“You dare make me go to that lab of horrors?” That was Bear’s deep threat to Evan.

Rabbit was glad that he faced the wall of his cell; he continued to pretend to sleep while the rest of the scene played out because he had grown to hate the sight of his friend fighting against a man whom he stood no chance against.

“Get away from him, you monster!” In butted Wolf, with her notorious insults.

“Be quiet, both of you.” Evan’s stern voice said, “Do we really need to do this again?”

“I would never listen to the demands of a criminal.” Bear said.

Evan sighed, clapped his hands twice in quick succession and said, “I don’t know why you must struggle when you know it forces my hand.” The clanking of armored knights filing into the dungeon echoed through the cells, and Evan continued, “You continuously treat Doctor Worchester like he’s the enemy when he protects you from danger. The good doctor only pursues the triumph of all, yet you mock his wishes. One day I hope you will grow up and learn your place here.”

The clattering entrance of the knights stopped abruptly soon after Evan’s speech. Bear and Wolf started spewing objections and obscenities that rose so high in volume as to form a garble of angry commotion.

“Fire,” Evan said.

Bewp, bewp, bewp, bewp, bewp, AHHH! Blow-darts ripped through the air, the weapons a tactic that Evan loved to use against Bear and Wolf.

Rabbit rolled around at the sound of Bear’s full force roar. Rabbit had seen Bear’s wild dance to avoid the darts before, a swirling motion of arms and torso, and the final moment when Bear stopped his flexed body to realize that darts made it through his defence. Bear slumped against the wall with a look of desperation and defeat on his face.

Three darts jutted out of Bears chest and arms this time. The guards waited while the sedatives kicked in and Wolf gripped the bars of her cage with furry human knuckles and whimpered like a lost puppy.

Wolf and Bear also had animal bodies that walked bipedal with only a loin cloth as clothing and that made them family to Rabbit, so seeing Bear slumping, defeated to the ground, and hearing the tortured whimpers of Wolf made Rabbit wish that everything could change, but his entire life had been like this, so he was beginning to lose hope.

Soon after, the guards slid the gate open, picked up Bear, placed his arms over their shoulders, and carried him away. Evan followed behind in his black, servant suit, followed by the jingling of the key ring he carried on his hip, and a catchy tune he whistled.
