《An average adventurer.》8: Picking up the pieces.

The days after the ogre attack were filled with worry, citizens who had lost everything were panicked beyond belief, the leadership of the city had no idea how to prepare for the next attack.
I was perhaps the only person trying to think calmly and prepare, I had scoured my knowledge for any sort of method to defeat such an army of ogres and the few that I knew of required resources I simply didn't possess.
Automatic golem production, legendary weapons being mass produced, preparing a large magical barrier around the city.
They'd all work but I knew I needed a solid pitch to the mayor to get my plan into motion, so for three days and three nights I worked on designs for cheap but effective enchanted weapons as well as better golem designs and the schematics for a powerful magic barrier.
But I also made sure to try and think of ways to save the citizenry, I had an idea about forming a large bunker from the same materials my sword was made of.
With ideas in my head but no way to execute them, I focused for a while on emergency measures to increase power.
I tried all manner of experimental pills, blood enchantments, even the bone and flesh ritual from the beserkers book.
No immediate way to test the effectiveness, I continued to draw up plans for the defence measures whilst using transmutation to rebuild as many houses as I could to a liveable state.
There was a priority on my mind however, and I made sure to turn the inn into a much larger temporary house for the experimental subjects as well as many of the other street children.
I knew in my heart that if I wasn't as selfish, many less would have died and my grief stricken self wouldn't have been beat half to death by the ogre.

Although applying for the adventurers guild still wasn't something I was comfortable with, I had enough materials on hand to sell plenty of products to them.
Enchanted weapons, potions, magical gems were all sold over the remaining month.
By the end of it the city was turning its luck around, the people respected me as someone who had helped at least partially repair their homes.
The prospect of fighting against another ogre scared me, but what scared me more was the idea that I could cause more people to die by running away.
At the very last day of the month, it snowed.
It was the day I went to deliver my proposal to the cities leadership.
I approached the largely untouched grey building with a months worth of prepared statistics and battle data.
The meeting had been scheduled by me in advance so with no trouble getting in, I went directly to the room where a table of elderly men and women sat.
"Thank you all for giving me this opportunity, first of all.
Second, I would like the official backing of your council to create emergency defence measures against the ogres and their other forces.
Such measures would include these."
I inscribed a rune upon the ground and placed a very potent self recharging magical gem on the floor, within a few moments a tall metalic figure ascended from the floor.
It was taller than myself by quite a margin. It was formed with the black metal I used to create my blade and had several useful enchantments on it, unfortunately alchemical fusion could not be automated so the more phsyically resilient of the two worked better.
A striking metal figure shrouded in black, with tiny magic gems studding its fists to further augment its punches.
It stood tall as the best in golem tech, even my teacher would have been proud at such a design.

"This is a special combat golem I developed, it is capable of fighting against orcs and goblins without issue and although it couldn't beat an ogre one on one it would only take around one hundred to kill an ogre.
The best part is that each of these runes continually produces a golem at a rate of one every hour.
With ten of these runes we could have enough to kill five ogres within a few days.
But what if we had one hundred? Or one thousand? You must understand now why I'm trying to ask for your support."
They looked at me with intrigue, they likely had plenty of valuable magic gems stored and with them I could produce an army capable of taking on the ogres within the remaining two months.
"Thats not all, I have schematics to create a grand barrier over the city as well as similar automatic production runes to create C grade enchanted weaponry at a similar production rate."
With astonishment on their faces, the group talked amongst themselves before the elder in the very centre spoke.
"We have decided to grant you any resources at our disposal for the two month period, we will also allow you proper maps of the city and any sort of laboratory facilities you need for your task."
The elders were caught by my proposal, and catching such big fish left me with the utmost confidence to be able to create defences that the ogres couldn't even scratch.
I passed on some of my information and battle data for the golems, but I still had preparations to make on my own.
I wasn't content with just preparing, I wanted to ANNIHILATE the ogres.
The fight wasn't about adventuring, it was about pest control.

Galactic Economics
Humanity enters the galaxy and makes First Contact, only to begin to realize that not everything is at it seems. It appears that the galactic alien community has forgotten to invent some rather important economic concepts that human civilization has taken for granted. This is a look at a hypothetical galactic scale barter economy, how that would work, or how as one of our main characters Sarah realizes... it doesn't. And as the galaxy falls apart at the seams, it's up to the best and brightest in humanity to put things back together. Story contains a lot about markets, logistics, development, and the best and worst of human history. Not so much Space Marines nuking aliens. If you enjoyed the trade negotiations and Senate politics in the Star Wars prequels, and wished that there was an entire standalone story consisting solely of those parts, this might be for you! Galactic Economics is also posted on reddit here.
8 522The overgrown mansion
The main character returns to her deceased recluse uncle's home to get his effects in order. This is the beginning of a lovecraftian story inspired by somebody telling me about the Brombeermonster, a particulary nasty blackberry shrub overtaking her family's abandonned home. A backdrop for a story about eery and unexplained things if I ever heard about one. I will post the two parts I already posted on reddit; more maybe if there is interest from the community.

