《The Key of Destiny》Chapter 11.2 - The Other Guardian

Lunaluz, that was the name of the second under Ailfryd. The dorean may have only one Guardian, but there was always another in that line of succession, someone apt who could take over if the situation required it. Wearing a beige tunic with various drawings of waves and leaves, Lunaluz was of the same height and would pass through a human one if not by his golden eyes, his ears bitten or had catchons. With whiskers next to his nose, his orange fur gave him a most interesting look, although he would not want to find it at night.
Once she left the heart of the Galya, Ailfryd explained that she had an appointment with her. Although that book burned him in his hands for being read, and even the elthean was aware of it, he needed to get in control of his magic as soon as possible. He might now be able for his peers to evolve without the same restrictions as before, but he could not die as the other night did. After all, they would be safe there, although once they went outside they would have to be careful at all times.
Lunaluz waited for him in his cabin, right with a breakfast for those present that he didn't take long to devour. The possibility of continuing to sleep was tempting, but he had too much to do to ignore his obligations. He had omitted his “visit” to the heart of the Galya, following Ailfryd’s request, although at another time he considered telling it. He trusted them, even when it was not something that all the elthean knew, they were trustworthy, it gave just as much of what it was. With the elthean watching them a short distance, they had gone out to the backyard, where the terrain was working to train, even having a small open pavilion to sit down and meditate on. He was unaware of what use he had been given in the past, however, having such a place could not do better. No one would bother them there, nor what they did, and considering how noisy it could be, be more cautious than apologetic for what would happen.
"Why do I have to start with my eyes closed?” Finnian muted.
"Because you're too used to using them," Lunaluz replied.
Even after a week, what I would have given at any time to get used to, he continued to have certain problems. After all, he always found something new to learn that was against everything he had been taught, however open his mind had. If added to that his small "explosion", Lunaluz's work was quite concrete: To make it connect with his magic in a productive way.

"Your previous experiences have created a blockage, and that makes your magic only arise in times of extreme need," Lunaluz said, tapping his forehead.
Like the fight against Ailfryd. It was logical that there was a link between Signs and elthean. After all, if they could evolve with their help, why go a step further with their connection? While seeing, hearing, and even perceiving what they felt should not be strange sensations, connecting with three minds was exhausting. After all, he was not processing what he had around him, but the same from the perspective of his colleagues.
"Your eyes inform you of something, but it is your heart that you must listen.”
"It still doesn't bring anything that you haven't told me," admitted Finnian, containing the urge to snout, while the bandage was on.
His world plunged back into the shadows, preventing him from seeing the surroundings around him, and to his surprise, he couldn't connect with his peers either.
"I guess that's a good sign," Lunaluz conceded, letting out a joyful laugh. Did you think I wouldn't take something like that into account?
The bandage prevented him from seeing with his eyes, of course, but also by those of the elthean. Even when it had happened before, their closeness encouraged him to do so, almost without he could avoid it, and because of how bad he felt he also tried to contain it. However, with a clear mind and no imminent danger, he could soon focus on what the guardian conveyed to him.
"Focus on your breathing. Take a deep breath, capturing all the air you have," Lunaluz continued with a purr.
Five seconds, he noticed a bell ringing at that moment, telling him that it will expire slowly and calmly. After repeating it a couple of times, her pulse was reduced, listening more than her words. The forest was alive, beyond the movement that its inhabitants could initiate. Something more than the air moved the branches, something more than the land gave shelter to its roots or dwelt in the water.
Magic in its highest purity, palpitations like a human heart where there was life. It could be in different forms, each more unlikely than the previous one, but it was there, as present as he was, as similar at the same time.
"In the beginning, beyond when terms like Primordial Forces were heard, the elthean manipulated the energy at its origin, giving it the forms we know now.”
Similar to their world with the signs of the zodiac, the elthian were born with a Primordial Force. Four were for the elements of air, water, earth and fire, while the fifth symbolized the star. Even when there were other forces that could not be categorized like this, it was the basis on which they moved and with which the eltheans were born, the same one with which he was connecting.

