《Debts Come Due!》Day-27 The gilded ones.

Having met the the Dragonlord and gotten off mostly scot free the gang were going to celebrate. They did not know it yet but impressing a Dragon could be worse then insulting one. It was certinly worse
They tended to be rather unreasionable with their demands considering the fact that no one could really tell them no. It was always more of a 'do what I say or die' type of situation when it came to dealing with those old bastards. That was simply the way of things in this world where gods and monsters could take a great intrest in the goings on of the world at large, and there was no changing that fact.
Even then it was better a Dragons whims then a Giants rage any day of the week. When the mountians started moving, the world would quickly come to know that all the might you can throw at them will not be enough to stop their endless charge. What would the world look like after they next raged and changed all that is. Till that time came they were content to just be jovial and laugh at the world. All they could hope for was that it would continue like that for some time yet.
That it would not change so drastically within their lifetimes. The way things had been going recently having that bit of bad luck with the good of meeting the Dragon was just like them, that was for sure.
"Tonight we dine like kings! I always wanted to say that." Embrda proclaimed to the entire adventures guild. He was having the time of his life and ordering the most expensive magical drinks that he could find on the menu.
"What do kings even eat, it must be something really fancy for everyone to want to eat like them." His sister stated with a tilt to her head. She was drinking three people under the table at once and having a grand time of it.

"I would assume something like unicorn steaks or some other nonsense like that. Prehaps the rumproast of a minotaur." Tess joked. It was rare for him to tell jokes but when he did people laughed. He had this deadpan way of saying something that just made you picture it in the most ridiculous way possible.
"What ever we will go and start setting up our tavern later today. Where are we going to find someone to run the thing? That will be important, can't have anyone that we do not trust incharge of something so important to us now can we." Sasha said after a round of drinks had gone down the drain.
"The leader has a good point. We have what amounts to the express permission of the Dragonlord to build this guild and a perfect place to do so, lets not mess this up by doing a shoddy job." Smithy added for everyone to here. He liked to add his own thoughts to the debate that went down on occasions like this.
They had finished up their celebrations and were now going to see the tavern that they had earned. It was old and a little run down but that just ment fewer people would look at them for gutting it and building everything up that could not be reused.
The biggest change would be in the basement. It would need to be conected to the sewer network by kobolds to make a second entrance. There they would be able to make multiple store rooms and a place for a fense to set up shop. It was idealy located to make them a killing on smuggling goods around and getting things to those that needed them.
From there they would need to expand their operations and fast like. They had gained to much fame to quickly. They were rich but did not have the ability to make more money, protect it, or avoid churches going after their heads. They had some breathing room gifted to them by the gods that they had summoned but also debts to those same gods. And even that would not stop someone from the church that got the impression to kill them from just going off and bury a dager in their backs. It would not stop someone from slitting their throughts while they slept or poisoning the very food they ate.

For any of their plans to work in the long run they needed influence and fast. This was the start and they could get most of it done in a week if they lit a fire under their feet but even that may be to late. It would be impossible to bring in the best enchanters to build the vault for the wealth that the city would make them without the right kind of influence. Something that they could not ignore or put off for half a year.
"So this is the guy is he. You are sure that he can do what we need and not ask to many questions." Drassisa asked her friend Teamasa.
"Old Ed is a good friend of mine. When he likes you that is it, he is on your side. He also does not really care about being told what to do so be careful what you say to him. Make sure whatever you ask of him is asked like a favor and be ready for him to call in a favor in return." She explained.
It was not like Old Ed was very old, just in his late forties. But some time long ago a child had call the young man old and like most nicknames he had never lived it down. It had grown onto him and he into it to the point that there was not reason to try and fight it anymore.
"So you need someone to run your tavern right. And you will give me oversight on EVERYTHING involved in the running of it so long as you can work behind the scenes without being interupted." Ed asked in a way that made it clear that he was not asking questions but stating facts.
"Yes and we would also be paying you to make money. It is a better deal then what you get around here." Tea added to her friend.
"So it is, so it is. I will tell you what, if you lot will throw in my own brewery we will call it a deal. That is not to steap for you is it?" Ed added.
"Shake on it and we got a deal!" Drassisa was not going to let this go without getting someone like this on her side that was for sure.

The Plan
An infinite world couldn’t be real, but if it was, well this would happen. Imagine a world that isn’t covered in water, but an endless atmosphere. Plates of land, named “islands”, float and drift almost aimlessly. There is no sun, stars, roof, or floor; just boundless air in every direction. Light is generated from the movement of air flow. Magical and mystical powers keep islands floating and the world full of fresh entropy. Some of these floating islands drift upwards or downwards or any combination of volatile or patterned velocities. Air flow also follows the same characteristics of islands, which generates the light and heat. In a world with no horizon, the different inhabitants struggle. Beings calling them selves deities across the endless space are countless. If you were to fall off an island, you would inevitably hit another island; if you didn’t die from old age first. Many inhabitants don’t know the land further than their own eye sight or town they grew up in. Almost all inhabitants of islands have supernatural abilities, ranging in ability and skill. Magical abilities are kept individually; and mystical powers are borrowed. Islands float because the land is enchanted by either a magical or mystical crystal. Magical islands are known for vertical variance, while mystical islands are known for vertical stability. The islands rotate around focal points, known as 'the center'. There are many 'the center', but no one knows this yet... Warning: Tagged Mature 18+ for Strong Language, Gore, Violence, and sexual scenes. Google Drive (Click here to open new window) WIP/spoilers
