《DeadZone - Synthesis》Chapter 8 - Interlude III

The people seemed happy and the atmosphere was vibrant. As the young man walked around, seeing everything excited, he couldn't but be amazed by the clean streets, the smiles of the people chatting at a café nearby or the droplets of water, splashing from the fountain's flow.
He sat on a ledge and opened his backpack to eat one of Xikixi leaves, Jokku gave him. The clouds where moving slowly at the sunny sky, almost as if they were fake. Katsuo felt at peace at this silent part of town.
He stood up few moments afterward. It was time to meet the man he should. He drank some water and wiped his lips.
Even though the glow had disappeared the moment he entered the city, if he concentrated at the stone hanging from his neck, he could see it, distantly sparkling through the darkness, with a bright beam connected to the amulet on his chest. He did the same. As soon as he closed his eyes, a smooth breeze shook his clothes and the light familiar darkness surrounded him. He focused his thoughts on the amulet and tried to locate the glow.
Nothing. As he tried to formulate the mental image of the beautiful stone something unexpected happened. Even though his mind could recreate the image of the talisman, it was glowing with no connection to the environment. Could I be wrong?
He started shaking his head around. Concerned that ha had missed something, he climbed the ledge on his rear. And then, he saw it.
A blue smoke was pouring out of the alley behind him, accompanied by a glow like no other. It traveled around, like the steam coming out of the crock, forming the outline of the physical objects around. The eerie feeling originating from his ability to see with his eyes closed made Katsuo take a step back. Nonetheless, although it was weird, the aura of the smoke, seemed friendly towards him. He aprroached it without opening his eyes. He could see every shadow silhouette around him, under this light blue shade.

He entered the alley and walked slowly, putting his hands between his eyes and the light source. The intensity of the light, resembled that of the sun, but the young man felt no warmth, He arrived in front of a small door. Without a doubt the light seemed to emit from thin air and hover on it at this exact spot.
Katsuo allowed the fingers of his right hand get near the glow. His left hand was protecting his sight. The light went through his, flickered and then started to ascend, until it fainted indolently, taking the blue outline of the world with it. Katsuo looked around, but there was nothing. Just darkness. He opened his eyes and the colors of the objects around him fell exactly on top of the sketches that have been created by the shades of the azure light. The sun was hugging the houses with his beautiful afternoon magnificence.
Katsuo looked at the small door in front of him. Behind that door was the man he was supposed to meet.
He put his hand on the knob and opened. *Inside he met a dark atmosphere filled with a thick abandoned mist. At the small room, which contained almost no furniture, someone could observe the thick layers of dust that had taken over the floor and the walls's cracks. Katsuo's eyes where observing more details as they got used to the dark.
"Oi. Is there anybody here?" he asked making a step forward. The door shouted behind him, vomiting a short air stream, making the he young man turn surprised. An imperceptible noise was heard.
Katsuo felt a form inside the darkness and was only able to see a shadow, at the corner of the room, with the edge of his eye. He lifted his arms instinctively, trying to protect his side from an attack. He wasn't fast enough. A kick landed on him, making his knees bend.
