《James Hunter》Chapter 5

I left her like that, if she would run then I’ll just kill her. I turned to the black hair girl and grabbed her by the nape before walking to the room. It was amusing watching her lover trying to squirm around but failing but I had to give him proper respect.
He, at least, tried.
I moved the weapons off the bed into the storage room before tossing my prey onto the red covers. She squirmed into a seating position with her back against the wall. Her eyes were red and I think she messed up her face paint.
Walking back out, I grabbed the foot of her lover and dragged him into the room. I tossed him up against the wall that led to the bathroom. After depositing him, I stood up with my hands on my hips, considering my next move. Was I going too far? I already reaped some revenge and by killing them, I will feel the same relief that I just got by letting them enjoy that little play.
Yet, was I not going too far with this? Would Bella have cared for this?
Aye, what the fack am I saying? Hurt them until it doesn’t make you hard and then chop their heads off and mount them like my ancestors would have done.
Decision made, I walked over the soon to be meat bag and opened the closet. Bending down to bring out a dagger, then I turned around slowly, running the side of the edge of the blade over my fingertips. Stalking to the black hair lass as she shrunk in on herself.
Oh, her mouth was still running but she felt genuine fear of me. But it didn’t stop the lines at her mouth as she scowled me in her own tongue. It made me think of all the times Bella scowled me with a fierce face, when I tried to act lazy and stay inside during the winter, but who likes the cold?
‘If you aren’t going to hunt now, then what do you expect those fat belly fools to leave you? It doesn’t take blue blood to learn how to set traps. Beasts ain’t the smartest of creatures out there. Or how else do you think you managed to kill them?’
I gripped her neck as she tried to jerk away from me. Pulling her close to my face as I stabbed the knife into the bed. With a free hand, I began untying her knots. I released her as the last of the ropes pooled onto the bed.
She instantly rubbed her wrist before sending a straight jab at me. Her fist landed in my palm and I flipped her onto her back as I crawled into bed. I released her fist as she got up on her elbow and shot a kick at me.
I blocked her leg at the thigh and grabbed the dagger which put an end to her fighting spirit as she scrambled away. I pointed at her lover and leaned downward, over the edge of the bed as I cut deep enough to gather a hiss out of him.
The girl's eyes widened and her lips thin as she gritted her teeth. Her eyes bouncing back and forth between my blade and her lover. I spun the dagger in my hand around until the blade rested on my palm then I held it out for her. Grinning like the devil I was becoming.
“You managed to cut me and I’ll let your lover go.” I said so much just because I knew she couldn’t understand me.

However, she gripped the hilt and stabbed at me. It was pretty much amateurish but I still took care to grab from the outside. I locked onto her wrist and guided the blade out of her hand with a soft twist. Catching the dagger with my other hand, I leaned back and cut her lover who tried to move out the way but lack proper momentum.
I flipped the blade again. She looked at it with frustration plastered on her face. I could tell without a doubt that she really wanted to kill me. Yet, she didn’t grab the dagger this time. She just screamed at me.
Probably asking what I wanted.
So I guided the dagger at her womanly assets. Her teeth gritted and she grabbed the hem of her shirt before taking it off. Scooting forward on her knees to turn around to present her round bottom to me.
I knelt behind her and tapped her ass with the blade of the dagger. She huffed before reaching underneath her as she grabbed my shaft. Her rough fingers glided over the skin before she guided it into herself. Her knees moved backward a bit as she scooted back and into an easier rocking position. Her ass rolled backward all slowly and while I couldn’t see her face, I bet she was gritting her teeth.
“Faster.” my voice must have annoyed her but she understood the intent as she stopped that slow movement. Her hips slowly picked up speed as she went from rocking extra slow on her knees to moving fast enough that her shoulders were rotating against her skin. I could perfectly see the muscles groups activating as she slammed her round ass back.
I could also tell that she hadn’t recovered enough from the earlier activity. As once her ass hits my hips, she won’t connect for another six thrust. Or well, unless I thrust forward to meet her. I leaned over her and she slowed her movements as I slammed the dagger into the bed beside her hand. She didn’t even flinch but she did stare at it.
Probably contemplating if she could have picked it up and stabbed me faster than I could block it. Though it seems she was waiting for the right moment as she put more effort into pleasing me. I felt her tighten herself like she didn’t do before. It felt pretty great when she tugged on me as she pulled herself forward.
I grabbed her rather small breast that to me seemed to hang at the end of her chest like a drop of gravy. I let her work her magic right up until my balls were ready to explode. I back out and turned her around. Like the savage animal I was, I came on her chest and stomach.
Had to mark my territory.
The way her mouth parted as if to curse me out but she closed it and took a deep breath. I didn’t bother with her anger control issues and pushed her onto her back. Her eyes widened as her arms swept forth to catch her. I saw it in her eyes the moment her fingers brushed past the hilt of the dagger. I saw the intent in her to grab it as her fingers flexed but then she relaxed and spread her legs while turning to look out the window.
