《Debts Come Due!》Day-19 It's a Damn Snake!

"How are we going to kill a snake that big?" Tess asked when he saw the beast sunning itself on the rocks.
"Maybe if we leach the heat out of it we can freeze it to death in the water. Turn its lake into ice after putting it to sleep and it can't get out." It was Drassisa that provided the base for the plan they would use.
It was big enough to simply thrash around and destroy them by accident so they would have to immobilize it first. If they could get to it when it had been sleeping and cast spells to keep it that way. If they could lower the tempeture of the entire lake and freeze it out. They just might have a chance to slay it without spoiling the lakes water.
If they could slip it some kind of sleeping poison and something to disoriented it, then they could have a much easier time of this shitshow.
It was not much planning but more then they had before. It would give them a single chance where they would have had none at all.
A ghost of a chance was better then nothing and luckly for them, they had a luck manipulatior on their side. Someone that could twist the ties of fate to be on their side. They could pull this off no problem if they could get just the right ingredients and some time to prepare.
While under the cloak of being invisible they prepared the trap on the lake. When the snake entered it the damed thing would slowly grow lathargic and fall into deep sleep. It would then be possible to lower the tempeture of the water slowly and drive the snake into even deeper sleep. If it started thrashing in its slumber it would be doing it underwater and slowly.
Teamasa would sap the heat from the lake while making large chunks of ice out of the water. Added to that she would use a simple curse of life sapping. It would drain the energy of the snake into the waters themselves. They had confered with the ogre and decided to sacrifice all the gain from the snake to make the waters magicly charged. It would be good for the wild life on the mountain pass to drink them.

If they made it permanint then the lake could be used to dispose of the excess bodyparts from anything hunted on the mountain. They would never need to worry about fouling up the water supply and it could even be used in the making of better potions. The bones of the snake would be what anchored the spell to the lake. The only thing that would last for a long time in the lake.
They just needed to call on the Lady for a favor and work out a deal with her concerning this and nothing could stand in their way. This is how you would use her attention to farther your own goals. This is how you could use it to change the entire world and spin it on its head.
A single chance encounter!
Drassisa, Embrda, and Sasha all were preparing the small ritual for calling the Lady of Bargins. They would sacrifice a mountain goat that had wondered far to close to the camp and ask her for her favor in this endevor. She was not anywhere near as powerful as a Prince of the Abyss or a Lord of Hell her favor was far easier to obtain. You just had to offer up something that she wanted from what you asked of her and she would shift the tide of battle.
The reason that few were willing to deal with her is that the end price was the same as any deal there ever was so warlocks wanted power now instead of later.
"Why have you called on me my dears?" A voice spoke out of the mist.
"We seek your favor and guidance on a matter of great import." The Dragonborn proclaimed. What was the point of being a gentelman thief if you did not have any presintation. What was the point of living if you could not have a little fun every great once in a death match!
This was going to be interesting.
"We wish your help in making the snake fall into deepest slumber." Drassisa said with a big ol' grin.
"We want your help in draining the beast's lifeforce dry." Sasha said with a flourish. She was getting caught up in the spectical along with all the others.
"If you wish for good fortune and Fates favor you will need to dedicate this lake to me. Dedicate it to the Bargins struck on this mountain. You have one of the skulls of the hydra and plenty of dire wolves with you so carve my symbols into them and toss them into the lake. Throw in some human skulls and carve up the serpent as well." The Lady pronounced getting into the spirit of the exchange.

She was having a little fun now as well.
"In exchange for making this lake a place of power for me where any that wish to gain my favor may come to, I would ensure that this hunt goes just as planned. I will feed the runes to sap the life from the serpent. I will place the poison in its veins. I only ask that you carve its skull in my image. I want proof that this victory came from my grace!" The Lady told them making sure her wishes were quite clear.
This was something that would go down in the history books. She was making a power play and declairing infront of all that make pacts she was there better. She was rubbing the fact in their faces. Sure they had blades and armour forged of legends, but those legends were for the champions alone. They spoke of only the champions might, not the might of the patron.
The Lady would give the cheapest thing she could to the most people possible and in doing so spread her name far and wide. If they could pull this off she would OWE them! That is not something any of the three was willing to give up lightly.
Nice sun.
Good sun.
Going to take a bath in the lake now.
Full belly is a happy belly.
Nice water.
Warm water.
Sleepy water.
Nap under the water.
"It's asleep. Teamasa cast the sleep spells. We want this thing to stay that way." Tess proclaimed for all to hear.
"Make a path, we will go and cut chunks out of its side so it bleeds all the faster. Its blood is thin right?" The ogre said with a certinty.
A good hunter did not chase the deer across the plain but waited for the deet to arive at the hunting grounds. He was a good hunter that had learned manythings over the decades of his life. They had traped the snake that could destroy villages and had done so in the past. Now they just had to fell it.
While Tea was making the lake colder and colder. Draining the heat from the waters and droping in small icebergs, she was also making a path of ice to the only part of the snake above the water, a single spot on its back.
"Cut into it with that axe of yours. We want as much meat as we can get and we need to go deep it we want to bleed it out. Aim for a vein if you can find one." Smithy said while pooring some of his potions over the snakes body. They were draining the heat out of the areas they touched and covering them in a layer of frost.
He had more potions then just mear poison. Some of the things he caried were in reinforced, enchanted iron containers to keep them from spilling. The potions he was now using were just some of those things. If misused they could kill him and everyone around him.
The reason he avoided direct combat was more in fear of what could happen then his lacking ability with the blade and his friends were now seeing that for the first time.
By this point they had cut down to the spinal collum and he was getting ready with a big needle. In it went and for the first time sense this started the snake shuddered. It was all for naught though because now it could not wake up and even if it did it would not have been able to move. He had parrilized the three hundred meter snake with one single brush stroke.
"We can bargin. We shall do so on the morrow at dawns first light." The ogre told them after they had held up their end of the deal. Things were moving along smothly and if the three busy warlocks carving a giant snakes head was anything to go by.
Tomorrow would be interesting that was for sure.

Overseer
From the nothingness I appeared. Bodiless, voiceless, ageless, I have only thoughts and emotions to guide me. My one connection to the world lies in the hearts of a small colony of lizards, just on the cusp of maturing. I reach out to them without hands, inspiring them to be more than what they are, shaping their bodies from visions of lost memories. But where do the memories come from? I am always left with more questions than answers. In my lonely shapeless existence the lizards cannot hear my words, and they cannot feel my touch, and I must wonder, do I even really exist? --- Called emotional, abstract, and beautiful by readers, this story is an observational account of a disembodied entity that has the power to influence and change a race of mildly intelligent lizard creatures. Memories of a previous life often serve as inspiration, but also generate questions as to whom the entity might have been before it became an Overseer. (presented in short chapters) (Thank you readers for getting my story into the top 5 ;u; ~
