《Endless Dive》Chapter - 21

Ripples slowly spread across the surface of the dome while Azaan ran away into the forest. At this location, the illusion of the dome was blinking in and out. At first it was slow and it reverted back into its original state but as the ripples spread wider and covered more area, the illusion started to become more and more erratic.
The chains that Azaan had created on both sides of the dome were still unaffected by the explosive spread that had been occurring due to explosions. The first chain that had been created was even showing some signs of stabilizing because the twisting of space inside the dome was not as harsh as in the second chain.
The spread seemed to be slow from an onlooker's perspective even though it was deceptively fast but when it got near the chains it accelerated and quickly cut short the distance between the chains. As the spread came near, the space between the chains and the spread slowly became chaotic which caused the spread to become faster while the chains became more chaotic by the minute. By now the illusion across the whole dome was blinking violently, it seemed as though it would be ripped apart at any moment.
As the spread connected both of the chains and it became one whole, the outer part of the dome that was previously calm was bombarded with energy and started to boil. At the same moment, the illusion was finally ripped apart. Air started to blow away from the dome as the excess energy seeped into the environment.
Unlike what Azaan had thought, the explosion did not occur immediately. For some time, the massive chain that had covered almost all of the dome was spreading even further as though it was trying to swallow the whole area. This occurred because it was expanding so fast that the critical effect required for it to explode was not able to catch with the speed that it was spreading. Still, it was not far because even with the quickness that it was expanding with, it was just on the verge of exploding.
By this point, Azaan was running through an area filled with a disgusting smell. It was so disgusting that his stomach was working full-time on how to make him vomit. The only reason he was ok was that he was running at full speed, wanting to quickly run away from this place. Another factor that kept him from vomiting was that he had not eaten anything for a while. He had been living solely upon the rations.

As he continued running away, the horrible was left behind. The smell of rotting meat and organs had made him dizzy and if he had not already been running before entering this area, he did not think he would have been able to run. Every breath he took during the run burnt his nose and lungs, literally, because he could feel burning from his chest and nose. Now that he was in a clean area, he started taking in large breaths.
Winds started bowling and even inside the forest filled with trees its force could be felt. Just as he took in his third breath, in came, riding along with the wind, the disgusting smell that caused him to gag. He started running, his speed even faster because the wind gave him a push but the smell that came along with it caused his mood to plummet. The only positive aspect of this whole ordeal, in his mind, was him running at full speed even though he was becoming uncontrollable. After crashing with multiple trees and gaining even more cuts and bruises on his naked and damaged body he started hearing the voice of the river. The joy made him forget the screams of his body and he ran out.
He squatted in front of the river taking in large breaths of air. He wanted to forget the awful smell that he had smelt but it seemed to seep even deeper into his lungs. After a while, he felt somewhat better and his brain started picking up on the cries of his body. Running naked through the forest that recklessly had caused damage to become greater. He could feel blood trickling down along his body. Unable to do anything, he jumped across the rocks and quickly crossed the river, and started moving towards the forest.
Suddenly he was plastered against the ground. Everything went quiet. He could feel something tickling his ears but it was a very light sensation and the only reason he was able to feel it was because all the other parts of his body were unresponsive. Even his eyes were blurry. Just when he was wondering what had happened, everything suddenly went dark and his mind slowly drifted away.

"You sure about this Kahir?"
"You guys still having second thoughts? Years of captivity and humiliation and still having second thoughts."
"It will gather too much attention."
Akhmad replied, ignoring the heat in Kahir’s voice.
"Did you see that video? When the knowledge about it spreads they will be quick to dispose of us."
"I am not against you but if we are going to really you better tighten your stomach because I am not going to let you do it half-heartedly."
Looking at Kahir nodding, Akhmad asked.
"So, what will you do about the remaining ones?"
"Can we do anything else?"
"Yes we cannot do anything. So when are we going to do it?"
"Tonight."
Akhmad was going to reply but he suddenly heard the sound of footsteps and became quiet, slowly returning to his bed in the ward.
-----
"Beginning process: Healing. It would take 0.25 points to heal your body. Should we proceed?'
"Yes."
He uttered while his ears introduced him to an entirely new kind of pain. The pain was so awful that he wished to die, though this wish was not new.
The green light enveloped him and his consciousness slowly blurred away.
-----
"So you want to file an FIR against Mr. Gul Hassan, is that correct Mr. Manifest?"
"Correct, all the charges that are to be documented and in these files."
Besides Manifest another person in mostly similar clothes took out multiple files from a bag.
"File these crimes against him. You will find the evidence for each in these files and if you require anything we will provide it to you."
-----
"Calculating payment."
Base Payment: 22 CP
Additional Payment: 0 CP
Achievements: 1 (E)
Total Payment: 22 CP, 1 (E)
That was the first thing that he heard and saw just when he woke up. He sighed in relief as he touched his ears. That pain was completely different from what he had felt before.
He had experienced all kinds of torture in every diver and his resistance to pain had also developed somewhat but the healing made quick work of all the problems. The healing made sure that he would not be in an awful state for more than the few hours that were utilized to complete the dive. It made all the pain seem like an illusion in the end.
As he looked at the zero Additional Payment, he decided to ask how it was calculated. This time he had worked very hard fighting those monsters and blowing up the dome but he still had not gotten any extra reward.
"How are the additional payment and the achievements calculated? It is dive information so it should be free, right?"
He asked, his back towards the statue.
"Additional Payment is assigned when you go above the minimum requirements for the completion of the mission. Achievements, on the other hand, describe how well you perform your mission."
"What happens if I cannot complete a mission?"
"After an assessment, the diver shall be taken out of a mission if it is considered impossible to complete, though the diver is required to initiate the assessment process by requesting to return before the mission completion."
"But will there be any penalties for exiting prematurely?"
"1 (F) achievement required at a minimum for the required information."
He shook his head and exited away from the dungeon. He had not planned to perform two dives today but that video had made his brain a bit tangled. He had not been thinking clearly when he had returned to this place. He decided he was not going to watch any video released by this channel in the future.

I Have Even Read the Rulebook!
As all stories begin, Prof died. Yes, truck-kun had something to do with that, but also a bird, a cat and some rebar. When he was presented with with the opportunity in the Afterlife Administration Bureau to be transmigrated into a game-like fantasy world, he did something, no one ever did: he read the Rulebook. Follow Prof on his road to be rich without working, touring a whole new world without a care and witness his realisation, that despite having read the Rulebook the folks living with the System for untold millennia know more about the rules. Important notes: 1, I'm not a native speaker, so be prepared for occassional typos, iffy grammar and maybe awkward sentences. The spell check was running, when I wrote the chapters, but it works in strange ways... If you point out mistakes, I will try to correct them 2, Scheduling will be two chapters a week, posted Saturdays before noon (CET). Depending on how much new chapters I can write consistently there will be probably more but as long as I have leftover chapters, the two per week will be posted no matter what. Chapters will be around 1500-2500 words as MS Word counts it. 3, I did not and will not post this novel on another site, if you find it somewhere else, please inform me 4, The Main Character's progression is slow, there will be no Levels, Skills, Abilities, Feats, Perks and Cheat Powers raining down on him 5, I've put Comedy as a genre because of my writing style not because the novel is a comedy per se. On the other hand, Traumatising Content is there because there is a lot of speciesism - those Elves are not nice people. 6, I put a lot of pop-cultural references into the chapters, try to find them! Enjoy!
