They sit up and look around while dusting off the various trash stuck on them from the fall. They were in a corridor that reminded them of something that would fit on some sci-fi B-movie. Below them were various discarded trash and a large freshly dead minotaur that helped break their fall.

“Wasn't this a wuxia world?”

“Yeah, why the sudden genre shift to sci-fi?”

“Scientific advancement is the natural course of civilization.”

“But wuxia worlds don’t ever progress aside from individual cultivation. Scientific progress is usually driven by a reason for it to happen.”

“Isn't that just a stupid plot point? Real people always innovate to make their lives easier.

“There he goes underestimating ‘stupid’ narrative power.”

“Besides let's look around there might be some loot in this trash. The tutorial always gives something to the player right away.”

Searching around the trash all they could find was a lab coat with a tag on it denoting it belonged to a #38. Shaking off the bones that were still in the robe he quickly put it on to give himself some decency. After putting on his coat a clipboard fell from the chute and hit him in the head.

“Ah, exposition has fallen from the sky.”

“Excellent deus ex machina timing system!”

The clipboard read: Experiment number 29A.

Hypothesis: A resurrection of the great Demon gods.

Methods: A constructed Humanoid using Demonic essence recovered by scientist #21 mixed with virgin blood.

Results: Failure in kinesthetic control.

Discussion: Intended uses included worship and demonic cult leader replacement.

Conclusions: Add virgin sacrifices to increase body and soul amalgamation.

Acknowledgements: May the former demonic cult leader rest in peace after he ate a mistakenly poisoned cupcake.

Note to self: Reorganize the ingredient cabinet. I seem to have misplaced the Angelic Essence recovered by scientist #15.
