《The 100th hero》Chapter 04

"This is the storage room, you will find everything you need," said the maid woman with a Siri's voice. Well, it was better than the Siri's voice, but the only monotone. I couldn't tell if she was angry or happy. Contrary to her voice, she had an astonishing beauty face, also her slender body gave her a more attractive.
We were standing in front of a big door. It looked like a door for a treasure chest. It was nicely silver-plated. Each of the facility, she had shown had a unique door, which was easy to memorize. The door of the training hall, which had the size of football place, had a green, black pattern. The training hall was equipment with a variety of mannequin, with the purpose to be punched by us.
After half an hour of sightseeing of different facilities in the biggest castle, we were now in the last room, which was in the basement. It seemed the basement was only dedicated to the storage room. There wasn't any other doors or other room.
"You can take what you want, these utilities are for yours", with this she let us inside.
After we entered the room, we were speechless. It was bigger and larger than everything we had seen. "Holy shit? Can we take it?" said a guy with wide-opened eyes. It reminded me of an outlet store, but 20 or 30 times bigger than usual. The hundred of shelves were crammed with different gears. Only boots had their own section. The colour range was from black to pink, also in different materials and in different sizes. Gloves, caps, capes. Some of the women let a scream like she found her dream place.
I scanned the shelves, different type of armours, from copper to fabric were there, in any size. "With this, you can equip a whole army, and still there will be any left" commented Jinwoo.
More I looked more things came out, but I couldn't find any weapons. Only gears and clothes were there. "Oh look potions? I think I will grabs some of them" said Jack and put some potion inside his treasure ring. There was a big wall with all kind of potion, from blue to green.
I didn't find any useful gear, which fit my taste. Also, I didn't know what should I pick, so I decided to pick it later. Insist on Jack, I took one potion and put it my treasure ring.
Only good looking boots and long gloves, which was long enough to protect my upper arm, took my attention, so put it in my treasure.
After several hours we went back to the hall, it was already dark outside, the dusk was already falling. We made a stop in the library to pick several books, which Jinwoo found them interesting. He got the same time a new skill "reading kill". It allowed him to take the knowledge of the book, while he was putting his right hand on the book cover. Really convenience skill. Besides, he was also a bookworm.
"I think I find a way to go back home," said Jinwoo confidently, and put several books from his treasure ring on the table. "We should go after the four weeks to the Empire Veritas". "Veritas?" said Jack and Paolo in sync.
Jinwoo explained the Empire was the strongest nation in this world. Also most heroes are living there. The goal of them was killing the Dark Lord. Geographically the Empire closest to the dark continent, both shared the same border. The second reason was the strongest hero, 13th, was also living there. "The most important thing is the 13th hero has the same goal as we, he wants to go back." He showed us several newspapers. I was surprised, and I never thought these people would have a newspaper. Jinwoo showed us a black-white picture of a guy. "So he is the strongest hero, 13th?". The hero seemed in his mid-twenty. I guessed he was two or three years older than me. "The Empire is the most northern country. Also, there is very cold, the temperature falls sometime under freezing point. We should prepare ourself".

Paolo didn't like the idea, and he replied "Don't we head first to the demi-humans tribe? I think it the best options." Jack only laughed about the question, and the three started a discussion. Jinwoo thinking was more rational, also an efficient way to go home. He substantiated with the evidence, to contrast Paolo, who was trying to win them with bunnies other enjoyment.
"I'm sure you will find some bunnies also in the Empire."
"What if not? we should first search for some bunnies; then we should head to the Empire."
"The hell not, didn't you listen, we should aim to find a way to home. After that, we should enough time..."
The situation quickly escalated. Jack tried to calm the quarrel.
The three was so deep discussion they had already forgotten me. I decided to take a break. As headed towards the bedroom, I collided with a girl, and she felt down. "Are you ok?" I asked her and stretched my hand to help her. I estimated her age between 16-18. She had short pink hair. She was holding something in the right hand, which looked like a smartphone. I was curious "Are you also from earth?". But instead an answer I got a pejorative look. She didn't say anything, she stood up and walked past as nothing had happened. She treated me like the air. "What the hell" I muttered and headed to the bathroom.
But I was interrupted by another woman. It was Slaya. "Are you Mr 100th?" she asked me. I nodded, it seemed they were referring all numbers. "Mr Deviant want to see you, can you come with me? Please bring your soul embryo with you". I showed my embryo, which was the whole time with me. Give them me a new one? I already thought about I got a rotten egg. I followed her.
She guided me towards the summoning room. She stood outside, and I entered the room. The room was the same, and only the ground wasn't shining like the summing time. I saw now Deviant who was looking at me. Without any formality, he asked me. "Can you show me your soul embryo".
Now I was able to see him close, and he was two meters tall, thin, he would be a good basketball player, his arm was long, as his leg. He had an ominous aura, which wrapped his thin body. I tried to look in his hood, but i couldn't see anything. Magic? It was only dark. "Here". I showed him the big egg. He moved his face near towards the egg and exterminated without touching it.
I had already experimented it several times. Shuffled, throw to the ground, nothing happened. The shell was hard, like a stone. I couldn't destroy it. Also, it didn't change, no runes or colour changing. The weight was the same.
"hmmm," he let a deep sighed. I said, "I think I got a rotten egg, can you give me a new one?". After a silence, he said to me. "He isn't a hero. It seems like some false heroes were summoned by the summoning ritual. I have to dispose of him." he made a gesticulation with his hand.
He spoke like he found expired food in his fridge, which needed to put in the garbage. Also, he talked to himself than me. It seemed I was non-exist for him. But I was surprised by how calm I was. It came from my experience as a fighter. I took my stance for defence, even he was strong, I wouldn't go easily down.

