《Game, Set, Match》A Change of Perspective

OOH, my chance to do ominous notes! You're gonna need to protect any kids under the age of about twelve, they have an almost guaranteed chance to breach the Veil as they get older, and that's going to be SUPER important in making sure you don't get swallowed up by some roving monster horde or raider group. Also, cars will start randomly exploding after a couple of weeks, so avoid using them. After that, you need to hunt down some tools, like sledgehammers and the like. It's important I swear.

I'm Astrea, that wasn't always my name, but it is now. My first experience with the Lady of Light, Prometheus, and the Veil was very similar to Exxy's (he's going to insist I call him Excalibur, but he's just being childish and thinks it sounds cool). I touched the Veil on my first attempt, and it was weird, as in, a blind person can suddenly see weird. I was, at the time, a student-teacher at the Desori Central Acadamy, where almost every student on the main Island is educated from kindergarten to twelfth grade. I had been handling some fifth and sixth graders when everything happened, and of course, most of the older staff died. I was left with a group of terrified and crying children with no concept of what was happening and no way to contact their parents. I briefly saw a group of what looked like junior high kids march past heading for the train station, and then nobody for hours while I tried to corral the little ones and waited for their parents to show up. A few of them even did.

A group of student-teachers took the kids who lived in different directions towards their homes, called it a walking-bus, the kids ate it up. I was simply left with the children of the more affluent families who lived a significant distance away, in the manors and villas of the wealthy neighborhoods.

Thus, I think you can understand my astoundment when Exxy here "accidentally" broke down the door to the cafeteria we were in while looking for his sister. The children, of course, jumped and screamed, it's hard to avoid being a little scared when someone who looks like a mountain relative to you breaks a door down by knocking on it as you would normally to ask to be let in. Talking to the insufferable guy for a while we determined that his sister was probably with the group headed to the train station. As many of the children under my care lived that(ish) way as well, we headed as a group.

Have you ever seen people uncomfortable around children? Like bees to flowers, they will flock to that person, seemingly taking perverse joy in the mild annoyance they can cause. Exxy is not in any way good with kids, it's hilarious to watch as children demand answers and he gets more and more uncomfortable and slightly frightened. One of the few pleasures of that day was watching him quite literally squirm in misery as he carried several children too tired to walk, good times.

As we walked we compared experiences, spoke in hushed whispers about what to do about the dead people scattered everywhere, and debated on whether or not the government was going to be functional (spoiler: no).

Then we caught up to the group with his sister, and shit got a little weirder.
