seen the same thing before. Haba's palace was big.
"Excuse me, I have to ask, layal," one of the guards said.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Do you trust in Toug'dim, the King's adviser?"
"I don't care about him, but I have a witness. Do you?"
"No, layal!"
The king trusted in Toug'dim. Some guards didn't trust in him. I asked them about Toug'dim. He ruled the king, but the guards didn't have any evidences. The witnesses wouldn't dare to come either! Why did Toug'dim rule the king?
Toug'dim was the member of Astowi. I didn't tell about him. We went to the hall. The hall looked like mixed of an Arabian throne hall and a Chinese throne hall. It was big and lovely. The military members came and looked at us.
We had the formal wear due to the imperial rule. Adolfo had a mess dress. Jenca had a long skirt and a v-neck blouse. Cunoa had a bikini and a long skirt. We human women had a mess dress with a long skirt.
An old vepoiw man went out. He had to be Toug'dim. The civil members kneed down and didn't look at him while the military members stood up with their left leg. We non-members didn't do something.
The king came. He sat down in the throne chair. I wondered if he was okay. He had a heavy and golden apparel. Yes, he had a big crown, so it was a jade stone. I thought that it was very beautiful.
"Hail King, live long!" everyone said.
"Rise!" the king said.
"Thank you, Your Majesty!" everyone in the hall said.
The civil members raised and the military members stood down with their leg.
"I, Toug'dim, the King's adviser, see that the non-third eyed monsters are here. Which are they? Send them to the execution ground now!" Toug'dim said.
"Wait," somebody said.
The princess showed up suddenly. Toug'dim became nervous to see her. She was not aware of him. We didn't tell something about him either.
"Is it you, Bonoa'mia? How?" the king asked.
"Yes, Father! Mara, this human from the other planet freed the slaves and me from Yoai Uma. She caught both the assassin and his son, even the traitors," Bonoa'mia said.

The guards brought the traitors, Di'zao and his son here. Poor Toug'dim didn't become very happy and wondered why they were here. Bonoa'mia asked to him if he was okay. The traitors, Di'zao and his son didn't look at Toug'dim.
"Send them to the execution ground now!" Toug'dim said.
"You also are the traitor," I said.
Everyone became surprised.
"Who allows the non-third eyed monster to say? Send her now to the execution ground!" Toug'dim said.
"Wait now! Is it true like the non-third eyed monster says, Toug'dim?" the king asked.
Toug'dim seemed to realize that he was spoiled. He picked up the handgun. I jumped on him. Malin took the handgun from him. I knocked him off. Everyone became stunned to see that I was very strong!
"Is Toug'dim...?" the king asked.
"No, he sleeps, Your Majesty. We need to interrogate him, but we need to investigate his house or work place first," I said.
"Do it!"
Ja'riwi guided us together with his men to Toug'dim's house. We began to look for the evidence. After a while, we tried to look for the evidence over the house. The house felt like a ghost, thought it was not. I forgot XRN-1, so I commanded her to scan the house. She pointed just at the hidden floor.
The guards opened the hidden floor. There were mass stairs. We went down until we found a door. XRN-1 scanned the room. She confirmed that it was green. The guards opened the door and we entered.
We found a letter that would send to Astowi today. It stated that the king was sad because he missed his daughter. We found a calendar. It also stated that Astowi would start the war next week. The situation was dangerous. Why would Astowi start next week?
The beautiful flowers! It sounded strange about them. I forgot them, but they were gone. Astowi grew possibly the new flowers. Why would they start the war with the toxic flowers and the atomic bombs? I didn't think that it was right.
Would Astowi give the flowers to the Kingdom of Haba and bombard? They would hate perhaps the Kingdom of Haba. Why? Oh no, it would be the racial discrimination! Hana winked at me if I was awaken.
"Sorry, I thought about the history," I said.
"What is it, Captain Mara?" Hana asked.
"We know how it was when our ancestors met the caucasians. I don't know if it is true, but it can happen here."
Hana remembered the racial history. We left the house. Ja'riwi asked about our discussion. I explained about our ancestors' first contact with the caucasians on our home planet. Ja'riwi and his men didn't know if it would happen. Ja'riwi guided us with his men to Toug'dim's work place.
We began to look for the evidence. One of Ja'riwi's men found a mail in the computer. It stated that Astowi would be ready to lead the army next week. The only question was where. I thought that it was not right. We went to the royal guards.

