《Debts Come Due!》Day-3 The City Awaits

'There is the city now where is the gate, over there. Ugh I hope they do not search me, it will be a pain to explane what I have all of this poison for. Now what do I want to do with my day. Where do I go first. It has been a day or two sense I had a good meal so food first and then I will see about getting the lay of the land. Now what is that smell, it smells good and hot so I think I will have some of that food if I please.'
'Guild hall, guild hall where is the guild hall. I cant help but wonder where it could have gotten to. I distinctly remember it being over here when I was last here but that was years ago.'
"Ma'am are you OK? You do realize that you are talking to your self right? Is everything OK up top?" Said the asked while patting his head.
"Oh I did not realize I was talking out loud, guess it is just a force fo habit. Spent far to many years alone and all that."
"Well If you want to find a guildhall I can show you the way."
"If you would I am off to adventure, I have spent the last 10 years alone in the church."
"The church you say, are you a paladin of some kind? Have you came to help the poor or slay great evils?"
"I have come to do both, to do one without doing the other is just silly and leads to the cycle repeating over and over again."
"Well I wish you all the best of luck and if you want to do something to help everyone then the dragonlord city will probably have some request for you though you will need to get his attention for that to happen."
"I see, thank you for getting me here and all that but I must be off. Time waits for no man or woman and all that."
He was nice I hope that I run into him again sometime. Now to get my gang together, the thief will be hardest to spot or he would not be a very good thief.
"Hay is anyone being inconspicuous in here?" I ask deciding to get to the point.

The looks of confusion are a good tell for those that are not good thieves. It will be the one that does not react that will tell you, and there he is, got to make a note of the guy with the nice hat.
Well that was informative and now I probably look crazy to them so I'm just going to go and see the receptionist.
"Never mind me, nothing to see here folks! Nothing odd about me, no, not at all."
"Can I help you? Are you alright, do you need anything?"
"I'm all right but would like to join. I will be here for the forseable future and killing monsters is one of my duitys as a paladin."
"Are you looking to join a group because there are a few recruiting right now."
"Looking to form my own actually. Thanks for the info by-the-by. Do I need to fill out any forms or the like."
"Right here is everything that we require of you to fill out and that is mostly so that if you die we know who to send your remains if you die. A bit morbid I will grant you but important none the less."
Well now that that is done I can start building my dream team. I already have a good canidate for the thief but I do need to vet him and see if he is up to stuff. Also to see if he is trustworthy. Now how to go about it, maybe a job? I will think on it and look for the others in the meantime.
Now if I were a necromancer where would I go. Let me think, where would they be, they are frowned apon in most places and the cemetary is guarded for that very reason. Now if I were a person of dubious sort where would I go.
Book store! Weird books could be over looked there and few would care if our necromancer didn't start raising bodies. Well it is all guess work but maybe it would hold true. There will be multiple book stores across a city this big so it will be one of the specitaly shops. Where you would get magic tomes and other odd texts, some place where having a book of great evil and a book of heavenly virtue next to each other would not at all be suprising. Such a place will have magical safeguards.

A Quick Wander About Later!
'This might be the place that I am looking for but how would I go about asking if the necromancer is in.'
Why does this have to be so hard and awkward. Lets just get this over with.
"Hay can I ask you a very invasive question? And don't say that you just did or I will punch you."
"Sure" said the kind old man in charge of the book store. "Ask away, if I can help you I will otherwise you are on your own."
"I am looking for a wizard and a necromancer to go adventuring with. I have spent a lot of time making plans and their spells would be a godsend. Someone that can change the tide of a battle like that would be useful."
"Well my granddaughter dabbles in necromancy and has a penchint for wizardry. You would have to ask her if she would like to go with you but who knows, she might say yes. Is there anythink else?"
Well that was easy. I wonder if he can help me with texts about warlocks.
"I may have something that you could lend your assistance on if you were willing you see, I happen to have made a deal with a devil and was wondering if you had any books about where this path may bring me. Prehaps even something on the Lady of Bargins herself."
"I may have just the thing and if you are going to wait for Teamasa you might as well read a good book while you do it. I must confess it has been many years sense someone came to me asking about that particular patron of magic. She always pays her debts and demands that everyone else does the same."
"I ran across a man many years ago that asked about that same devil and I will tell you what I told him. 'Only make deals with her if you are willing to pay the price because once you die your final death she will collect. If you owe her anything that is unfulfilled she will mark it as done but she will be sure to pay back anything that she owes to you towards your family.'"
"I see thank you kind sir. Is there anything that I can do for you, do you need anything, anything at all? I would be happy to help you with whatever is required."
"Flatery will get you no-where. Clean up the shelves if you want to and we will call us quits for the information. That is what you are trying to make up for isn't it. Can't be oweing too many people to much right off the back now can you. Just be careful and know that she does not love you, you are an investmint to her. If you make it to great enough hights before you eventually die that is all the better."
"She is immortal and you are not, there is a difference in your time frame. Nothing you could ever do would stop her from getting what she wants in the long run. That is not how this game you have started playing goes. Now take that as free advice and come up with a game plan because my Tea is a stubborn girl if ever there was one!"
I have started humming to myself after cleaning for three hours and I swear that some of these books are humming with me. When I asked the store owner about it he just told me to ignore the books because they like to mess with people. Thats not disconcerting at all just some humming books here nothing to see.
In this time frame twelve customers have come into the shop and left each of them with a wrapped up package so that others could not see exactly what they bought. When pressed about it old man simply said that some of the books are dangerous to carry openly so they treat all of the books leaving exactly the same.
It was about then that a teenage girl of about sixteen came into the store. I figured she would try to keep a low profile and instead am left dumbstruck by the fact that she has a skeleton snake around her neck like it is no big deal.
I think that I am going to like this girl.

Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.

I finally looked at him to find out why he was so quiet. The moment my eyes landed on his face, I was able to see his expression. He had the biggest smile and his cheeks were red. Like red red."Y/N," He said my name. That alone made me feel butterflies. He chuckled, "You really are clueless."Edmund stood up and took my hands. He stood me up gently. We were now standing in front of each other with the sunset behind us, hitting the right features. Our eyes were fixated on each other."This whole time," he said, "did you not even have one passing thought that I maybe have liked you too?"I blushed. Redder than cherries."I never got to think about it" I answered.
