Joseph walks up beside the boss squinting, trying to see something in the distance. “Boss, what’s on those long sticks?”

The darkened man looks to Joseph with disappointment, ‘I suppose I better tell him now, before he sees them up close.’ The darkened man leaned off the side of his horse and looked the boy in the eye, “People.”

Joseph’s brow twisted in confusion, “What are they doing up there?”

All the men looked down after having been confronted with just how innocent Joseph was. Though they had seen it many times before, and all experienced it. Watching someone lose their innocence still caused them great pain.

The darkened man looked away from the boy, “They are dead.”

Joseph shook his head, “But why not bury the bodies? Why put dead bodies on sticks?”

Finally the Boss hopped down from his horse, putting his mouth to the boy’s ear. The boy’s face contorted as he was told what had most likely happened to them.

. A deep crackling growl came from White. It terrified everyone present, even knowing why the great wolf was doing it. They had come to realize that the great wolf was an extension of the boy. When he was angry, it got angry. When it got angry, he got angry, however, the wolf was far better at picking up on Joseph’s emotions than him.

The Boss pulled away from Joseph, “That is one of the reasons why we are here to—” The Boss had placed a hand on the boy’s shoulder, and when he did he was struck silent by what the boy said.

Joseph pointed to the fort, “White,” the crackling of her growl stopped, “Those people… food.”

The great wolf disappeared in a blur of white. Joseph spoke with a low tone, “How could you let this happen?”

The darkened man scoffed in irritation at the boy’s suggestion, “Boy, I can not see the future.”

Joseph looked back at the Boss before taking off, “I wasn’t talking to you.” The speed at which he left caused everyone to hesitate before following after him. Joseph eventually caught up to White before passing her. As he ran he gained more and more momentum all for one purpose. He kept his eyes fixed on the giant wooden gate at the front of the fort.

The men inside the fort went about their daily business, preparing for another raid. One of the men on the walls of the fort called out to the rest, “Someone is approaching us!”

The men hurriedly shouted back, “how many are there?”

The man fumbled for a second trying to gather his thoughts, “Uh, I-I, it's one man being chased by a wolf”

The rest of the men howled out in laughter, “All right everyone up to the walls so we can see this great entertainment!”

The men chattered amongst themselves while waiting for the wolf to inevitably catch up to, and kill the man.

“Haha, look how small he is. The wolf is half his height!”

“What kind of armor is that I've never seen it before, wait, is that a dress?”

“Don't they seem to be moving kind of fast?”

“Of course they are, one is running for its life, and the other for food.”

“No I mean—he's huge!”

“No that can't be the wolf is—that wolf is gigantic!”

“He's headed straight for the gate! Everyone by the gate brace for impact!”

“But I thought you said it was just one—"

Boom!

Somehow the gate did not break under the tremendous amount of force that hit it, however, the hinges did. It came crashing down on a couple of men that were bracing it.

One man who hadn’t been crushed by the falling gate yelled out to the others, “It's a beast with the body of a man in the face of a child. Everyone! Kil—” The men further away from the gate entrance watched as a body shot out, slamming into the wall and crumbling to the ground.

Joseph stepped out into the open courtyard of the Fort. now surrounded by more than a couple dozen men he shouted, “which of you men was it that put them up there!” Joseph pointed to the bodies on the pikes around the Fort.

“It's only a man, kill him!”

Arrows bounced off Joseph's armored chest While he looked at them in contempt. “You are not warriors!” After muttering those words White stormed in past Joseph with incredible speed. Unable to change directions unaided, she leapt up landing on the wall and pushing off it.

With quick slashes White open the throats of many men as she passed them, crushing the occasional head between her jaws. While White was slaughtering Joseph noticed one of the fortress walls coming apart and floating in the air.

“Are those stones floating?” That was the only thought he had before one struck him in the face, throwing him on his back. Trying to get back to his feet Joseph looked around at the fuzzy world confused. “Ah, my head, what's happening?” More stones slammed into Joseph's back and sides. starting to regain his clarity Joseph reached out catching one of the stones before it hit him in the head again. Despite him catching it still pushed forward, trying to strike him. Joseph looked in the direction the push was coming from. An old man stood there with a large wooden stick in his hand. Joseph quickly jumped to the side grabbing one of the gate doors and using it as a shield.

The darkened man rode on his horse, his men following behind him, “that boy is going to get himself killed! Lord please protect him he doesn't know any better!”

The men having finally reached the fort road to the knockdown gate. Once entering the Fort the men were greeted by savagely torn apart bodies, and men whose bodies had seemed to be twisted in unusual ways and broken in places that not thought possible.

Joseph stood in the middle of the courtyard leaning against the wall while White was up on top of it seemingly chowing down on some unfortunate soul. The men watched as Joseph slowly made his way to one of the pikes grabbing it by the face and ripping it out of the ground. He screamed out in agony as he lower the pike to the ground gently before walking to the end to remove the body.

Joseph now noticing the group having finally made it there, slowly limped over to them. “Help me get the ones outside, please.”

The group parted forming a path through the center as Joseph walked towards them, only one man stood in the path. The Boss looked at Joseph with pity, “That's enough boy, you put yourself in too much danger and could have easily been killed because of your recklessness.”

Joseph looked at the boss as he walked towards him, “please move I have to get the ones out front.”

The Boss sneered at Joseph, “You're not doing anything in that state, you're half dead already.” The men surrounding them looked at the Boss and confusion after having just witnessed Joseph rip a pike out of the ground by himself. The Boss rolled his eyes, “do not be deceived men.” The Boss put his hand on Joseph lightly pushing him. Joseph tipped over, passing out as soon as he hit the ground.
