With a final chuckle through a palmed face, Phil exited the forum and leaned back on his chair. It has been a day since the alien vessel arrive in the solar system and once people realized that the ship was moving to Earth even more panic swept the panic as everyone tries to buy toilet paper.

‘It’s like when the corona virus was sweeping through the world a few years ago but worse, when do people not realize that rioting and panicking would do nothing but cause trouble?’ Phil wondered as he opted to go into the internet to watch the commotion that was happening, popcorn in hand.

“At least it’s a fun distraction on the hands of a potential alien invasion” He mumbled as he went to Tweeter and saw the same hot garbage that it was before spilling out its guts as those using it are doing whatever they want now that everyone thinks it’s the end of the world.

Of course, there are those whom are trying their best to quell the panic but their words of advice usually fell on deft ears as Phil scrolled to see mostly people praising the lord Christ himself, others saying it’s the doom of all and a cult is even using the opportunity to get more members.

He sighed as he got out of that hellhole ‘Why do I keep using it, my life’s been worse since I found it back in highschool’ Phil figured as he turned to other sites. The one good thing about this all is that the alien spaceship has been analyzed and you can actually see good artwork and even 3d models of it.

He switched on WeTube and found that his top recommendations were between a generic playthrough of a shooter, a clickbait video about a guy gaining access to alien weaponry and a video about a guy who managed to explain how he managed to model the alien ship in less than a day since arrival.

He went with the 3rd one since it seems like the less boring of the 3 and immediately got confused through his lack of knowledge of engineering and modeling but the art was good and the modeler even explains away some aspects of the design showing intensive knowledge of engineering and ship design.

“Well I suppose that we know what a spaceship really would look like now, one that could cross the stars and such” Phil muttered as he forgot to turn off the autoplayer and it went to another video ‘Goddammit, let me… huh this seems interesting’ He figured as he let it buffer out.

It was a video titled “Updates on the alien ship 1” by a small channel called XenoAppreciationSociety81 with less than a hundred subs, the video itself was made half a day ago and has less than a thousand views but he stayed because the first comment with a lot of likes talks about the video’s quality.

It begins with footage of a space RTS game over the moving frame of Earth in the solar system with a spaceship heading to it in utter silence “Hello again wonderful people, this is Faraday here and today on our channel we shall talk about the alien spaceship in our solar system” The presenter entered in.

He seems friendly in body structure and tone though a bit heavyset “Now, you folks all probably seen the news that confirmed that we are not in fact alone in the universe and I shall not bore you with such details as we will talk about the intricacies of this extraterrestrial encounter in our home system”

“At 9:21AM Pacific Time on November the 26th 2025 which was yesterday, satellites and observatories both civilian and military in nature captured the alien craft as it suddenly appeared right atop of the Great Red Spot of Jupiter which if you haven’t seen our earlier videos is in actuality a massive storm that has been observed as far back as the 17th century” The presenter showed a picture of the spaceship.

“Now look at this picture of the spaceship itself, it is peculiarly similar to ships used by us humans in various sci-fi works with its angular design and what appears to be an engine section and forward head of sort and 4 large thrusters in the back. Either the aliens are copying our fictional designs, we manage to design ships that are actually good or it’s just a big ole coincidence which seems most likely.

The fun part however is only starting as you shall see here” The image snapped into a different frame that seems to indicate that the ship itself was stretching before it got to the spot “This singular frame may tell us a lot on their method of FTL travel or faster than light travel for those not familiar”

“The ship seems to distort as it came to break on Jupiter’s orbit, it could be that the drive stops itself when it noticed a gravitational pull ahead or close by or perhaps the aliens themselves managed to figure out a way to align their spaceships to appear at specific spots at their command”

“Either way, what we can say for sure is that from the readings picked up by scientists and researchers and this frame, it is most likely that the aliens are using a form of the Alcubierre warp drive proposed in 1994 by Miguel Alcubierre” an image of said person was shown.

“What the drive is theoretically supposed to do is create a warp bubble around the ship and allow it to travel at speeds faster than light by abusing the laws of physics. It remained as just a speculative hypothetical question well until now where it is quite plausible” Faraday explained.

