It was early in that afternoon the Zayne brothers decided to have some fun in Times Square. However, someone was waiting for them at the entrance of the Nintendo store. None other than the assistant district attorney Jocelyn Shane, flanked by two policemen for protection. As the Zayne brothers were making their way to their car, the smiling district attorney subtly bid them farewell.

“Rahkaze Zayne, I didn’t know a guy like you was a huge Nintendo buff…” Jocelyn baited.

Any time, Rahkaze would have turned around and bitten Jocelyn’s head off. But he wasn’t going to give her the satisfaction.

She later then turns her attention to his baby brother, “looking good, Morrie. It looks like the Spartan workout is doing wonders for you. Now are going to have every tight body female throwing their asses at you nonstop,” Jocelyn swooned.

Jocelyn took it a step further by stepping in front of Mordechai and placing her hand on his well-sculpted bicep, giving get a gentle squeeze as she leaned in, “Mordechai, listen. Don’t take it the wrong way. But there is a fine saying about the ‘sins of the father?’ I just don’t want to see a bright young prospect like you bear anyone’s cross…”

Whether or not an issue is being snide or sincere, didn’t really matter. It was a complete insult. However, Mordechai will respond to her the best way possible: by genuinely give a smile and deflect the bully’s idle threat, “thanks, counselor. I’ll try to keep my feet on the ground.”

As both brothers inside the car and began to drive off, Jocelyn and her policeman looked on. She always had a gut feeling that Mordechai had already taken the mantle of “Memento,” but once again, she needs to prove it. Feeling Interpol would make the case she kicked over to homicide, it will only be a matter of time for the news media to spot a sighting of the new Memento Dark. When that happens, she will have him.

Meanwhile, in Oswego County, the home that Shayna built on takes about nine acres; a gated traditional Japanese house does not have a designated use for each room aside from the entrance area (genkan, 玄関), kitchen, bathroom, and toilet.

Any room can be a living room, dining room, study, or bedroom. This is possible because all the necessary furniture is portable, being stored in oshiire, a small section of the house (large closets) used for storage. It is important to note that in Japan, the living room is expressed as ima, living "space." This is because the size of a room can be changed by altering the partitioning. Large traditional houses often have only one ima (living room/space) under the roof, while the kitchen, bathroom, and toilet are attached on the side of the house as extensions.

Somewhat similar to modern offices, partitions within the house are created by fusuma, sliding doors made from wood and paper, which are portable and easily removed. Fusuma seal each partition from top to bottom so it can create a mini room within the house.

On the edge of a house are rōka, wooden-floored passages, that are similar to hallways. Rōka and ima are partitioned by shōji, sliding, and portable doors that are also made from paper and wood. Unlike fusuma, the paper used for shōji is fragile, so outside light can pass through into the house.

This was before glass began to be used for sliding doors. Rōka and outside of the house are either partitioned by walls or portable wooden boards that are used to seal the house at night. Extended roofs protect the rōka from getting wet when it rains, except during typhoon season, where the house gets sealed completely. Roofs of traditional houses in Japan are made of wood and clay, with tiled or thatched areas on top.

Riding in an orange SUV, a visitor makes their way to the gate of Shayna’s home. The elderly female driver rolls down their window and speaks into the intercom, “Mrs. Abigail Grace.”

“Welcome back,” the guard responded. “But first, you must answer three riddles for you to gain passage in the Killer Queen’s lair.”

“Well, I’m all up for playing little stupid ass games, Daryl. By the way, how is Shayna’s blood sugar count? I have her medicine right here. So, open the fucking door!” Abigail demanded. In two seconds, the gate opened, and she could drive right in.

“Fucking idiots…” Abagail cursed under her breath.

Putting the car in park and shutting off the engine, Abigail came out of the SUV donning a long winter coat and a fur hat. Getting her satchel from the backseat of the car, she didn’t even bother locking it, knowing it won’t take long.

Abigail Grace is Shayna’s defense lawyer and has been under retainer for the past 10 years. Not batting an eye of Shayna’s lifestyle since she has dealt weirder clients before.

Making her way inside the house, she follows tradition wiping off her snow-covered boots and take them off before she gets inside to walk around. Afterward, she hangs up her coat and hat and walks straight into Killer Queens’ bedroom, where she is pacing back and forth, mumbling to herself.

Getting a closer look at her deteriorating state, Abigail walks in unannounced, “Shayna, are you all right? You should be in bed.”

Getting her attention, Shayna turns around to see her lawyer. She was slightly older than her doppelgänger. She had dark circles around her eyes, and they were bloodshot. And she has been sweating through her robe. Sadly, Shayna came down with the flu a week ago, and she called up one of her replacements to take her place.

Panicking, the delirious Shayna talks to her lawyer, “Abigail, Adrian is not picking up her phone. I don’t know what is going on.” Abigail shakes her head in disappointment as Shayna is still in denial, “I didn’t hear back from… We supposed to… We meant to… Have those crates right now… There’s a lot of money on the line. You got the documents, right? Right?!”

Abigail depressingly sighs as she reached into her satchel and takes out Shayna’s medicine, “here, take this. It will make you feel better.”

Shayna walks over to her lawyer and takes medicine from her. It was a flexipen containing her insulin and her pain medication. Shayna walks over to her dresser drawer and begins to administer her medication, “I ran out of insulin about a day ago.”

“I know, and it was actually a week ago. That is why I sent a rush order from Oswego County to get it,” Abigail explained as Shayna injected herself with the insulin. Getting immediate relief, she felt better already as Shayna took her pain medication and flu medication.

Shayna took a deep breath as she begins to feel like her old self again. A few hours later went past as Abigail decided to stay with her until she knew Shayna felt better. She made some green tea for Shayna. Abigail went back to her room and gave her the drink.

Then, Abigail decided to talk about what happened yesterday, “it’s all over the news now, Shayna. Those mercs turned that warehouse into a meat market. They even killed your stand-in, Haydee!”

“Is not my fault that Haydee fucked up!” Shayna snapped. “All Haydee had to do was give them the papers to sign, take them, and leave. But that is the last time I hire an actor on craigslist.”

“That poor kid is in a morgue because of you, Shayna. It’s all in a matter of time before they find out that’s not you on the slab,” Abigail argues.

Shayna scoffs at the idea, “I guess you can say this is a sign. Probably, me coming down with the flu was the best thing that ever happened to me after all. If I ever want to see the age of 55 next month, having a few people take a bullet for me is not that bad either.”

Suddenly, the smartphone rings as she fishes it out of his pocket. It was a text from Adrian which read, “dead-end.”

Only Shayna only knew what that meant as he panics, “Fuck! Don’t do this to me! After all, I have fucking did for you…!” Immediately, Shayna sprints over to her walk-in closet and pulls out her red robe and sets it on his bed.

“I told you before dealing with psychos like Adrian are dangerous,” Abigail clarifies. “You honestly think that she cares about you? She has been using you from the beginning.”

Reflecting on her lawyer’s words, Shayna came up with a revelation of her own, “you’re right, Abigail, they all had been using me all this time.”

This makes Abigail happy as she smiles. But it would be short-lived as Shayna herself clarifies her pending actions, “I’m going to have to go to the city tonight and get the cargo myself. I’m gonna rally the troops.”

Abigail never felt so worried and disgusted with someone in her entire life. All she can do was shake her head in disappointment.