As I squared up between her legs, I could hear the curses of her lover as he finally got to his knees again. The sound of our flesh hitting changed from a soft thumping to this squishy sound and I could slip and slide in her much easier. I felt her tensing up and she closed her lips tighter than she was grabbing me. You could see the fine lines in it as she clenched the bed covers.

I leaned over and breathed heavily on her neck as my chest pushed down on her. Squeezing her breast between us as I thrust slowly to build up the fun. Well, fun for me.
I felt her go off just as I heard the loud rumbling sound that reminded me of a large mountain beast. From the way her eyes flew open and then a calm smirk grew on her lips as she sunk a little into the beds. Let me know that she knew who or what that was.
Getting off her, I grabbed my pants and gear. Slipping them on as I open the curtains and look down at the ground to see several carriages and men hanging out of them, pulling into the yard.
I turned around to see if the girl would grab the dagger and cut the ropes of her boyfriend but nope. She laid in bed, watching me with a strange gaze. I glanced back at the fools hollering before I studied the window to figure out how it opens. It took me only a second to see the lever on the side that flips upward.
Sliding the window backwards, I took an arrow out the quiver and took aim. My lips twisted into a grin as the first arrow slammed into an asshole looking cool. Smoking while leaning back against the carriage. My second arrow pierce through two people raising their hands up for some odd reason. I can’t believe I got off a third and fourth arrow as the fools were literally looking at the first two people.
What kind of world was this?
I stepped back into the room, letting the curtain block the view as I tied rope around my waist. I tied the other end to the girl lover and I watched her start to sit up as worry hit her like a tree being set on fire.
A deep rumbling laugh fell out of my chest as I spun on my heel and flew out the window. Taking a good part of the frame with me. I quickly reorient myself and began firing down upon the fools below.
They went from staring up at me to eyes widened and screams escaping them to running for cover. Only two of them even realized they were holding anything resembling a weapon. What surprised me was that two men got out of the car and took aim at me with small crossbows. Their aims were precise. Aiming directly at my chest with accuracy that scared me a little.
My axe flew into my hand as my bow dropped to the ground. I easily blocked the bolts and felt a tug on the line that pulled me out the way of the rest of the bolts. I was still high above the ground but that ended up quite different a second later.
When the lover boy came out the window along with his lover. I cut the rope before kicking off the wall to push me out of their path and in the direction of a prey who didn’t expect me to accelerate in an entirely different direction.
The fool brought his large crossbow up to fire but I chopped through him before he was ready. My forward momentum slammed me into that hard ass carriage and we both spun. I heard the roars of the weapons stop just as I stumbled out of the wreck of the wheelhouse.
Looking around about four of the men were up and running. A few more were driving away in two carriages. I wish I didn’t leave my spear upstairs, but before I could regret it. Several arrows dropped the men running and stuck into the wheels of the carriages.
Two women came out of the building with swords at the ready. They sprinted off faster than I did but I had an excuse. I fell into an armored carriage. The men in the carriages rushed out with crossbows up but these women weren’t daffodils. They zig zag when they had to but deflected when they couldn’t.
Doing a better job than I did as I took a bolt to the arm as I stumbled in mid preparation to leap up. The guy I was aiming for rolled out of the way and had his crossbow pointing in my face when I landed but he made the mistake of speaking.
I didn’t know what the fuck they were saying, anyway. So I just slapped his crossbow away and split him in half with my axe. I was just about to find the next target when I realized that the girls had everything handled. Men withered on the ground like wet worms. Screaming like little women while women work slowly to tie up the real warriors among the group.
Damn, I feel old. Too old to be competing with these younguns. I left them to their victims and went to check on my prey. I couldn’t help shaking my head as both of them were dead. I just would have to mark the other three.
Glancing at the sky, I realized I should get some sleep instead. No, I had to make food for that girl. Aye, life hard.
I turned to walk to the gate but then remember I didn’t have my spear with me, so turned back towards the building. Halfway there the chief’s woman came walking out, looking as if taking over the remnants of the tribe put weight on her shoulders. Yet, she did look absolutely stunning with her hair up in a bun and that one loose strand curled down the side of her face. Those wrinkles didn’t take away from her appeal, they only added to.
Her eyes drifted over me and I saw the look of annoyances that caused her crows feet to deepen.
“James.”
“Lynne.” I responded in an amused tone.
Her step faltered as she took a step beside me. Her luscious lips parted before she threw her head forward. Adding a little haste to her step to get away from me that much faster.
Chuckling, I jogged up the stairs and was pleased to find my spear on the ground. However, the older woman had untied the youngest girl, her daughter I guess. I looked at the women who had turned from the window to look at me with fear on their face.
The older woman steps forward while keeping her daughter behind her with one hand. She began speaking but I haven't a clue of what she was saying. Ignoring her pointless gesture, I walked out the door to find the hunter girl garb in sword and bow like she was going somewhere.
