《The Reborn: Book One》Just A Dream

“Hello!” Chance called into the darkness; although he wasn’t expecting an answer, he had to try. He’d been standing in this empty room ever since the cube floor broke.
“Fantastic,” Chance mumbled before sitting down. “No clothes and I can’t remember a damn thing.” He rubbed his forehead and let out a soft chuckle, “and now I’m talking to myself.”
Chance moved his hands around before finally giving up and resting on his back. “Okay! I guess I’ll wait here….”
—
After thirty or so minutes, a blue circle appeared under Chance; this caught his attention right away. As Chance stood up, he watched the circle pulsate on the floor. Two marks in the middle shaped like feet slowly appeared, so he cautiously moved to step on them.
A large box appeared before him.
“Okay. I’m losing my mind….” Chance mumbled as the box expanded to its full size. He watched as words appeared inside the box.
“Choose your starting class.” Chance burst into laughter. “Oh! I get it! I lost my mind, and I guess my brain is trying to make me comfortable before I die.” Chance scanned the options before him.
Warrior: Proficient in hand-to-hand combat. Warriors are defined by the paths they take in their new life. Warrior tree is divided into four separate classes…
Chance couldn’t be bothered to read the whole paragraph. “New life?” He placed his hands on his bare hips.
Wizard: Proficient in many schools of magic, the wizard is a must-have for any adventuring-
“If this is just a dream, does it matter what I pick?” Chance’s eyes scanned the box, deciding he should focus; he went back to read the last two options.
Archer: Proficient in ranged combat. Archers will give any adventurer an upper hand in ranged combat and tracking-

“Okay, I'm for sure, not going with that one.” Chance took a step back to read the last option.
Cleric: Prof-
“Yeah, not going to be a healer either. Not in this life or the next.” He chuckles to himself before his gaze wanders over to the right side of the screen. Chance was staring at a locked icon. “So is this like, downloadable content? Even in my dreams, all the best stuff is locked behind a paywall.”
“How do I select?” Chance moved his palm over to the locked icon, wanting to see if he could check out the locked options. His palm slipped through the box; he brought his hand back and used a finger instead.
The locked icon rumbled, and no other box appeared. “So can I enter my card information? Wait, I don’t remember my card information.” Chance moved his hand back and scanned the class options once more.
—
“Why am I thinking about this so hard?” He stood up. Though the brainstorming session was nice, Chance was no closer to getting answers. “If I’m sick, I want to know. “If this is a dream, my choice doesn’t matter anyway.”
“Here goes nothing.” Chance went to close his eyes but noticed a button at the bottom of the list with dice on it. “Oh, thank god,” Chance said as he pressed the randomizer.
The blue circle began to pulsate faster and grew with each passing second. A blue beam shot out from the floor before Chance could see what he got for a class. The beam quickly swallowed Chance’s body, and he disappeared in the blink of an eye.
