《The Strongest Soul》Chapter 8: Dissection

“Your skin is soft and delicate. Your teeth are still there. Your hair is gorgeous. Your eyes are big and round. You’re just the perfect specimen… to cut up and dissect from the outside to the inside.” The person that spoke had a soft voice and was clearly a young woman.
Although the voice was soft and warm, Kain couldn’t help but shudder when he heard the words being spoken. This woman obviously had mental problems and was about to try to kill him right now.
Thud. Thud. Thud. The woman walked closer to Kain with each step. On the way she stopped by a wall and lit up a torch. The fire was somehow still dim and barely made anything visible. But it was still enough to make out the features of the woman who was in the room with him.
She wore black clothes that covered all of her skin. Her eyes were a deep jade green and her hair was black and frizzled. Her appearance looked young, only about in her mid twenties, but the scar on her throat made her look fierce instead of beautiful.
The woman then walked over to a nearby table and picked up what looked to be a rusted scalpel. She looked deeply all over the scalpel as if inspecting every bit of it, then she walked over to a corner in the room. In the corner there was a little setup that consisted of a round stone and a chair. She sat in the chair and put her foot on a pedal. This got the stone moving around. Putting the scalpel against the moving stone, a scraping noise started to resound. Clearly, she was sharpening her tool.
Kain watched all of this happen with fear in his eyes. She was actually planning on cutting him up! ‘I have to get out of this place and make my way home!’ Kain tried to struggle some more out of the ropes but still couldn’t manage to break free even with his increased strength. ‘What kind of ropes are these?’
While the woman was sharpening her scalpel she spoke. “You can’t escape from those ropes. They were made from a powerful expert long ago and passed down in my family. Not even the Two-headed Reaper Wolf can break free from those ropes if it was ever tied up, let alone you. Just sit tight and wait until I get there.” A wicked smile played across her face while she continued to sharpen her scalpel. Occasionally stopping to look at the tool and then continuing on.

A few minutes passed with only the sound of scraping being heard. The woman stood up from the chair and then made her way over to Kain. She walked slowly and heavily. Once she made it to his side she looked down upon his body. Her eyes seemed to be filled with lust as she looked over every inch of his body. His skin was completely bare and it looked completely flawless. Living on this planet, that was only possible if you were just born. Never was it seen that someone his age could have flawless skin.
“Amazing. You have to be around 7 or 8 years old yet your skin is absolutely perfect. Not only that, but you were just being chased by wolves and you don’t have a scratch on you.” The woman tapped on Kain’s skin a couple of times and inspected it thoroughly.
Kain could do little more than just look around and go through with what she was doing to him. Finally he felt her stop touching him. She moved to the side of him and bent over to look at his arm.
“How interesting.” She kept on repeating. Finally she grabbed onto his forearm and stroked it up and down. She then stopped when she felt something and picked up her scalpel and rested it on his skin. “Right here should do.” She pressed down with the scalpel and made a slicing motion.
Kain took in a deep breath and prepared for the cutting to begin. But after a moment—nothing happened. He looked over to see that the woman was frowning and that her brows were furrowed.
“His skin is tough: A lot tougher than I thought. How can it be so soft and flawless yet also be so resilient?” The woman spoke to herself as she exited the room.
Kain just laid there. ‘Is my skin really that tough? She wasn’t able to cut into me at all.’ He mused to himself for a moment until the sound of heavy boots entered his ears once more. This time, an additional pair of boots could be heard. They sounded heavier than the womans.

“I’m telling you that his skin is abnormally tough. I’m not able to cut through it at all, even when I sharpened my scalpel. It’s as soft as a newborn but as tough as stone.” The woman could be heard explaining her predicament.
“I’ll see for myself.” A heavy deep voice resounded just behind her. Kain could easily tell that this man was older than her by more than a few years.
The two stopped beside Kain’s body as the man took his time inspecting it. He tapped on the skin a few times and even plucked at it. He rubbed his hand along Kain’s body at some points and even let it rest at others. By his movements, Kain could tell he was much more skilled than the woman.
‘Just what are they trying to do to me? Who are these people?’ Kain thought to himself. When he saw the man pick up the scalpel he just hoped that it wouldn’t be able to pierce his skin just like it had with the woman.
The man walked around Kain’s body until he reached the side of his arm. Rubbing his hand along the forearm he stopped and pressed down with his hand. The man bent down toward the arm and looked closely at it for a moment.
Kain could finally get a view of the man’s face. He had black hair and a full black beard. Gray’s could be seen sparsely mixed in with the black hair though. He had soft wrinkles on his forehead and on his hand. His other hand was gloved up and covered along with the rest of his body. He wore a half mask on his face that only covered his mouth and nose so his jade green eyes could be seen easily. From the appearance, one could tell that the woman and the man were related.
Finally, the man put the scalpel against Kain’s arm. He didn’t push down immediately though as he seemed to be thinking of something. After a moment though he pushed down anyways. Just like before, nothing happened. In fact, the scalpel actually broke apart instead!
The man stood back up and grabbed his chin as if contemplating something. “Hmm. I see now. Fetch me the Demon Scalpel.” The man said calmly. But if you listened closely one could hear the anxious feelings in his voice rising up slightly.
Kain got extremely nervous all of a sudden. If at first his mind was like he heard thunder in the distance, then now it was like he was standing in the middle of a fierce lightning storm and could be struck at any moment.
The woman quickly left and then returned. She handed over a small tool to the man and then backed away. The man held the tool in his hand and looked at it warmly. It looked just like a regular scalpel except the blade was azure in color. Even in the dim light the blade shined with a radiant azure.
The man put the Demon Scalpel on Kain’s skin. “Let’s see how you stand up to this.” With practiced movements the man made a quick swipe of his hand pressing down onto Kain’s arm with the scalpel. This simple motion surprisingly didn’t cut his arm at all!
“What? It’s still not able to cut into him? How can this be?” The man was utterly surprised by this turn of events. This was the best blade that they had in this place. It was even able to cut the skin of many beasts and even some rocks, let alone human skin. This kind of situation was just impossible to imagine happening.
Kain on the other hand breathed a huge sigh of relief in his mind. Now, no longer worried about being tested on, he started to think of ways to escape this dreadful place.
