《Monster? So be it,》Chapter 5

"The winds had gotten colder," I sighed as I continued to hammer the sharpened ribcages on my makeshift cart, the small tree I had used to make the brick mold was still relatively large and was surprisingly big enough make 8 more wooden boards of different sizes for my cart. Though, I still had to chop a few more to make the platform for my pulley back at the cliff; all of which will be made to make the transfer of my Clay Pots easier. I have a whole lot of work ahead of me,
The wind brushed passed me as I gave out another sigh, making me look over the still wet pelt on my drying rack. It had come from a weasel like animal with a body long enough to coil around me twice, it seems that the mustelids in this forest had become quite overpowered; with the damn thing possessing the annoying features of the ever so energetic weasel, and the strength of a bear. Still though, I've always liked their pelts, and having one this storm season doesn't sound too bad honestly.
And tommorrow, with the permission I was given by the protector of this place, I would go out and actively hunt for something that would actually give me water proof clothing.
I hummed as I eyed my work, a cart and a platform, the perfect thing to have when you want to move bricks. Speaking of which, and as expected- the one's I had recently made with gravel in them turned out even better than the one's made out of just pure mud. The newly created bricks sat under the sun, dried and ready to be used for construction.
Patting myself on the back, I put 4 empty Clay Pots on my cart and carried them down hill.
While I was adding the platform to my strengthened pulley, I had seen something quite interesting on the pond; a gecko with a puffed up head crest ate one of the newts; and after less than 5 seconds, the reptile stopped moving and died, it's mouth bubbling and all that. Knowing that the amphibians were poisonous was good enough, but something even better happened- the smell of gasoline suddenly lingered on the air, it wasn't much, but it was plenty enough for me to notice and look down on the sudden rainbow that had risen up from the pond.
I mentally took notes and continued my work.
Thanks to the new and improved pulley system, the Pots easily went down the cliff. And, considering that the river is a major landmark that usually leads to settlements; I feel like I would be using this system more and more often.
"Especially when I start trading..."
So, after that, I went down the cliff myself and continued my work on gathering gravel, with a wooden trowel this time around.

With my new tools, each Pot had only taken me 3 hours each to fill. And I went home and continued on making more concrete with the sun still up.
The day went by in a flash as I made brick after brick, the building materials eventually numbered in the hundreds.
I collected even more gravel for concrete the next day and after about 3 more return trips or so, I tied together a few sticks to make a ladder.
After that I pulverized more stone, mixed the powder up with gravel and created concrete in the middle of my flat foundation, before finally starting on the construction of the walls for my future house.
I plastered conrete on the house's foundation, put a brick on top of the viscous mixture then I finished by smothering the brick's top and sides with concrete, I then place another brick on the concrete before it dries; I repeated this process over and over till it finally reached noon, in which I started to make 6 diagonal L shaped ( \_ ) beams using planks made from newly chopped wood to support my roof.
My bone supply had almost run out after all the beams had been finished. Afterwards, with the sun about to set, I placed the last layer of walls and smothered them with concrete; the beams were placed on top of them as the concrete dried, then, after turning all of the remaining bones into nails- I hammered my rooftop's foundation into the walls.
The sun had set, but my house finally looked like one. The only thing it was missing was a door, a ceiling, and a roof. No windows of course, the whole concept of that can burn in hell for all I care. I needed warmth, and I sure as well would get it.
The next morning, I grabbed the remaining bricks and started working my chimney, I decided to place it in the middle of the room and when I was done; I constructed a roof using thatch and wood, my new roof was put on standby on one of the walls as I started hammering the first layer- a wooden roof that would keep out heat but can easily breakdown and rot under the rain.
Once I had covered the glaring holes above my house; I chopped up more young trees to create more beams to support my soon to be ceiling.
Grabbing a few branches off the ground, I measured the height that I wanted for my ceiling. And since that I wanted an attic for me to store materials in, I was able to give myself an extra 3 feet before I would bump my head. With proper measurements done, I took my branch and went out to chop trees.
And soon enough, multiple wooden beams meant to support my future ceiling was built around me; with the most decorative of them being the beams that were installed beside my chimney's smoke-pipe.

