《The Firefly Diary》Positivity

"Alright, let's brainstorm as to my quality," Kyofi said. They assembled in the lower floor living room - which was actually a living room, not an entertainment room - to figure out who Kyofi was.
"She likes to laugh a lot," Vanos said. But the other three shook their head, figuring that wasn't the quality.
Ahmond asked, "How do we know she has the third quality."
Kyofi stared at her, and laughed. "What do you mean..." She leaned forward, baring her fangs. "If I don't have the third quality?"
Ahmond shrunk but Kyofi patted her on the head. "I'm simply playing with you. But I think it's clear that since we have three wolves in our party, three of us have the qualities."
Vanos said, "I'm not saying you don't, but I think Ahmond has a point. It might be someone else who has the quality, not you."
Kyofi blinked as she considered the possibility. "That doesn't sound likely. I mean, like who, Ahmond? She's only a kid right now. We need to think of what trait I share with Arber like we did you."
Mosor said, "We need to get our facts straight. We know for sure there is definitely someone else hunting the treasures. We don't know how many someone elses. It could be only Lantorn and crew, or there could be hundreds of hunters who have Lhyna's book. Next, we know that I unlocked Empathy as soon as I was empathetic, but Vanos unlocked Willpower after he acknowledged it was his power. That could mean anything. Different qualities might be unlocked in different ways, or maybe it's after major showings."
Vanos said, "To be fair, Mosor, you always knew who you were, and you always knew we thought of you as the sensitive one when we were kids."
Mosor took the point to mind. "That is a working theory, maybe we need to discover the good parts about ourselves."
"Maybe it's time to practice positivity?" Ahmond asked. "That way we can learn who we are, and feel good too?"
Mosor nodded. "I guess it's time we talk about our own good points. But it's hard to judge yourself, meaning we should go around."
Mosor pointed to Vanos, and said, "Say something nice about Kyofi. A trait you think of that makes her good."
Vanos blinked as he stared at Kyofi. "You're always energetic. I mean, you complain about having to do a lot of work, but you're always popping off the walls at parties. You are highly positive, I think."

Ahmond said, "Kyofi is always standing her guard and standing her own. I think that being protective might be good, even if it's mostly herself."
Mosor said, "Kyofi is protective and is energetic. Same time, she's also loyal. I mean, she chose us over the rest of the family, and stands with us against all odds."
Kyofi grinned and said, "Thank you all. I guess this is because I am clearly the best of all of you." The others laughed.
"Alright," Ahmond said. "Wait, is Kyofi actually that energetic? I mean, she's energetic about things she's energetic about. She's also lazy when it comes to actual work. That's not energy, that's funseeking, and is that good."
Mosor said, "And if you're loyal to one part of your family, you are technically being disloyal to the other part."
Vanos said, "I guess protective isn't good either. You're not protective if you're only looking at yourself."
Kyofi blinked and said, "Thanks guys. Way to change the topic. I think it's about time I head to work."
"Let's add easily butthurt to the list," Ahmond said as she stuck her tongue out.
Mosor and Vanos didn't enjoy of her bad behavior and both slapped her upside the head, making her look down as they all watched Kyofi leave to work.
*
Kyofi didn't go to work. She went to a bakery instead. On the other side of the counter stood a violat. A violat being a bony, purple resident of Wysdom, having a pickaxe shaped head. They stood on both feet, and looked starved, and scaly. This one had bluish marks.
"Keep it coming Margar," Kyofi said, having downed three cupcakes already. "Apparently I'm not good enough for my family. They think that I might not have the third quality. They think I'm not that good." She mumbled to herself.
The violat, Margar, said, "If that's your problem, maybe make a new quality. Good traits are harvested slowly."
The hyena wolf hybrid glanced at Margar, and downed her fourth cupcake while wondering what kind of bakery was set up in bar fashion. She'd never been here before, to Margar's cupcakes, but she'd keep coming back from now on.
"Maybe it's time I make some new friends," Kyofi said. "Margar, are you doing anything after work?"
Margar shook his head, and said, "That includes being with others." He went to the back, presumably to bake more cupcakes.
"Guess that leaves me alone to do... something," Kyofi said.
She went outside to the bustling city. Nobody stopped, and nobody stood out as friend material. How did someone make friends? As a kid it was hard, but they jammed you with people, and forced you to make friends. Now, she had to actually go out and talk to somebody.

