《Cross Roads: God's Reminder (Book Two)》Chapter 3

Several minutes later, two Oleander Syndicate members arrived at the scene. One of them was a blonde wolf girl with tan skin named Ryoko Shimizu.
Trust fund babies are a dime a dozen in the world of the filthy rich. Spoiled and entitled does fit Ryoko Shimizu’s personality to the letter. What makes it worse is that she is not only beautiful, but she is strong, intelligent, and not afraid to flaunt it. With the right guidance and discipline, she could shine brighter than the sun itself, but she would instead dim her own light with their own darkness.
She was accompanied by her friend and colleague, who was a brown wolf girl with pale skin named Kayla Anderson.
Being influenced by cartoon heroes and best-selling science fiction novels, Kayla Anderson always wanted to be a hero. A peaceful yet sleepy town of Luxembourg wasn’t going to cut it for her thrill of adventure. She wanted to see the world and save it from evildoers.
Lazy to a fault, she does have the motivation to become a great leader and a great warrior. Her motivation is a family and her friends and wants to make sure that they all live peacefully. However, getting that “true ending” is not as easy in video games and books.
Before this would become an official crime scene for the police, they dispatched by Adrian Eichner herself to get to the bottom of this horrific crime. But this was a top priority because of the people who are now dead.
Both Kayla and Ryoko surveyed the area carefully as the first thing they saw when they enter the crime scene, was a banner written in red paint in a language they didn’t understand.
“Okey-dokey, this is some fucked up shit,” Ryoko announced.
“I mean, I heard about the Red Arrow mending fences with us, but my God,” Kayla pointed out as she surveyed the area.

“Oh yeah. These old fogeys…,” Ryoko teased as Kayla went around the room, examining the dead bodies.
“Shayna Hu, their Killer Queen from the Red Arrow. And four of her senior advisors,” Kayla identified.
“And don’t forget a dozen bodies our killer stacked outside of the warehouse,” Ryoko added.
Then, Kayla made a quick revelation, “For fuck sake, these guys are the Red Arrow’s political branch. And with Shayna dead, Xerxes will now he have his own assassination squad with Amy in charge now.”
“So, why are we here again? Do we still get paid?” Ryoko rambles on as Kayla paid attention to the banner stapled on the wall. “I bet ya any money, that’s blood. Just straight up blood. I don’t even know why anybody would do stuff like that now. Why don’t they just use--”
While Ryoko tried to get another word in, she was stuck in the neck with a dart. Immediately, she felt dizzy and collapsed to the ground. Kayla sees this and rushes to her partner. But it was too late; she was completely unconscious. Feeling somebody walking behind her, she pulls out her kunai and turns around, preparing to fight who was behind her only to be greeted by a tall, muscular man wearing a dark purple lightweight bowhunters jacket with matching tactical pants. He was dressed in a pair of reflecting goggles covering his eyes.
Diaras had many titles over the years, being revered as either angels from heaven or devils from hell. Diaras usually have wings like a bird. They are many types of diaras, and you can always tell by the color scheme of their feathers, and in this case, the male diara had a mixture of royal purple and royal blue feathers.
“Mrs. Anderson, it is an honor to meet you,” The diara politely greeted in a low garbled voice. “However, this is a bit out of your jurisdiction, what brings you here all the way from Madrid?”

Kayla eased up on her guard, but she was still cautious, “Memento. I thought you were retired…”
“I didn’t know I was popular around amongst the ladies in the syndicate. And its Memento Dark,” the male diara frits. “One of the victims is in critical condition, but he’ll live along with another one who suffered second-degree burns on his entire face. Turns out our un-sub used a Lye-based compound and mixed into the foam.”
“These were all Xerxes’ opposition inside the red arrow. He did this to take over…” Kayla assumes.
“Unlikely, Mrs. Anderson,” Memento Dark corrected. “To them, when their Grandmaster died, they wanted unity in the Coalition.”
This made Kayla roll her eyes, “So, Ideology? That is why they are all dead?”
Memento Dark shrugged his shoulders while surveying the area, “It’s obvious they weren’t planning on attacking anyone. However, judging by the documents that were left behind in a hurry, it seems one of your superiors was in the middle of a business deal, and someone had other plans. This time, Eichner and Hu weren’t involved in a double-cross. This was more of a reckoning.”
This made Kayla sigh in despair, “Okay, so how do you want to work this?”
“There’s nothing we can do. However, your work is done here for now. I suggest, Mrs. Anderson, that you call your daughters. They’re worried sick about you,” Memento Dark mocked with a grin as this upsets Kayla.
“What the hell do you know about my daughters?!”
Suddenly, Ryoko tries to wake up and points her fingers at the guy who drugged her, wants to shoot him with her light beam, “ya sneaky son of a bitch!”
Immediately, Kayla stopped her as she merely turns around to see Memento Dark, only to see no one behind her. Baffled by the encounter but more baffling about the banner that was left for everyone to see. It wasn’t painted in red blood. It was regular paint. Paint you can buy in any hardware store. The language that was written in was in Aramaic. A simple question that everyone will get to answer real soon; “do you understand?”

Dragonfall: Enchantment
Sebastian only wanted one thing in life. A nice safe profession that let him stay behind the town's walls. His mother had other ideas, however. She insisted that he follow in his father's footsteps and become the town's greatest hunter, and as such she refused any and all apprenticeships he tried to secure. Sebastian's one solitary hope was that he possessed magic, and would be accepted into the Mage's Guild as a novice. Sometimes life gives you what you wish for, but in a way you never saw coming.

As this is my first work of any sort of writing, I would love it if you can give me any feedback you can think of. Hit me hard and hit me often, so I can make it better for everyone. Thank you! Authors Note #2. Some of the wonderful people reading this horrible attempt at literature have reviewed the Main Character as an unlikable a**hole that thinks everything is stupid or idiotic, while others have reviewed the Main Character as realistic and sarcastic. As the author, I think that both of these points are true, and if you, the reader, feel like you won't enjoy the MC being these things in your story, then it might be that this fiction is not for you. But if it is, then I welcome you with open arms. Thank you for your time.