It was still early when I finished building the ceiling; I dawned my new mustelid fur coat, grabbed my Spear and Javelins, then went outside to hunt myself some game.
I looked back at the bola that was attached to the wall, "I'll probably make use of you soon enough, for now though, the river isn't exactly your playground." I said with an affectionate smile.
With the afternoon sun behind my back, I rushed down the slope.
...
Faux arrived at the river in the Break of Dusk. Where a fog had risen from the extreme cold and the resulting water pressure from the waterfall.
The reptillian released a hot breath that mixed with the surrounding mist; and with a shiver, he pulled his coat closer.
A smile aroused from Faux's face, a grin- one that is of pure manic, of glee! Of excitement! With his gait long and his stride dignified; The Demon marched on, willfully ignorant of the surrounding bone freezing mist that surrounded him.
Only the rushing sounds of the raging river accompanied him on his trek, but, unfearful of his current situation, the reptillian continued his small journey; Thrill with a hint of Fear hiding within his eyes.
Whilst the demon continued his search for prey, a monster that could no longer bear the cold of the powerful river had risen from his home. The Fog had kept his skin moisturized- enabling him to breath on land, a new found strength and an oppurtunity that had rarely come, arrived and started ferociously banging on the Monster's un-hinged door; with a grin, he too, Marched on.
Left Right... Left Right- the monster's thick, leathery skin wobbled and bounced with each ground-shaking step. Purple Liquid Oozed out of the amphibians mouth, he had smelled prey, heard him? No, he felt him in the fog... just like how he sensed his prey as they swam beneath the waves. This too, had done the same, become ignorant of his presence... his... greatness...
A grunt came out of the colossal salamander's nose as he stood still and lowered his body, the resulting creature had seemingly ceased to exist; and on it's place was an immobile, yet organic rock.
And the reptile, ever oblivious of the up-coming danger, Faux continued to walk through the blinding mist.
The reptillian's thick fur coat changed color as it started to accumulate the moisture from the surrounding mist, it threatened to stick to his skin; making it wet and even more prone to the cold than ever before. Still, Faux continued on, his forked tongue flickering about.
And soon enough, the Beast's and the Demon's proximity got thinner, and the Salamander; sensing this oppurtunity- softened it's skin, tensed it's legs...
And pounced.
The Monster's massive maw emerged from the fog; the Salamander's surprise attacked had missed, but it wasn't fruitless.
Corrosive purple sludge filled with flesh eating bacteria dripped from the creature's mouth as it passed by, the toxic substance fell and made it's way on Faux's supposedly counter attacking tail; but the spikes he tried to shoot didn't fire.
Sizzling sounds came into existence as the solute made contact with the demon's scaley skin. The Reptillian yelled out in pain, but, he had once felt worse, Faux brandished his spear as he lowered his posture-
-the spears blunt tip made contact with the soaked earth beneath, the force from the solid ground helped the weapon hold on as the SpearHead tore through the Salamander's mouth, opening a massive gash that started out with the Venom filled Frenulum before going tearing through the monster's soft cheek. The blade only stopped it's incision once it met the creature's bony jaw.
...
"What the fuck?" I called out as I looked at my corroding spear. My weapon had melted almost immediately the moment it made contact with the purple ooze, seeing the state my weapon was in prompted me to look at my tail. I sighed, knowing what to do,
I broke off the remaining non-blackened stick from my spear, put it on my mouth, and then I pulled out my Javelin. "I fucking hope that this thing isn't just gonna come out of the fog as I do this..." I fearfully muttered.
With the Javelins needle pointing at the tip of my tail, the one that lacked spikes and was connected to my body- I raised my hand, and brought it down over and over, blood poured out and I had to Rip apart my new coat in order for me to stop the bleeding; but seeing my now rotten tail, I was glad that I had chopped that off before it had spread.
I stood up, doing my best to balance myself as the tail that had once did that job had been cut off, I looked around me, thick fog still obscured my already waning vision. "Fuck me. The blood that spilled out isn't going to go back anytime soon." And as I complained, a voice echoed within my head-
The forest's guardian said she knows where a tribe of intelligent creatures reside within her forest, she's willing to let you know if you kill this thing. The possibility of trading and assistance doesn't sound too bad no?
"Of course she knows where a tribe lives, it's her domain jackass." I replied as I raised my weapon, "fine then, I'll kill this thing. Not that I was planning in running away anyways."