Man, Kyofi gave Mosor a lot of hardship about being shy, but she never thought herself like that.
First thing first, what'd she like doing, and where could she find others who liked that same thing?
Okay, that list included fighting, dancing, eating, chewing, joking, laughing, but that wasn't specific. How was she going to make friends with someone over food? An eating competition? There were a few around.
"Alright, world, be ready because Kyofi's hungry." She would have run off, but who needed to waste the energy?
*
Vanos said, "I don't care if she's angry at us, she better come within the next five minutes to help us!"
Winter wasn't known for providing lunch rushes to an ice cream shop. But Wysdom had the occasional heat spell which made everyone hungry. Now they had more customers than they had service, and Ahmond had to clean, Vanos worked the counter, and Mosor got orders ready fast as she could. The talking alone drowned out almost every voice, meaning Vanos had to shout.
Ahmond said, "I think she's taking a break! But I see her coming on the horizon! No, wait, that's someone else- No that's her!"
Kyofi opened the door, and casually pushed past the crowd. She scanned the area and sat at a table, her stomach full. She slumped, and fell asleep immediately.
Vanos growled, seeing dark red. He walked over to her and shook her awake, and she growled at him.
"Stop being a pain, and help us out," Vanos said. "We are in dire need of assistance if you forgot."
Kyofi said, "I don't feel well. Talk to me later." She went back to sleeping, and Vanos went back to the counter.
The lunch rush went poorly as many customers left, figuring there were better businesses that were more competent around.
Mosor took Vanos to the back, and said, "Let's simply act like we like her, and tell her more positive things."
"I can't think of any- wait, act like we like her?" Vanos said. "I figured you genuinely liked your half-sister, right?"
"After this stunt?" Mosor asked. "No, I actually don't like her that much I think." She looked back at Kyofi. Thought about the situation. "Simply appease her."
"I'm not doing that," Vanos said. "Maybe she needs to hear once in a while she's not the greatest person ever."
"Neither are you!" Mosor shouted and Vanos backed up. "You're vain, dramatic, and worst of all, stubborn."
Vanos growled and told her, "And you're not a picnic too. You're wimpy, overtly sensitive, and any time somebody has a problem you have to go down and help them. What are you compensating for?"
Mosor looked away from him. "I'm not sensitive, I'm empathetic. I'm not wimpy, I'm simply cautious and careful. I'm not compensating, I'm genuinely a good person."
Vanos said, "For someone who's calling someone else vain, I ain't hearing anything but pleasantries coming out of your mouth. In that case, I'm not vain, or dramatic, I know that I'm awesome and I like it."
Kyofi stood at the door, and they looked at her. They rubbed the back of their heads awkwardly. And she said, "That was awesome."
Vanos and Mosor blinked. "What part of that was awesome?" Vanos asked, thinking about their outbursts.
Kyofi said, "I mean, I only needed to have some time to myself for a day, but how long have you guys been sitting on that? That is some resentment you two have built up and towards each other too! I mean, I feel a lot better knowing that you guys could improve because I never thought about you guys being problems!"
"You didn't?" Vanos asked. He figured it was second nature to think about others' flaws for everybody. That meant Kyofi was a lot harder on herself than he previously knew.
Kyofi said, "I'm not gonna play it up for you guys, I'm not someone who thinks only of the good. I try to, but some days it's hard."
Mosor pointed out, "You are always there to bring joy, and maybe since you aren't joyful yourself that's sorta the problem?"
Ahmond came into the room and said, "It sounds like we're narrowing the options down. Sounds exciting."
Kyofi said, "No, it isn't positivity that's my trait. I think I can build positivity, but I think if I have a quality, it's something else, still got to figure out what."
"We have time," Vanos said. "I don't know how much, but we have time to figure it out. Let's write it down in The Firefly Diary."
Ahmond went to the safe to find the diary, as they locked it away. Soon as she touched it, brown vines surrounded her. Not that she saw.
