《Devour》Chapter 17: Surprise

Staff members of Hell School clean up the mess while the remaining thirty-eight students in the arena didn't need to fight since the judges can evaluate the remaining students' rank. This decision put Dino to 1st, Aera to 2nd, Mickey to 3rd, Kiba to 6th, and Jio to 38th since he didn't do anything but stay with his group from start to finish.
Everyone exits the colosseum, and most people talk about the best fight they watched today. The story that people talk about the most is Aera's shooting star moment since it's beautiful, like a falling angel from heaven to punishes demons on this unforgiving world.
Dying is common in this world.
Jio's group starts walking outside the school when two hooded and masked men by the gate stop them while releasing a colossal pressure towards the group that puts them on high alert.
"Who are you two?" Dino asks the two while he covers the group just in case they attack them.
Knowing that the Blood Moon Cult was behind the auction incident, the group is prepared to fight, but when the two remove their hood and mask, Jio realizes that his parents come here to watch and visit him.
"Ma, pa! Didn't know you two are here!" Jio said in surprise while the rest bow with respect.
The pressure that the couple releases in front of them imprinted fear in their heart, and they did not know what or who they are dealing with.
"That was a great fight, everyone, and little buddy, your Pa is so proud of you where you did the best course of action," Mr. De Vil complements the group, especially Jio.
"You could have beat everyone, Peanut, but I told you not to get so much attention, so it's okay, I guess... 38th my ass! Anyways anyone hungry?" Mrs. De Vil asks while everyone nods.

They went to a fancy restaurant in the city. This building is usually booked and needs reservations one month in advance, but they are the only ones eating that surprise Aera.
"Peanut, why don't you introduce your friend to us?" Mrs. De Vil requests as she smiles
"My sworn brothers and sister?" asks Jio.
"Well, yes, silly, and thank you for supporting my Peanut also in the future. Hopefully, you guys answer his call," The group doesn't understand what Mrs. De Vil said, but they agree with her nonetheless.
"Well, the Blood Tribe is Dino Strong, Kiba Dragon son of Gil Dragon, Aera Midas, and Mickey Chenn," Jio introduces his sworn brothers and sister one by one.
"Kiba, can you say my regards to your father when your father visits you? Tell him greetings from the number one," Mr. De Vil let out, looking in Kiba's direction.
"Will do, Mr. de Vil," Kiba replies and tries to remember if his father mentioned the De Vil Family at least once in the past.
"Blood Tribe? Midas Family? The Dragon? and Chenn? Not bad, Peanut, you already find strong friends! I'm so proud of you," Mrs. De Vil happily said.
"Excuse me, Mrs. De Vil, do you know anyone in the Chenn family?" Mickey quickly asks after he heard his last name.
"Oh! Not me, but the four eyes do," Mrs. De Vil looks at her husband.
"Yes, you see, your great-great-grandfather is my lighting Master," Mr. De Vil said while five inches lighting golem starts to form on the floor that surprises the group since this type of control only belongs to a Lighting Magus.

Mr. De Vil continues, "It looks like your the successor of the Thunderbolt but be careful now, Mickey, since Zuor the Thunder God, a lighting Spirit is looking for that necklace."
Mickey didn't know about the Thunder God and looked at Mr. De Vil confused but believes since his great-great-grandfather mentions the name Zuor before he dies.
"The lighting thief... So it's true," Kiba said as he remembers his father told a story about Zuor and his lightning bolt.
"Mr. And Mrs. De Vil, how come you reserve the whole building, and how come I never heard your family name before?" Aera already tried to rent this particular restaurant once and failed.
"Well, that's because we're from the other continent, and the owner insists since we save his life before," Mr. De Vil answers truthfully.
"There are four continents in this world separated by water; two habitual lands and two arctic tundras were only the strong survive," Mrs. De Vil let out and continue, "The sea current and the seawater beasts destroy ship who tried to sail the two great waters. The reason only a few people know about this information."
As the night goes by, the owner insists they stay while offering the group one room for each person to rest and prepare everything, including the warm bath.
Alone with his parents, Jio tells about the Blood Moon Cult and the school's rampaging beast incident that surprise his parents. They already investigated the Blood Moon Cult a year ago and might be planning big, like the saying "The calm before the storm."

The world of Aelth Myrris is dying; the world-god is in her death throes. This was not caused by rampant environmental devastation, the fall-out of some cataclysmic war, nor a random happenstance of celestial events. This act of murder was entirely intentional and caused by capricious and hidden entities even more powerful than the gods themselves. The many groups that call the world-god Myrris home have been abandoned. Once proud societies are crumbling into ruin and barbarity as those with ambition vie to seize what few bits of fading power they can. Amidst this tumult, there are still some stories to be told about those few who cling to life wanting more than power and trinkets. This is the saga of those few who hope for a better future. Those few who defy the hidden entities that devour their world. Those few who refuse to be the pawns of fate.
8 71Kill the Harem
I was never a person who struggled with anything. Whatever I wanted to achieve, I achieved, except for finding a good reason for living. That was until I died. Perhaps it was karma, or perhaps it was some particularly sick god. I woke up in a world full of magic and encountered all these women who became romantically obsessed with me. It bears an uncanny resemblance to those garbage isekai series that I had the misfortune of reading in high school. The problem is, I loathe isekai. It got to the point where ever time I read about a busty elf-girl wanting to follow the protagonist, I wanted to throw something. It's illogical and it ruins the flow of the story. But now, I'm the one getting harassed by such illogical people? What complete and utter drivel. If any obsessive crazy person tries to make me theirs without even caring about my opinion, I'll f*cking kill them! I'll kill them all! I'm getting back home no matter what. My favorite manga hasn't finished yet and I want to read it to the end. Q&A Section Q: Is the protagonist mentally healthy? A: No, not even close. Q: Are all the female characters stupid? A: Barring extenuating circumstances, nobody rational would fall for a guy like the protagonist, so there's a bit of selection bias going on here. Q: Is this about a Gary Stu killing a bunch of irrational harem characters in a cliche isekai world? A: Go reread the title and the synopsis. Q: Do the women die because they won't sleep with the protagonist? A: No. I'm not sure where anyone got that from since it's entirely the opposite of what happens.