“I want to go with you.”
She had her chin stuck up like she wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
“Okay, what’s your name?”
“Ika and the old one said that they won’t run. So pleased don’t tie them up again. They’ll also clean and cook.”
I shrugged as I jog to the stairway and down the long flights of stairs. Ika was right behind me with steps just a bit louder than I would have liked.
We passed by the men and the carriages. Apparently, the new tribe chief doesn’t believe in killing her enemies as I didn’t see additional blood stains. We cut west instead of heading east into the stone jungle. There were much more trees this way and buildings were spread out. A lot of them had broken doors or windows. Blood stains or decayed bodies littered the streets. There was even a body on a stone fence.
The fool was too slow to hop the fence before something ripped into his lower body. I glance at Ika to see her keeping her eyes peel. The deaths did not bother her at all. It was good to see and I already knew she had decent reaction speed. I just hope she won't freeze up…
“I’m telling you that those pointy-eared elves killed some deer out this way. We can easily copy them with our guns and be gone before anything shows up.” Ika translated their conversation, at the instance we picked up their voices.
I grinned as I jumped over a stone gate and crouched slowly as I pulled out my bow. I felt Ikaa step behind me as we walked towards the loudmouths who ignored the hunters in the world. We came up on them quite quickly.
Two dumbasses with their crossbows strung across their backs. To make it worse, they were being followed by three elves. The elves were fluttering across the stone fence on the other side. However, something felt wrong. Nobody should ignore the elves with them being that open in their pursuit.
No, wait.
The quiet human was standing tense with a hand on his waist but he had no belt, yet his pants tugout a bit. I held up my fist and sat there and watched. I had a feeling that the humans were setting a trap.
Ika looked at me curiously but I was studying all the buildings behind us. The houses were parted by a good distance but there were two with height enough to watch over this street. One had windows watching this street.
I studied that window and caught a glint and a shadow moving inside. Clicking my teeth, I began crouch jogging out of the line of sight.
“Humans set a trap. We are going to kill both groups.”
Ikamerely nodded as she unsheathed her blade. We inched across the ground as the sounds of gunfire interrupted the birds’ songs. We got to the back door and I slowly turned the knob when I heard voices on the other side.
-We should have tried to negotiate first with these elves. Instead of going into war with them. We only have four people who can stand up or hunt them but they have tons of people who can get the jump on ours. This is a lose… -
-Donna, I’m tired of your shit. We are doing this. Everybody voted for it. If you don’t like it then leave. See how well you will survive without us.-
Oh, Ika is very useful.
Putting down my bow, I grabbed my dagger and threw open the door as I flew in. My body spun off the counter into a guy who was pulling a waistband. out his waistband. With a growl, I brought the dagger through his neck and was diving to get out of the way of the next crossbow.
I licked the blood off my lips as I eased around the corner of the counter. The poor fool's footsteps echo on the tile as he searched for me. His partner's choking sound overwhelms Ina's almost silent footsteps.
Her arrow cut through the air and lifted the poor guy off his feet before he knew what happened. I was up and moving before his body hit the floor. My eyes widen like deers before they are taken down as I saw two large branches of flames coming towards me. I threw myself backward as I felt something tug in my stomach.
The floor shattered as a brown wall appeared to block the fire. An earthly smell calmed me down as I scrambled onto my feet and looked at the brown wall that dissipated into fine dirt a second later.
I looked at Ika who was staring at me with an open mouth awe.
-Whoever you are, you best be prepared to face God today!-
I couldn’t help rolling my eyes as I dashed down the corridor to find this tiny woman standing there with fire rolling in her hands. I almost felt like kicking myself as she threw one of them at me. I jerked my hand up to block the fire but earth tore through the floor. Blocking it for me as my body spinned to dodge the pillar.
The woman's eyes narrowed as she launched the neck then cup her hand facing me, a pillar of flames shot from her hand.
My eyes widen at the impossibility of this shit happening. Well, more at the fact that pillar of dirt rising up in front of me in a way that I couldn’t stop.
The woman grunted just as I burst through the pillar hat turned back into sand. I expected her to take a punch to the temple but she roundhouse kicked me into the wall. Even though it wasn’t nearly enough to put me down, the force of her kick was more than it should have been. I half wondered if she was some kind of animal as well.
Before I could climb out of the all dent, she laid several quick punches to my chest. My ribs creaked under the intense punishment. I couldn’t help but balling up as she laid into me. Giving me not a chance to breathe, like I was what was wrong with the world or something.
A strong wind blew by me as the punishment ceased. I balled up and stood up to see Ika putting the beat down on the little warrior girl. I wanted to cheer but I felt kind of unmanly cheering for Ikawhen her opponent put the beat down on me. It felt oddly strange for me to be getting my ass kicked while this novice beating the opponent who got the drop on me.
I rubbed my jaw.
Fucking great cheap shot!

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