"Now, I want you to take my hand," Lunaluz said, grabbing his gently, without scaring him. “Let's move in circles, without moving from here.”
With a smooth engagement, the idea of that wasn't to make you dizzy, but to let you connect with something more than your peers. With bare feet, feeling the land and vegetation to every step he gave, the turns that they both made raised air, one that surrounded them with grace. Then, following their indications, they began to separate, now only by rubbing their forearms while raising a hand in a position that, if their mind was right, could prove somewhat comical.
"With the palm open, extended towards the sky," Lunaluz continued. “Draw circles with the other as if picking up the wind.”
Around him, just as if it were a hoop. It was not a matter of speed, nor of shaking them. Nor do they create a sphere of air, as they asked him several days ago. It was to let out what existed inside him, manipulate that power to later be able to shape him. Feeling a tingling in both hands, the urge to remove the bandage was next to him, when then the impossible happened.
Even with his eyes closed, he was certain that his hands gave off an energy that on this occasion did not seek to leave unexpectedly, but remained with him.
"Magic is dangerous, just like fire and many other aspects of this life. Anyone who forgets it can get hurt," Lunaluz said. “It's part of you, but you must respect and treasure it, just like your other qualities.”
Then, after a warning, Lunaluz withdrew the bandage, allowing him to see his little work. A cluster of blue and golden energy, no bigger than a cookie, wrapped his fingers, moving with the gestures he made, stroking his skin and reminding him that there were too many things he didn't know.
"See? You listened to your heart, there is nothing to fear," Lunaluz said, pronouncing a genuine smile, closing his eyes for an instant.
"It's… Strange to do something like that” Finnian babble, still watching his hands, “and not at the same time. As if I had awakened something that had been asleep for a long time.”
"I'm afraid that, in your case, that's the case," she admitted.
Because your destiny is there even if you ignore it, magic is always part of it as well as the air you breathe. The sparks in his hand reflected that it was enough, that it was someone worth it and that it was in an appropriate place. What he always dreamed and never considered would happen was true. And even though the darkness would land him, as long as he continued to believe in him and those around him, they would be unstoppable.
"How do you feel?" Lunaluz said.
"I still don't give credit, even if it's more real now than ever," Finnian admitted, feeling his cheeks lit. “I would love to try something more, not just leave it now.”
"That's what we're here for, especially when you're moving forward. Although before...” she began to express, addressing her viewers. “What do you think?”
There were no words on this occasion, but instead he heard cries of jubilation, any noise one could imagine with what to celebrate. For him it was nothing more than taking a few steps, but Aer, Rune, Leith and Ead saw him with other eyes. The moment of truth had come to Elthea, and only a few were born to make history. They were part of that movement and after the dangers they had faced, he finally began to take his destiny by the horns.
With the eyes illuminated, the back of his arm was passed through them, wiping tears. In this case, however, I was not crying for fear, concern or tiredness, but because for the first time I had long felt that it was not a rare bug, belonging to a place. Having real friends now, even if they were from a world outside his own, was what he needed most.
"Shall we continue?" Lunaluz said, such calm and smiling as before. "There is still much to do.”
"I have all the time around the world," Finnian admitted.
"This is just the beginning, and there will be things you won't be able to do now," Lunaluz warned.
"I'm not worry," Finnian said, nodding safely.
It might not be right, or not at all, but it would not help anyone if he did not prepare, and that would get it there. After all, which man did not need to practice and learn to achieve his dream? None, right?

Is it a mistake to challenge fate, after all? *** The world-building is set upon on the universal scale, with dungeon and old-style fantasy. It has a progression that follows with the consistency of a dungeon setting, although it's not what you call a dungeon, but a function of a crystal. There's a lot to take in this novel, but that's all within my intention. I have always enjoyed challenging conventional ideas. The cover is not mine, it's just temporary.
