Six: Going For A Ride
The following morning found me still in town. I had found a place to sleep on a second floor apartment the night before - a half-collapsed building - and had brought in with me my new “treasures” – the climbing equipment I found, as well as the ropes. I sure wished the bikes were still usable.
I had enjoyed a nice meal last night. It was equivalent to a “Salisbury steak” complete with gravy and a side of vegetables. The only thing that detracted from it was that the steak was shaped like a brick, as usual, and the veggies and gravy was mixed in with the steak, and it wasn’t warm. But I don’t mind that anymore.
Seems the resequencer can reproduce more varied things if the organic material I put in was more than just leaves and twigs.
I also enjoyed a big portion of “cherry pie” but, again, it was all mushed into a package shaped like a brick. But who cares.
This morning, unfortunately, was more of the same since I had not had the opportunity to replenish the reservoir with more organics. But then I realized something.
I hurriedly switched off the sequencer and waited for the pack to seal the remaining organics in the usual cellulose bag.
As soon as it was done, I pulled it out.
In the transparent bag was what was perhaps half a liter of animal fat and grease as well as other bits of things I’d rather not look at. Yes!
I went through the remnants of stuff in the apartment and found what I was looking for - a couple of glass bottles. I don’t know what they contained originally but they were just what I wanted.
I gingerly poured the oil and grease off and into the bottles, and it yielded two half-full bottles of oil.

I got my new “loot,” my precious bottles and everything else, and headed back to the bike shop.
Once I was there, I took a look at the two bikes again. This time, I inspected them in more detail, and everything seemed to be in order, except that they could do with a lot of lubrication.
I looked for some tools and broke them down to their component parts. I then soaked them in the animal fat, and after a while, I started moving them around, especially the chain.
The ages of hardened dirt, dust and rusty iron yielded to my manipulations. The thicker animal grease I saved for the wheel and steering column hubs and, by lunchtime, I had a working bike, save for the tires.
What I used as replacement tires was some of the climbing ropes. They had a large enough cross-sectional diameter that they fit in the rims. I then cut them to the proper lengths, melted the ends and butted the melted ends together. Et voila! Instant puncture-immune tires!
I picked the bike that I had assembled using parts from both bikes, and broke down the rest of the parts for spares.
I then rummaged around and found two big wire baskets, and mounted one to the front handlebars and another over the back wheel guard, and then filled them with the parts and the other “loot.”
Hopefully the oil doesn’t get too rancid too quickly.
Anyway, here I go on my bike!
And as I pedaled away, my head was filled with Queen’s “Bicycle Ride” and “C’mon Let Me Ride” by Skylar Grey and Eminem.

Noble
"Then, let joyous news be delivered to those who pass their lives in peace, For it takes only one twist of fate to throw their lives upside down And for those who unfortunate enough to encounter the whims of fate, Let it be reminded to them, that even their lives repeat a hundred times..." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lys Ravenlicht was no hero, nor was he a brave man. He was someone who had the better things in life and figured that he'd tread upon the path his late father had prepared for him as an appointed noble and a politician in his home country and he had no business whatsoever of being a hero. And yet, it took only one twist, one twist of fate, before all plans he had laid out for the rest of his life went down the tubes. Join him as he traverse the lands of Fymia, where the arcane had faded into the annals of time and yet persist in the most mundane of things. And as he found himself dragged deeper into a catastrophic series of events that would change his perception of the world, and the course of history for the world itself... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author's comments: The story was meant to be a satire of the Japanese animanga tropes.... until it got out of hand to the point I'm not sure it's a satire anymore. I hope you can find enjoyment in it nonetheless.

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic. All the while as she fatten herself up. So yeah, progression fantasy. But there's Litrpg! Numbers! Magic! Spells! And of course! There's something more. But read on ahead, please. Oh yes. Plot! There is, too. Disclaimer: The cover isn't made by me. Just layered it with a text. I got it from a free website, if I correctly recall. I'll see to it. (Haven't worked on it.)

One Piece: The Elder Twin
(Previously known as Being Luffy isn't Lucky) An utterly random person comes to their senses to find out that they're being dangled by their legs, not to mention that they feel some slight vertigo. Upon realisation, they discover that they've become... ahem, I mean they share a body with the one known as Monkey D. Luffy and they also have no idea who they are themselves! The one thing they do know? They used to be an absolute loner. (EDIT: So... a few months later and I come back to this and read like a few chapters. Only to realize the absolute rubbish the story and everything has become. There was many needlessly developed things that just waste chapters and don't even develop anything. The fiction's Mary Sue was horrendously developed. I'm just repeating myself to try and convey how terrible it developed... like seriously. IF I were to update the fiction again I would be thinking of improved concepts and ways to present everything which would contradict the entire way I previously presented everything.)
