《Why do I have to be the SI?!》Chapter 9

Killing others while knowing that their very soul will be sucked up and consumed after death isn’t fun never let anyone tell you otherwise. After making my solemn vow to destroy the parasites I finished what I started and ended the rest of the soldiers suffering.
Not long after that Ivan informed me that the nanites had finished creating the bunker and that it was now inhabitable. With a nod we packed up everything we had laying around and started moving into the bunker.
Let me tell you it was a lot different than I thought it would be, first off the first layer below ground was pretty massive. I would say about the size of a mid-sized house on it’s own in pure width. Though it was only about ten-foot tall.
We moved most of the equipment we had into the second floor, which was smaller than the first floor by a good bit. Where the first floor was about the size of a mid-sized house the second was about the size of a large apartment. Though you can tell that where the first floor is meant to be sort of a generalist floor, the second was meant for something like security or controlling the complex as a whole.
Which was why I decided to set up most of our stuff there so when we had everything set up so we could grab anything I might need from our supplies we could get to them easy enough. Then there was the fact that we would basically be living next to the spot where I planned to install the true security system.
If your wondering, the bunker does come with a passive defense system such as wards that cause people to simply overlook it as well as some small shield generators that should be able to stop anything this primitive world can throw at it.
The reason that I’m planning on increasing the defensive power of a bunker that could push back anything this world has is simple. They were fuck off stupid and with absolutely idiotic parasitic god’s they opened up the gate to a modern fucking world. Not just that either they tried to invade it! So yeah the modern military of japan could most likely get past the shield with enough concentrated fire power.

Then there’s the fact there allied with the U.S and no way am I chancing fucking nukes being deployed. So yeah after we put up our supplies such as food and the like in the fridge that the bunker had made for us in a burst of magic after I gave the command I sat down and started to explore my connection with it in depth.
The first thing I noticed was how alive the complex felt not only was the magic in the facility constantly flowing and being generated from somewhere, but it was also seeming to slowly purify the magic that came from the environment and converting it to the more pure magic that the Ulmish used.
Then there was the way it seemed to wave around happily every time I tapped into my connection with it seeming to enjoy the contact with me. Then I remembered why it seemed to be so alive. You see the Ulmish had almost perfected not just digitally based AI but AI that was based on and around magic. Thus not only were they attuned to magic but they could also evolve with it.
Well at least to the limits of their programming. Anyways I started to actively try to find the facilities AI so I could figure out not only what I could do to Improve our defense's, but also figure out where all the excess magic is coming from.
Eventually I was able to find him and let's just say I expected something a little different from what I got. “Oh! Oh! If it isn’t the creator himself what can I do for you? Do you need food? Water? Toilet paper?!” I felt my jaw drop as the hyperactive AI kept talking and talking about what I might need, before I finally Interrupted him. “No no stop I’m ok on basic supplies.”
I could feel the pause as he seemed to be trying to find out why I had sought him out before responding. “So what can I do for you, creator? Anything you need I will create at a moment's notice, anything, anything at all!”

I simply lightly shook my head and replied. “I have some questions. First do you have any better defenses that you can make to Increase the overall defensiveness of the bunker? Second, where the hell is all this magic coming from?”
He looked at me strangely for a second before he said, “Of course I can increase the amount of defenses created. I am a bunker after all. If I couldn’t then I wouldn’t deserve such a title. To answer your second question the magical generators that give the bunker most of its power doesn’t have much to power at the moment so the excess magic is pooling getting ready for use.”
I mentally face palmed as I realized how stupid my questions had been before asking the question I should have asked originally. “So what kind of defenses can you make?” He seemed to perk up at that and started to speak.
“Well considering the relatively small size of the reactor at the moment we could make either a few of type-1 and type-2 defenses or we could go with a single type-3 while the type-3 will be very powerful on its own I cannot recommend it.”
As I let that soak in I looked at the mental database of info I had for what all that actually meant. After looking for it I found It showed different levels of Ulmish equipment. With type one basically being the type of stuff that can be bought and used by the civilians of the empire. Type-2 being things used by Empire wide police or planetary defense forces. With type-3 being used by the Ulmish Military.
“Well let’s upgrade the shield generator to a heavy type-2, then add five medium type-2 turrets to the entryway and the first floor. Then use the rest of the power to charge some wards that will stop teleportation, divine interference, and the strength of the bunker itself.”
With a smile he nodded and I could feel the magic in the facility moving this way and that as the forges in the deeper parts of the facility spin up and pull in magic and the raw materials the nanites had gathered when constructing the facility. Along with that the magic started to carve the sigils onto the walls while at the same time filling in the already carved ones.
With a nod I let go of the connection and opened my eyes. “Hadrian I want you to set up a gun range on the third floor along with a training ground on floor four.” With a salute he ran off to fulfill my orders as I turned to Ivan. “ Ivan I need you to help the bunker set up the turrets I have building into the best possible positions on the first floor and the entrance, understood?” With another salute he was off to the first floor.
With both of them gone I once again focused on the magic I could feel becoming easier and easier to control as I continued to use it. Then when I felt the wards completely come up I dove into my mind to search for the instructions to figure out what I could do to help me get better.
With a push of will the full scope of the knowledge I contained on magic of the Ulmish variety hit me. I fell deeper into my mind and revealed the knowledge that I was looking for.

Lawman.
Lawman follows the exploits of Relovan, a Human Police Enforcer stationed on the BlargonianPlanets – a series of small planets on which pure Essence is mined, and refined into fuel. On hisday off, he finds himself and his fellow Enforcers caught up in a fight between two Void Lords, beings of immense power, who answer only to the Council, after the pair of Void Lords touchdown on the Station, seeking to refuel their respective Void Walkers. In the ensuing clash,Relovan punches above his weight and subdues a number of Void Knights – those in the serviceof the Void Lords – before becoming directly involved in the confrontation between the VoidLords themselves. His performance during the incident catches the attention of the current PoliceChief, Nura, who essentially takes him under his wing, and assists him in various ways, including when he is summoned to answer before the Council for getting involved in the spatbetween the two Void Lords. The book ends after the conclusion of the Hearing.Relovan is a stickler for the Law – something that prompted him to learn not only the laws ofvarious territories and planetary systems, but also the native languages and customs, so as touphold the law as best he can. As a highly trained, and immensely skilled former soldier,Relovan’s abilities along with his latent talent regarding the use of Essence, allow him to hangwith beings infinitely more powerful than him. Lawman is a full length manuscript that I will likely self publish once I have the artwork for it.