8 179Papercuts to Fell Immortals
Qing Shen is a girl from the counrtyside, forced into a role she never wanted by a Young Master who's infamy is spread throughout the land. As a Cultivator in the path to immortality, Qing Shen has to deal with her own problems as well as the mysteries surrounding her Young Master. Things, however, are not as they seem, and the young girl finds that sometimes the truth is more unbelievable than the lies we often follow. . . . If you want a less hidden-meaning summary: This story is about the struggles of one girl as she tries to become an Immortal. There won't be any meaningful romance, but there will be a plot that spans most of the story, and violence. Oh the violence! I'm not going to say that my ideas are 100% original (because hoo boy are there a lot of Wuxia), but hopefully I can write something entertaining. Guaranteed things: 1. Cliche events with a twist (I mean, it's literally in the description) 2. Important Characters will have backstories and motivations that will hopefully make them not one-dimensional (honestly, that's just normal stuff...) 3. Untrustworthy characters (everyone in the story lies, even me, so don't trust everything you read... but at the same time, trust everything you read) 4. Goodish grammar (not gonna say mine's the best, but it's readable in most cases) 5. Plot! (Everywhere!) 6. worldbuilding? (Should be there somewhere, but I probably won't do blatant info dumps... probably) 7. Character development? (Its there... at some point...) 8. The story gets dark at some points (if you don't like characters dying, then this might not be your cup of tea) 9. A strong main character? (She'll be strong, yes. However, her enemies are also strong. If everyone is strong, then is she no longer strong? My brain hurts) 10. Wow, this list is going on for awhile... uh, Believable and reasonable Action? (I mean, I'm writing for mainly my fun, so if I want a fight scene, then I might craft a scenario to explain it... or I might suddenly throw in a Dragon and call it a day) This story also goes by the same name over on Webnovel.com, but I'm going to be updating it here because, well I want to. They are both by me, and created by me. If there's anything that seems like a copy of another work, then that's just the genre being saturated by everything under the sun.

8 170The Brotherhood Archive:Crossroads(Revised)
All people great or small have a story - Patriarch Lord Theris'Heron Soletus, was on the verge of becoming a warden in the Dias Brotherhood until his father holds him back. Instead of proving his skill with culling monsters that plague the land, he is given an assignment different assignment. It isn't one that test doesn’t test his physical strength, but his strength of character. He is paired up with a shy and traumatized boy name Mien. Between Mien’s anxious behavior and the crime he committed, Soletus doesn’t know what to do or what to think. He wasn’t trained for the duty he is performing and has no idea if he is doing the right thing. However, when Soletus’s resolve to help starts to waiver, Mien does something unexpected and Soletus decides that the boy deserves a second chance not as an act of duty but as a friend. Hy'Ruh-Ha is a what I consider a chronicle fantasy. It is a fantasy drama coming of age story inspired by slice-of-life stories I've read and watched. It is heavy on the slice-of-life and does move slow. It is low-stakes fantasy. This particular story is romance free.(2 out the of 4 is re-uploaded under this title) And if you are someone who cares, the POV character is asexual. Crossroad(formally labeled as the intermission stories)- is a novella collection continuing the tale where Hy'ruh-Ha. The collection as followed: Wolf- After spending several months in the swamp post, Oeric'Sheldmartin returns to repair the chasm between him and his son, Soletus. However, a ghost from his past comes to haunt him and could ruin the life he's made completely. Note: Wolf is a bit of a character piece. POV character is Oeric. The Priest and the Priestess- A novella written in the POV of Mien and then Kiao after a series of unexpected events that change their lives. Mien's POV- Mien has spent the last couple of years working not only in the infirmary but training to become a combat chanter as part of his penitence. Then one day, a drug addled elf comes into infirmary and changes his perspective of a friend and puts his knowledge to the tests to figure out a mystery effecting children in town. *Spoiler warning* Kiao's POV- Kiao spent most of her time in the infirmary living the same daily secret filled life and until Mien changed it. Now she has to figure out her future in ways she never thought she would. I'm going for a Tues and Thurs day schedule for the re-upload. I may or may not stick in extra days.