Then the visage of space returned from view “One thing we can say for certain is that after the ship arrived in orbit of Jupiter, it sat there for exactly 1 hour 47 minutes before making its move towards Earth, why this is a case remains a heavily speculative mystery as various folks try to make their own suggestions on the why and how” A few written theories were shown on screen.

The presenter cleared his throat before continuing “The leading theory is that after warping, the amount of power required for it causes the ship’s system to run out of power for a good while which would pose an interesting drawback to this particular FTL drive system if it’s the only one.

There may be other reasons as to this drawback, maybe the procedure is taxing and the crew needs time to recover or there could be a small problem which causes the ship to be dead in space for a crucial hour though these are less possible and in turn less talked about” He spoke confidently.

‘For something that was uploaded only 10 or so hours after the aliens arrived, the quality is something else of itself’ Phil thought as he continued listening closely “We however do not know the exact details of who the aliens are or how their technology works but if they come in peace and we can get along and work together, I’m sure that humanity might have a brighter future” And with that the video ends.

Phil blinked as he turned off the autoplay feature, only now realizing how short the video was ‘Huh… and its day 1 as well, I think I found a new subscription’ He thought as he peered out of the window into the night sky “It does make one think, what goes on in the minds of the aliens” He muttered out loud as the stars seem to twinkle at the question whilst the world burns in the other continents.

Rasnessk took a deep breath through the breathing holes in his neck as he trotted back and forth, tail swishing uncomfortably as he mentally panics. It was fine when the planet of the aliens was say millions of miles away when he thought he would have a plan when they get closer to orbit… he did not.

Now they were practically over the planet as they continued to receive transmissions from its denizens, some were chatter, others random and some were meant for them. They came in mathematical formulas and such which is probably the only truly universal language between the 2.

‘This is bad, this one is lacking a plan to initiate first contact, think Rasnessk, just try to compose of something in your mind’ He mentally sang to himself but still he was lost and unable to come up with a plan ‘At least the aliens are quite strangely peculiar’ He thought as he thought back to what they look like and shuddered a bit though at the very least they do share traits with his kind which is good.

The oral and written transmission were stranger “This one doesn’t get it, their singing doesn’t rhyme or follow any pattern and their compositional notes and sheets are just scribbled garbage, how do they even communicate orally?” One of the helm rider asked as they viewed through the data transmissions.

“It is a simple matter they might not need to sing to communicate and their written form of their songs are not meant to be sung at all. They evolve in a drastically different habitat far from our own planet so it is not so strange for them to evolve a different way of communicating” An Archivist answered in song through the communications receptors worn on the ears of all Helm Riders.

‘Thankfully this one need not explain that’ Rasessk let out a trill of relief before hissing to clear his throat “Focus people, once we get near that planet, we need to figure out a way for us to both communicate our intentions and establish a positive first contact” He reminded them all to a torrent of agreements.

Then came a hesitantly raised tail from a familiar someone “Yes Sylksskra, what do you have in mind?” He sang a question and se seem to contemplate for a bit before answering “Mayhaps this one enlighten you all on some potential ways for first contact?” Sang Sylksskra with a nervous tone.

Rasnessk took a second to compose about it before just saying “You know what sure, no one else has any other ideas or anything, unless someone cares to enlighten this one immediately” He sang though no other responses were sung back as he turned to his sister who was still raising her tail.

“Is there something else?” He asked as she looked at a certain Helm Rider with a look of pity “Yes sir, the 3rd engine is overheating again” And with that the tension on the helm broke off for a bit to a choir of trilling as the Helm Rider in question groaned before going to get the Technomancers again.

“Mayhaps something is wrong on the outskirts of the engine would you mind checking up on it?” Sylksskra suggested as Hallksinn just did a flicker of his tail before the door close signaling that he would think about it “Now then, what do you mayhaps have to enlighten us all in mind Sylksskra?” Rasnessk asked as he turned to his sister whose crest feathers brightened up and rose in excitement.
