《The Conqueror's Black Book》Chapter Fifteen: Hunting

"OK boy, there are generally two ways energy is manipulated. It is either converting the power you have into your summoning to increase its effectiveness, or cultivate your body to its highest potential by developing it. Normally absorbing the energy goes to your soul space, where your connection with your body and the spirit world is and it is located in your chest. People cultivate through that to increase their power but everything for you goes only in your body. Now from what I heard, you have a book that imitates and is unreliable. Here, I will teach you a force that will allow you to become independent even without that book." Duke Reinhardt had brought Zephyr to a field trip to Mount Kers and was giving a speech that made Zephyr wobbly and tired.
"Boy, I want you to go and hunt some demon beasts for us for food." Duke leisurely said as he picked Zephyr up and threw him off the chariot.
Zephyr hit the ground but got up quickly and dusted himself off but nevertheless was excited to see some new creatures.
"Remember, this mountain range is also called Treacherous Peak, there's beasts as far as the eye can see the higher you go and the close to the centre is where the demon kings are. As for deeper within, not even your father would do so without a good enough reason." Duke Reinhardt gave some friendly reminders.
Zephyr soon rushed into the distance with reckless abandon and was immediately attacked by three beasts within seconds.
They were all shiny gray wolves that looked hungry with a mouthful of saliva and hastily clawed at Zephyr. Zephyr easily dodged and sent a palm into the chest of the one on his left, severely wounding it in one strike.
He made quick work of them, making sure they had no strength to get back up but soon heard more howls converging onto his area.
He looked for the Duke but he wasn't anywhere in sight. Zephyr tried running in the direction he came from but a massive five meter tall green gorilla stopped him dead cold. The aura it gave out was ruthless and full of rage.
"I think this is one of those demon kings, what to do?" Zephyr hid in a couple bushes close to him but the howls came closer and closer until they crossed paths with the Gorilla.
It turned out there were more gray wolves all running towards the Gorilla unprovoked. With a roar it struck three wolves away with a slap and went into another bush and only loud howls and yelps were heard with the occasional roar. Zephyr jumped onto a branch and tried to get a good look but the view shocked him.
There were tens of wolves surrounding the Gorilla and jumping on it but the Gorilla was taking everything and slapping the wolves away with indomitable will.
It gave an enraged roar, then it lit up and its body bulked up considerably, what used to be just hard slaps now actually tore the wolves pieces to pieces. Zephyr was affected by the bloodlust of this mini war and dark energy started emerging from around him.
His purple pupils were becoming blacker and his entire aura became dark. His body was slowly being wrapped in a dark aura and dark lines started wriggling like crazy all over his body.

(Drain...Absorb....Infuse) what was reflected in his eye's was the constant leaking of the animals aura's. He moved his hand towards one Wolf and as if beckoning it to him, the grayish aura slowly moved to his location and went into his palm, energizing him and aiding in the passive strengthening of his body.
After sucking the energy his mental state became unhinged and a thirst for massacre emerged from him, causing him to crazily absorb from all areas.
Even the wounded Gorilla became lackluster from the sudden theft of its essence which allowed the wolves to strike it down and finally kill it, however the more injured the wolves, the more energy being leaked and the result was being killed by draining.
"Nice job boy, but that's enough for today's lesson." The Duke appeared behind Zephyr and grasped his head and knocked him out.
"Hmm, the ability to replenish and drain while taking on the mindset of the target, that means its better for individual attacks. Look at all these corpses! Hmm, I also hear his book provides him the soul of other summons, how very interesting. Ahhahhaha!"
He then hurriedly relocated back to his chariot with Zephyr and moved deeper into the forest, fleeing the chilling scene.
***
A man with scarlet eyes and a maroon bandana covering his hair was running with a boy in his arms in a village. The entire area was quiet without the sound of a insect or animal. It gave off a horrifying feel as the sidewalks and openings to the doors were bloody and corpses were numerous. There was a decreipt and vivid fragrance as blood and the smell of corpses wafted in the air. The man himself was bloody and injured and as he looked at the young boy, his emotionless face finally showed a slight smile.
"Kekeke, there you are Kain, Mr 'Harbringer of Death'. I've been waiting for a long time to taste your blood kekeke. The Raiders will finally allow me, Johan, to take up the title of scarlet reaper of eight riders once I kill the former outlaw." A man in a long black robe with rustled dark hair and a saber approached the wounded man and boy with a fiendish smile with twenty people following close behind, each giving off eery chuckles.
"I will kill any who get in my way." The crimson haired man with wounds spoke harshly to the approaching group.
"Ooh, I'm shaking in my boots." The man cackled then turned to his subourdinates.
"End his life, but make sure you kill the son first kekeke." Johan issued out his cruel orders when he hurriedly looked back at Kain in alarm. The man was surrounded by malevolent killing aura and set the boy aside and prepared for combat.
An apparition appeared behind him in the form of a demon with only its upper body visible. It was blood red and had white hair with two long red horns coming out its forehead with a huge snarl plastered on its face, it immediately gave out a terrible shriek after being summoned. It had markings and tattoos all around its body and gave off a menacing aura.
"Transform! Rakshasa! The demon went into the Kain's body and a transformation occurred. His torn clothing was completely ripped apart from the waist up and his skin became blood red and his hair shone a bright white. His hands got two times the normal size and claws were formed from them. His height increased until he became two meters tall and he became imposing and merciless looking. Without waiting for the other people to get accustomed to his devilish transformation he disappeared.