I asked to the guards about the first contact with the wild foes. They became both worried and quiet. Ja'riwi outranked them. He gave an order to them to sing out. They said nervously that they couldn't say it due to the royal family. We went to the throne hall.
The princess sat in the throne chair without her father. She asked to Ja'riwi about the report. He gave a report to Bonoa'mia. She became very angry. I asked to her later about the first contact with the wild vepoiws. She became quiet too and stood up immediately.
Bonoa'mia commanded the civil members to leave. The civil members left obediently while the military members stayed. I understood that the civil members might not hear about the top secret. The doors were close. Bonoa'mia thought about the history. It was a slow moment.
"It went so bad with the contact. The wild vepoiws refused to give up and it still happens today," Bonoa'mia said.
"Which were there, Your Highness?" I asked.
"Doya'ay, Gu'angamo, Toug'dim, Boitan, Iyab, Vaio'nyez, Wagio, Evogi'zo, Xelaw'osti and Zom'mao."
"Iyab still is on Yoai Uma's hidden planet. Toug'dim is in the prison. Where are the other, Your Grace?" Ja'riwi asked.
The eight vepoiws were mysteriously gone. I knew that we were in the game. The foes were just warriors. Where were the powerful pieces? I asked to Bonoa'mia if the traitors had some leaders. She also wondered.
"Guards, which leaded them?" Bonoa'mia asked.
"It is very classified, so we royal guards can't open the royal files in the computer, Your Grace," one of the guards said.
"Who can open the file?"
"It is the royal family and Toug'dim, Your Highness. Will I check?"
"You have my approval. I will give the royal signet ring to you, but you won't check about our and the citizenry's life."
"Yes, Your Highness!"
Bonoa'mia gave the royal signet ring to one of the guards. I suspected quietly that he would check about the citizenry's life. He would blackmail his rival with his false proof. I really hated the blackmailers.
"Your Grace, may Lieutenant Commander Malin follow the guards? I don't trust in one of them," I said.
"Yes, she may follow them. Guards, obey her," Bonoa'mia said.
"Yes, Your Highness!" one of the guards said.
Malin and the guards left the throne hall. I asked instantly to Bonoa'mia about the situation on Imojima. The situation was very good, but the problem was that only the unknown region still had the wild vepoiws. It seemed wrong. I looked at Cunoa. She shook the head.
I asked about the wild vepoiws. They were not used to the modern machines. The peaceful diplomats tried to contact them and then they sent the dead heads to Haba. I became very skeptic about the wild vepoiws. Bonoa'mia was curious about my mind.
"I think that it sounds strange about the wild vepoiws, Your Grace," I said.
"Why is it strange about them?" Bonoa'mia asked.
"The wild vepoiws seem friendly. I met the wild aliens like Cunoa. Why would the wild vepoiws send the dead heads to Haba? It is strange. Who sent the diplomats, Your Grace?"
"It is Toug'dim... Wait now! Oh no! Son of an aldo!"
"It is not over, Your Highness. I also think that the leader of Astowi is suspect of planning very big. The question is where. I have to interrogate Toug'dim."
Malin and the guards were back. The guard gave the royal signet ring and the paper to his princess. Bonoa'mia read. We waited.
"It states that it was only Aloma'aro Mo'axogi, the legendary gajeo," Bonoa'mia said.
"What is his ability like a leader, Your Highness?" I asked.
"He uses the miozz as a strategist."
"We want to meet him, Your Highness."
"We don't know where he is."
It sounded weird about Aloma'aro. He also was mysteriously gone. I asked about his background. He had had two parents, but he didn't have any siblings or children. His parents were deeply religious. He converted to Avigona, the other religion later because he was not into Jeia, his parents' and the royal family's religion.
Aloma'aro grew up in the poor class. His parents moved from the dangerous areas three times. He was a trained fighter and a skilled miozz player. Bonoa'mia's grandfather found him. That was everything like I needed to know. I asked about the religion.
Jeia and Avigona was not related to each other. They were the biggest and most popular religions. Avigona was very strict. You wouldn't eat food in two days and drink in one day. Jeia was soft. You had to apologize.
There were two more religions. Bonoa'mia and the guards didn't know about them. The freedom of thought act was a law. It meant that the vepoiws were right to believe like they wanted. We thanked Bonoa'mia for telling us. It was very interesting.
Wait, I remembered the shadows! They were like a ninja. Aloma'aro was possibly one of them. Who was the real king in the game? The leader of Astowi also was a skilled miozz player. Yes, I began to become curious about the leader.
I asked Bonoa'mia if we might meet the wild vepoiws. The Kingdom of Haba didn't have the power over the wild vepoiws because they didn't dare to make a contact. Bonoa'mia said that we could meet the wild vepoiws. We thanked her. I asked her if we might sleep in the bed room. She clapped her hands.
The younger vepoiws came here. They were attractive. Bonoa'mia said that they wanted to offer us about the pleasure. They were half-nude. I asked them if it was true. They said yes instantly, so they wanted to test new.
We looked at each other. Malin, Cunoa and Ava went to the bulky men while Adolfo went to a woman. They left the hall. Jenca and Hana stayed because they were married to the other.

What would you do if your world collapsed and you had less than an hour to choose a suitable role that would allow you to survive? Would you give in to despair? Paul choose to fight for survival, now he has to face off against predatory animals, monsters, and even the land itself all modified by the Mana System. Eventually, he will have to face off against a foe even deadlier than the rest. Humans! I feel I need to add this disclaimer because some people really get their panties in a twist when they reach the second arc. This is not a grimdark story. Yes, there are portions that are dark and grim, including slavery which is why I have the traumatizing content box checked. If you can't stomach a little slavery and torture, probably best to find a different story to read. Complaining that you felt lied to isn't going to make me change my story. If this offends you, leave a review.

The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.

It is not an easy task to balance the strain on her soul with the demands of the upcoming battle. In this world, the soul is not an incorporeal concept. To the contrary, the human soul is a physical object, an organ which resides in the chest of each individual. It is a great source of strength, but also of vulnerability. Hardship can leave scratches and blemishes, or even break the soul in two. The soul is each person's connection to divinity, to the magic which is ubiquitous to the world. It enables the cultivation of gods, but old legends warn of demons emerging in the presence of corrupt intention, and of hollow warriors, with no soul at all. There are two sides to every page.
