《Infinity - Revival From Death》Chapter 13 - Resting at the Inn

Karen was standing in the middle of the dead bodies, staring at them. The white bone spear in her hands was now completely covered in blood. Its spearhead was also shattered. Her fierce expression had vanished, replaced by a calm expression.
“It appears that we have a small problem on our hands,” Karen said softly to Eliza.
“Yes, exactly, a very small problem in which we killed five people who we were absolutely not supposed to kill,” Eliza said, her voice tense. "Wouldn't it have been enough if we had just scared them a little?"
“Hey, don’t put all the blame on me. You also killed one of them” Karen said with a wronged expression. “Moreover, if we had simply let them go, they would have returned with more people. Also, it is not safe for us to let others know all of our stats were not measured in the guild”
"But wouldn't we be in a lot of trouble now that we've killed them?"
“It will only happen if there is a witness or their bodies are discovered,” Karen said with an evil glint in her eyes.
For a few moments, there was an anonymous silence between the two before Eliza broke it with, "What are you planning to do?"
“I have no plans to do anything. The one who will be doing the job will be yours” Karen again smiled faintly.
Eliza was taken aback. “What do you mean by that? What job will I be doing?”
“Don’t you have your inventory?”
“Yes, but it doesn’t store living beings”
“Well, they are dead now. So wouldn’t it be able to store their corpses?”
“Even if it was possible, my inventory space is so small that I wouldn’t even be able to store two of those corpses”
Karen wanted to say something, but her mouth was left hanging open after listening to Eliza’s answer. She contemplated for some time, but nothing came to her mind. Finally, she started to inspect the corpses. She found a pocketful of money and a few other useless things. Then she collected all their guild cards and walked towards her companion.
“What are we going to do now?” Eliza asked while resting on the ground. All the walking and fighting were starting to take their toll on her body.
Karen handed her the cards and replied, “Keep these in your inventory. If something happens to them or they are destroyed, the guild will know about it. But if we keep them in your inventory they will not be tracked down. As for the bodies, we can just burn them down to ashes”

“After this is over we are heading to a nearby inn to rest” Eliza stated and got up. She, along with Karen, brought all the bodies to one place.
"Please do the honors," Karen requested. “Don’t look at me like that. We need fire made out of mana to burn them to a crisp”
Eliza directed her glare at the corpses. She bent down and touched one of the corpses. Then she directed all her mana to her palm. After some time the corpses caught fire and started to burn.
Getting up, Eliza looked at Karen, “Happy”
“Very”
They made sure that the corpses were completely burned and only then left the alley.
“Let’s go to the inn Mystis told me about in her note” Eliza beamed.
“We can do that after visiting the black market” Karen flat out rejected her.
Eliza suddenly stopped walking.
“What is it now Eliza?” Karen also stopped and observed Eliza’s pouting face.
“We can’t get there now” Eliza answered in a dejected voice.
“What do you mean by we can’t go?” Karen asked with arched eyebrows. It was the first time she had heard about it.
“As you can see I am not a demon. Unlike you, I am so exhausted that even walking is proving difficult for me. And as for the black market, it only opens at night therefore it is called Night Market” Eliza truthfully answered.
“And why am I hearing about it just now?" Karen smilingly asked Eliza but instead of comforting her the ominous smile sent a shiver down her spine.
“I was just so excited at first that I forgot to mention it” Eliza meekly answered.
Karen just stood still at her place for some time. After some contemplating, she said, “Okay, I have decided. As you were so excited about going to an inn you must surely know a good one nearby”
“Definitely! There is a good one nearby and the Night Market is also just a short distance away from it” Eliza excitedly said. Finally, she will get to eat some edible food and take a bath in warm water.
“It is just past midday so we have a lot of free time on our hands. For now, we can go there and rest there until nightfall. Then at midnight, we will go to the Night Market” Karen said while looking at Eliza, who was grinning from ear to ear.
“Leave the road to me” Eliza enthusiastically offered her service. Although Karen wanted to refuse she didn’t know the way around here and the note from Mystis was in Eliza’s hands. In this situation, all she could do was follow behind.

Eliza quickly made her way through large streets and narrow alleys. After nearly half an hour of rushing, they arrived at their destination.
They were standing in front of a very humble-looking inn. The most conspicuous thing about it was that it was situated in a very wealthy area.
“Are you sure that this is the right one?” Karen dubiously asked.
“Yes, this is the one. Its service must be excellent, so don't be fooled by its appearance. " Eliza replied with a bright smile.
They both entered the inn together. There were very few customers sitting around the hall/dining area. The smell of food drifted throughout the hall. Although the building was old, it was well maintained. The monsters sitting across the room ignored the two newcomers and minded their own business.
A young Oni girl was standing behind the receptionist desk, a small black horn protruding out of her forehead. She was lazily playing with the ledger in her hand. Sensing the approach of the new pair she put down the ledger and became attentive. She wasn’t able to see their faces as they were disguised.
“How much for a night?” Karen asked the Oni girl after reaching the reception desk.
“It depends. We have normal rooms and also special service rooms where you can also take a bath," said the Oni girl.
Eliza’s eyes glowed after hearing this. She quickly pulled at the hem of Karen’s dress. ‘I want the one with the bath’ she transmitted.
“How much for a special room for two?” Karen asked the Oni.
“It will be ten yellow denyrs per night”
“Isn’t it a little too expensive?” Karen was astonished at the price.
“Of course not. Even your food is paid for with this money. Moreover, we also guarantee total safety every night", Oni girl explained.
Karen wanted to argue a little more, but Eliza pulled her hand.
“Any other nearby inn would be more expensive than this. And we are only intending to stay here for today so let it be,” Eliza spoke in her ear.
Karen gazed at her for a few moments and then looking at the Oni said, “Give us a special room for two.”
The Oni took out a key from under her desk and handed it to Karen. “Go to the second floor. Your room will be the first one on the left” she instructed.
“We would like to take a warm bath so quickly bring warm water to our room” Karen instructed and climbed up the stairs with Eliza.
Their room was pretty neat and clean. There was a large bed big enough for two people occupying nearly half of the room. Beside it, there was a wooden table and a few chairs. There was a door at one side of the room, without a doubt leading to the bathroom.
Eliza just marched in, removed her disguise, and jumped on the fluffy bed. “It feels like I’m in heaven after sleeping outside for all the previous days”
Karen also removed her disguise and sat on a chair. She started to count the money she had with her.
“So how many days can we stay here with that?" Eliza wasn’t able to hide her curiosity.
“A week”
“That’s too little”
“Don’t worry. We’ll be staying outside in the wilderness most of the time”
This left Eliza speechless. She quickly picked up one pillow and stored it in her inventory. Looking at this Karen started to laugh without restraint.
“You do the most unpredictable things”
“I’m just looking out for myself” Eliza replied with embarrassment.
Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door. Karen opened the door and found a maid standing outside. She was carrying a wooden bucket filled with hot water. Karen took the bucket and ordered food to be prepared.
“Your hot water is here, ”she handed the bucket to Eliza, who quickly took it and rushed to the bathroom.
Sometime after they both had taken a bath, their food was delivered to their room.
"Karen, why is there no meat here?" Eliza was looking forward to enjoying some meat after drinking only pulp for the previous week.
“Trust me, the meat in Hell tastes horrible. Just eating one bite will make you feel like vomiting” Karen warned.
As soon as the food was served, Elizabeth nodded her head in acknowledgment and began to eat. It was just simple bread with spicy broth and a few side dishes but it felt like the most delicious food she had ever tasted in her life. She immediately drifted off to sleep after eating her fill.
Karen also started to prepare for the long night ahead.