"Ares, watch closely as you too will have to learn my lethal combat style." His voice became distorted, like two pieces of metal grinding against each other repeatedly.
"Chasing shadows". He immediately disappeared from everyone's sight without the slightest sound.
The area became silent as each enemy summoned either their pets or weapons to defend themselves bit even after a couple of seconds nothing happened.
"Did he run and leave his child, plech, a coward disgusts me." A man spat on the ground in contempt when he looked around and saw nobody around him moving.
He looked at his leader who was missing his right hand but still standing around and was looking quite confused. He wanted to ask the captain to look and so he raised his weapons when he felt his arms were much lighter, when he took a look at them he-
"AHHHHHH MY ARMS!!" He was missing his hands and the weirdest part was no blood was spilled from it.
"Tch, you even got me with that strike but what's the use of just taking arms, you've grown rusty." Johan noticed the injury, finally looking enraged and started taunting in order to vent some anger.
"No, I do this to get emotion from my victims. I've been murdering people since I was a child and I have learned to do it flawlessly, without them even knowing who killed them. Thus after a while of just silently assassinating, a small quirk I picked up was wanting to hear voices again." His face looked particularly demonic as a hint of a smile showed toward Johan.
Johan finally became fully enraged and was ready to unleash his last gambit before blood started spilling from his legs and he faltered and fell.
"When did you get my legs!?!?" Johan panickedly asked.
"Its time you understood, you and I were never on the same level, join the others and die in silence, it will be painless, bloody cleaver!" Kain struck out and all the people agonizing over their injuries were put to rest alongside their leader.
The man went back to the boy and went back to carrying him and moving along at a hurried pace into the forest.
***
"Hurry up old man, I'm already late to attending school, where are my escorts!" A little girl was roaring and screaming frustatedly all over the place in the front of her mansion while butlers and maids were running about.
"Ahaha Selene be patient, we have everything ready for you to have a safe adventure, they just want everything to be perfect and are only considering your safety." A tall lean middle aged man was twirling his whiskers in amusement while watching the fuming girl stomping about.
"Sir the escorts are here." A butler ran in and informed him. Three people followed the butler in right after.
"How do you all do, I am count Steiner, I apologize for making this absurd request but it is my sincerest wish to see her always be safe, can I trust you all to accomplish this with no hitches?"
The man gave a Noble's bow upon seeing his visitors.
"Yes sire, my name is Leo. You know of our reputation, we have and always will put our entire force into our missions to secure the contract is upheld, you can trust the Black Meteor mercenary group and our leader sir Obsi- Odin." Leo reciprocated the bow. As Leo said this, he gestured to the man beside the chariot driver who looked tired while reading a book on war with a massive lance by his side.
"Okok hurry up let's go, Vanessa come hurry!" Selene was rushing everybody into position.
"I'm here! I'm here! don't leave without meeee! A bright green haired lady in the dress of a maid rushed out of the manor and quickly got on.
She looked to be thirteen and was young and vibrant, giving people a bright atmosphere unlike her young lady.
Selene was a explosive personality and hated staying in one spot. She had long raven black hair and put them in pigtails and happily read up on school knowledge making sure she forgot nothing.
They quickly took to the road in silence, aside from Selene's constant stream of voice and random commands, but the group liked her vivid energy more as they came off sincere things and the air became less tense between everyone as the guards relaxed.
The person Selene grew most attached to somehow was the leader of the group, Odin. Despite his constant silence, she would always find her way to him and ask about his massive lance or how come he was so silent and would rattle on and on while Odin only gave simple nods to convey understanding.
After passing three cities and a couple small villages, the group took a detour into a wide forest and headed straight through rather than go in a round about way.
A person in ragged clothes stopped their carriage and held a longsword and looked villainous.
"Gyahahah! This was a fine catch by me, Randolt, now laddies, it's time to pay with that ride and all your belongings." The man laughed and whistled loudly, after a moment twelve more men appeared and completely encircled the carriage, chuckling and sneering at their surrounded prey.
"Leo."
"Already on it" the blonde man took out a golden bow and took aim in front of him, seemingly as if he was aiming at them all but not a specific person. He pulled the string lightly and five men instantly collapsed. He turned and pulled one again and everyone there collapsed immediately. He repeated this until the man who stopped them was the only one left.
"Useless trash" Randolt rushed up while recklessly waving his blade and then connivingly threw five knives and a smoke bomb, ready to escape.
"Blessed arrow" Leo chanted his technique and the illumination of a arrow being formed appeared around his arm and he grasped it lightly and took aim and released. A huge column of light phased through everything, erasing the knives and smoke until a shriek was heard.
"Let's carry on, pick up the pace" Leo once again returned to giving instructions.

I'm Sure It'll be Fine! ...right?
We live to die, and die to live again. This Cycle continues, neither to Begin nor End. Ever Beginning, never to End, we come to the story of our Unusual Friend. The Gods are as varied and unique as the mortals that worship them. Some are kind, others are fluffy, and (given the nature of the multiverse) a few are Eldrich Abominations of Unspeakable Horror. But that's fine, those few tend to mind their own business... At least until an Eldrich Abomination (an interdimensional cosmic slime-mold specifically) gets itself devoured by a Lich during a ritual to obtain Godhood... Especially because anyone, even a Lich, who's willing to eat an ENTIRE COSMIC SLIME-MOLD for any reason, even godhood, is undoubtedly a madman...who's now set his unsightly gaze upon replacing (likely by devouring) the Godess of Magic herself! She could probably use some help...if only to avoid touching the slimy Lichgod directly. Also, the Eldrich Gods are protesting these events in their usual manner...by trying to destroy all of Creation.
