《Outlaw Teens》Chapter 1

"So, what's your name?" Zack asked, once Drew was comfortably settled inside the car.
"My name is Drew." Drew answered.
"Hmm, and why were you being chased by the police."
"The government....they forced us to leave our house. They told us that the land was needed for building a government office. They weren't even ready to pay us good money. So, my parents declined the offer. However, it was a huge mistake. My parents...." Drew started sobbing.
"Calm down, Drew." Zack said, massaging his back to soothe him down. "I understand how painful it is."
"Why did you save me?" Drew asked, wiping his tears.
"I can't tell you anything much other than that we're the Rebels."
Drew's eyes widened, "You're the Rebels?"
"Yes, we are."
"Please let me go. I don't want to get involved with Rebels." Drew scooted away from Zack.
"Okay, your choice. I can drop you anywhere you want. Or...." Zack's face turned serious, "You can join us. Avenge your parents."
"Join the Rebels? I'm sorry, but I don't want to. Even though I'm forever in your debt, becoming a rebel will put my entire life in risk. My current situation can be tackled by laying low for a few days but becoming a rebel would mean that police will be on my trail always."
"Whatever you wish. I won't force you to join us. So tell me where I shall drop you."
Drew's face suddenly turned pale. He realized he had nowhere to go. He didn't even have any close relatives.
"I have nowhere to go. I don't know what to do."
"Well, I know I can't push you. However, not every rebel we have is trying to bring the government to their heels. Some are just living the life of an outlaw, free from the police and government. You can live a secure life even after joining us, if that's what you. Though it won't be completely safe."
"I don't want to join you, but I guess I have no other choice."
"In that case, you're one of us now. Let's go." Zack gave him a smile.
Drew remained lost in his thoughts after that for a long time during the journey. He was feeling nervous. He had heard about the certain inhumane things the government had claimed Rebels had done.
He had heard about how the Rebels had tortured and then killed their own, just because they commit a mistake. Drew had also been told that Rebels get all their money by robbing common people.

True, Drew had never believed such things. Nobody liked the government and most of the people always support the actions of the Rebels. Drew had always believed, like everyone else, that everything the government claimed Rebels did, was to make people dislike them. However, now that he realized he was becoming one of them, he started worrying if all that was said about the Rebels was true.
Zack, however, didn't fail to notice the worried expression on Drew's face.
"I had lost my father to the cruel government too." Zack suddenly spoke up.
"And your mother?"
"She died a long time ago. Nevertheless, my father made sure that I don't feel her absence. He understood me better than anyone else but I lost him too. That left me with no other option but to work for Bogart."
"Who's Bogart?"
"I didn't tell you? Oh, sorry. He's the leader of the Rebels."
"Can't wait to meet him." Drew exclaimed. "And also, what was that red prism that you threw at the policemen."
"Oh, this?" Zack took out another prism from his pocket. "This prism is useless and does nothing. However, it is made to look like a dangerous weapon, and it's very efficient for distraction."
"That's clever." Drew laughed.
"Yes, it is."
"I myself build gadgets."
"You do?" Zack asked with a sudden interest.
"Yes, I do. The gloves I'm wearing right now," Drew showed him the gloves, "They aren't ordinary gloves. You can climb up any building with them."
"That's awesome. If you try to buy such gadgets from a store, they cost you millions."
"This one barely cost me a hundred mecs."
"Can I see them?"
Drew removed the gloves from his hands and handed them to Zack. He examined the gloves carefully before giving them back to Drew.
"Do they work properly?"
"They aren't perfect yet, but they still do the task. How else would I have reached the roof of that building.
"What other gadgets do you have?"
"I have many gadgets. My whole bag is full of them. However, most of them aren't assembled right now. I use parts from one gadget and put them in another when I don't have money to buy new items. So, currently most of my gadgets are disassembled."
"You used any other gadgets when the police was after you?" Zack asked.
"Yes, my Upside-Down Bomb. If you throw them at your enemies, they see everything inverted. However, I haven't perfected them yet so the vision keeps on flickering from normal to upside-down, which ultimately leads to distorted vision. Though it still does the job for now."