"Wha-" before I could do anything, my surrounding changed suddenly. The wall was replaced by trees. I was now outside. Where the hell I am? This is no the earth. He didn't send me back, I was sure. Where he has to teleport me? I observed my surrounding, I was sure in a forest, and I couldn't find a castle or any building. The one thing was the sea of trees. The kicked me out, why the hell they don't send me back? Suddenly I felt a dangerous glance. Something was observing me. I got a familiar feeling. There is something. I can feel it, a dangerous, a monster? If came to dangerous I had a six sense for that. This strange feeling had saved my life many times in the past. Now I felt the same strange feeling. I wished I had a sword or something with me.
I heard many footsteps behind me. I turned my face towards the source...
The beautiful full moon was shining through the clear night sky today. There are no stars in this world. What made the full moon bigger and gave a beautiful view. "Today, we have a clear night sky. It is a weird sight, to see a night sky without stars. Without the full moon, it will be very dark here." said Paolo looking through the window. "Indeed. It has really an apocalypse atmosphere," added Jack. The full moon was shining the whole year. " I couldn't find any scientific evidence information in the book. I would say the stand of this world would be 14th or 15th century. First, I thought we were summoned in another planet in our Milky Way, but now I think we are in a parallel universe. " said Jinwoo. "It seems this world has its own astronomy laws, which is strongly different from our world."
"Where is Vin?" asked Jack suddenly as he felt someone wasn't here. "Good question, wasn't he here?" gave Paolo an answer and wondering about the absence of Vin. The three looked to the other tables, which slowly filled with others. It was already dinner time. Vin hadn't a strong presence to notice him easily. "Man, where is he?".
Like Vin, there were several people missing. A young girl with chestnut hair was standing, clasped her soul weapon and looking in the crowd. She was fighting back her tears and was trying to find her friend, which was missing since the evening. She looked to each person, hoping she could find her in the crowd.
Deviant appeared and greeted them. " My dear heroes, I hope you feel now more comfortable. I heard you had fun today. I'm very happy that no one left the summoning place. I hold back small information. But now I can say it. Each soul monster in this world is stronger than level one. So if you have decided to go outside, you have died in an instant."
The shy girl, who was standing now, raised her arm. She took her courage together and asked. "Ehm, Mr Deviant, do you know where Layle is? Ehm... I mean...ehm..87th hero? We both... ehm.. are friend" her voice was shaking, but it was understandable. Her body was trembling like she was in a freezer. Deviant turned his face towards the woman.
"Hero 87th?" he thought "Ah, she isn't coming back anymore. Also, it applies for 88th, 89th and for 100th heroes. They are false hero, so I send them away," said he. The woman froze and felt to her seat. But her hope didn't disappear, and the number 87 was still on the blackboard.
"This is my last attend here, my dear heroes. I will be not here anymore. I hope we see us again. My servants will be the whole time here, and you can ask them everything." With this, he said goodbye and left.
Even on the table of Jack, they felt a little tense, and they didn't know how to react. Also, they flinched towards the blackboard, and the number 100th was still there.
But the silence was broken by a scream of another woman, a red-haired woman. The number 89th disappeared first, followed by the other two, remained only the number 100th.
Paolo and others were holding they breathe, but it didn't take long before also the number vanished from the blackboard. The three felt like they took a cold shower.
In only a few seconds, the number of heroes decreased from 72 to 68 heroes.
"hehe, weakling deserve this, shit gonna shit, eh? hehehe," Reck mocking voice resonated through the big hall.
He stamped with his feet on the table that the food fell to the ground."Only the strongest survive, weakling, die. This is also the destiny of yours, you weaklings".
"The damn brat--" said Paolo and tried to stand, was pressed back in his chair by Jack muscle body. "Don't let you provoke. It makes everything worse", said Jinwoo, his eyes was sparkling with anger and hatred. Paolo greeted his teeth. "We should concentrate on becoming stronger, also for Vin," said Jack, while his body quaked for anger. All three nodded the same time.
Suddenly a big brightness filled the whole hall, followed by a big thunder. It was loud enough to make their eardrums to shake.
The heroes winced, as they heard the sound. All their eyes were fixed on the window. "What the hell going outside..."

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

I always dreamed of being one of the Awakened, one of the heroes that fights back the Insanity on his own terms. They’re always pictured driving the newest cars, wearing the latest clothes, using the best gene-mods and implants. They’re supposed to be more than just human. At least, that’s what I thought until I Awakened. Now my life is a mess of corporate intrigue, shifty politics, cyberzombies and at least one group of revolutionaries whose ideas are sounding better every day. I never wanted to be the punk that brought the system down, but the temptation to just glitch out is growing by the minute. Glitch is a Cyberpunk LitRPG set in a near future where some people are given abilities that allow them to do things that no normal human could ever do. This fiction is written, maintained and owned by Edgar Malboeuf. Copyright 2018

Wherever you go, whether it be be a bustling metropolis or wild and untamed lands, sentients of every race and creed have some sort of belief in the supernatural. Every culture has stories of mighty beings, incomprehensible in both nature and noticeably, malice. Though many once wished for these stories to be true, they eventually lost much of the significance they once held; yet, the people who told the tales in the first place left them there as lessons. Vital lessons, and more importantly, warnings. Because even though humanity and it's allies had taken to the heavens and prospered like never before, their actions had caused sleeping dragons to stir. Across the universe, a bitter war between mortal and spiritual forces is being waged. Humanity now faces extinction, and if we don't play our cards right, extinction is all but certain. But even though their adversaries have veritable gods among them, humanity still has a few tricks up it's sleeve...