"I'll like to see it when you have it perfected."
"I don't think I will be able to. Believe me, I've tried a lot."
"We have someone like you in Rebels. She'll help you perfect it."
"There is someone like me?"
"Yes, there is. Her name is Ava. You'll get along well with her."
"Are there any other teenagers like us inside the Rebels?"
Zack laughed at Drew's question. "Drew, a majority of rebels are teenagers only."
"How's that so?"
"Because there are thousands of cases of government killing the parents for not abandoning their houses. Nevertheless, the children always survive. Some, like you, try to escape while others don't resist and let the police take them away. However, whatever they do; we always come in between and rescue them."
"Do you think they would have killed me if you won't have come to my rescue?" Drew asked.
"No." Zack laughed, "They aren't that bad at least. I mean, whatever took place happened between your parents and them. You weren't involved in any of it. So they won't have harmed you. However, they would have sent you to orphanage homes."
"But that's still horrible. Killing your parents and then sending you to orphanages." Drew commented.
"The government indeed is horrible. Why else are we there?"
"So, how many buildings does Rebels own?" Drew inquired.
"We only have a headquarters. Though, we have safe houses all over Mecca."
"And how long until we reach your headquarters?
"We're almost there."
After three minutes, the car finally lowered its altitude. Drew looked down in excitement. However, when he did, he could only see rows of ordinary bungalows, similar to the one where he had lived.
"Is one of those houses your base?" Drew asked, disgusted.
"Just wait and watch." Zack smirked.
The car entered the garage of one of the many bungalows. All of it confused Drew. He expected a huge building with high security and guards.
"You guys need to work on the security." Drew commented as Zack entered the code that opened the door.
Inside the house too, there was nothing out of the box. It even looked simpler than Drew's house.
Nevertheless, Drew continued to follow Zack as he opened the gate to the bathroom.
"What are you trying to show me? Is it a joke? Because this can't be the headquarters." Drew shouted.
"Just wait and watch." Zack smirked, which enraged Drew even more.
Zack turned to the ceiling and said a code aloud, "G4Z9B6K1E2"
As soon as he finished the code, a part of the floor started going down, taking Drew and Zack along with it.
There was a darkness for a few seconds as the elevator went down until it finally stopped with a thud.
Drew and Zack found themselves staring at nothing but complete darkness. Zack slammed on his wrist band, and his phone screen got projected in front of him.
(I don't own the image above)
He turned the flashlight on his phone, which revealed a long corridor. There was a door about hundred metres away from them.
Drew followed Zack's lead as he walked towards the door.
"Stand back." Zack commanded as they neared the gate.
As soon as Zack stood in front of the gate, a computer voice came, "Initiating Body Scan."
A light ray examined Zack thoroughly.
"Member Identified. Welcome Zack Nigel." The computer voice spoke up.
"I'll like to add a new entry." Zack said.
"Please confirm pass code first." The computer replied.
"89K64N8Z" Zack confirmed. "Stand in front of the door now." Zack urged Drew.
Drew did as he was told. As soon as he neared the door, the light ray came once again, scanning Drew.
"Please speak your name." the computer voice requested.
"Drew Nibern." Drew answered.
"Entry added. Welcome Drew Nibern."
The door then slid open, revealing a sight of plain marvel in front of Drew's eyes.
A huge hall lay in front of him; full of life. He could see people - men and women, adults and kids alike. They were chatting, eating and drinking in groups. All of them laughing and smiling.
The hall was larger than any auditorium he had seen. There were about hundred tables. The walls were made of metal, and a huge glass on the ceiling revealed the sky. Or, so Drew thought until he realized that they were underground.
Zack, recognizing Drew's confused look gave him the explanation.
"It's not a glass but a screen that displays sky. It is done to make sure you'll still see the sky when you're underground." Zack explained.
"Wow! That's so great." Drew exclaimed.
"So, what do you say about this place?"
"It's awesome."
"Welcome to your new home, Drew. Welcome to the Rebels."
