《Forged From Flesh》Chapter 38:Hunting scarabs

“Hey System do I have any storage space or something similar to that”, Arthur Asked the system.
Immediately a tab opened up, which stated on top of it, 1 cubic meter.
Arthur had a weird look on his face, but still, he placed the loaf of bread in it, he decided to farm at least for 20 points before going in, as he decided to be safe than to be sorry.
Arthur proceeded to run around the hallway with the sword stabbing all the scarabs that are coming out of the cracks from the wall and the floor.
Swoosh
Puchik
After about an hour, Arthur finally managed to accumulate 20 points, he sat down on the floor trying to catch his breath, after 5 minutes Arthur stood up and walked towards the door and pushed it, as soon as he pushed the door, it opened without any resistance.
Arthur took a step in and found himself standing in a viridescent grass field, this is how the dungeons are usually inside, there are some exceptions as well as some dungeons have a labyrinth layout, but most of them have an environment built-in as well, Arthur looked around vigilantly, but only could see tall green grass all around him, there were no trees or rather he was not able to see them.
Arthur moved around slowly, carefully listening to all the movements.
Hiss~
He suddenly heard a hissing sound, Arthur concentrated to find where the sound is coming from and slowly moved towards it, and soon reached the location and found a beetle that looked like a watermelon seed, But its size was extremely large, as it was actually in the size of a house cat.
Arthur slowly inhaled and lifted his sword up and decided to ambush it.
He leaped from the ground with his sword.
Stab~
Clang~
But the sword instead of penetrating just slipped to the side after hitting it, and metal like sound reverberated, Arthur could not react on time as he hit his face on the scarabs back, and rolled down, The scarab which was startled immediately unfurled its wings and took off, Arthur slowly stood up as blood dripped from his nose.
'What the heck is with all this, everything is so strong! Or am I the one who is extremely weak?' After rubbing his nose using a kerchief, Arthur moved again, even though blood stopped dripping there was still a stinging pain.
After another five minutes of searching Arthur finally found a cricket that was munching on a leaf, he soon bent down and slowly approached it looking for a perfect spot to kill it with one strike, but the cricket who heard the movement turned around and its eyes which were void of any colors stared at him.
Ahem
Arthur slowly stood up trying to back away, he took a step back, but the cricket immediately jumped at him at breakneck speed, Arthur was startled as he swung the sword at it, but the cricket nimbly dodged his pathetic sword swing hitting his chest, Arthur who was hit was sent flying for more than a dozen meters and a new pathway opened up in the grass, as a silhouette of a human figure was lying on the grass.

Arthur slowly kneeled and tried to stabilize him and he coughed up a mouth full of blood, He looked at the Armor and was relieved that the Armor did not have any dent, He knew for sure that if not for the Armor he would have surely died, The cricket which saw him still alive after taking a hit, immediately hopped again, this time Arthur did not panic or step away, he concentrated with all his remaining strength and lifted the sword which was he using for support, Arthur did not stand up, and with both hand, in the hilt, he lifted the sword, but instead of slashing down, he swiftly pointed straight at the incoming cricket while tightly anchoring him to the ground with his leg, the cricket which was in the midair was unable to react as a sword suddenly appeared right before its eyes.
Puchik
The cricket was stabbed straight through its eyes as the sword pierced deep through its body and only the hilt of the sword remained outside in Arthur’s hand, Arthur was pushed back about a couple of feet and a path that was a couple of inches deep was formed. Arthur dropped the sword in the ground as his hands trembled.
[Ding +1 point for successfully killing an E- ranked Cricket]
Arthur could not even take rest as he heard movements coming around him a strong scent of blood spread through the Air, Arthur stood up and gripped the sword hilt and stepped on the cricket's face, and pulled out the sword, He did not have time to check for cores, as he felt if he stayed there, he won't be able to survive for sure.
Arthur walked slowly as he thought, ‘I should have stayed out and should have farmed for another couple of hours",
Arthur took a piece of bread from his storage space and munched on it, as he was not willing to buy a hp potion and his injuries were only minor, and moreover, he did not have enough points to spend lavishly, After another hour, Arthur was standing a little bit away from a hole on the earth, and he observed it carefully, after about ten minutes Arthur saw a mud ball rolling out from the burrow and a beetle was pushing it from behind, Arthur watched it as it rolled the mud out and went back inside again, and after another ten minutes, it brought another ball of mud.
Arthur bent down and smeared mud all over his body, Armor and his sword as well, And he slowly crawled and went to the place where the beetle was disposing the mud, and waited there patiently, the beetle soon came out, Arthur who was waiting for their patiently lifted his sword and gripped it tightly and lunged on the beetle, He stabbed his sword straight through the small gap that was connecting its body and the head.

Swoosh
Puchik
The beetle squirmed around in pain for a couple of seconds before its body went limp.
Arthur heaved a sigh of relief as this worked, otherwise him making any progress is just a pipe dream. He slowly shook and moved the sword, and soon sliced the beetle's neck from its body, blood gushed out like a stream, the beetle was pretty large, and it was a size of a small calf. Arthur without hesitation inserted his hand inside its head and began to move around searching for the core.
Nothing?
Arthur was a little disappointed as beast cores are high-value goods and an E-ranked beats core value is currently 1000 dollars and if he could bring back the whole body, the price is even higher, Arthur could only shake his head, as his system storage only allows him a cubic meter of space and obviously it can't fit something this large.
Arthur proceeded to cover the beetle's body with mud as he did not want any unwanted visitors, and after covering the beetle carcass with mud, he proceeded to smear some mud on his armor and his sword removing the bloodstain and the scent.
Arthur crawled inside the burrow, and he took out his mobile and turned on the flashlight, and continued to crawl in, after about ten minutes of crawling he finally reached the exit of the tunnel, he soon turned off his mobile as he did not have to waste any charge, and don’t know when he would be able to leave the dungeon, Arthur felt weak all over his body and he felt that he needed to take rest, that’s the main reason why he found this place and waited for this long.
Arthur went to the system store and purchased a bottle of water from the system store and his heart bled, he took an oath that he will definitely purchase water and food as much as he can and would store it in the storage space.
Arthur took a piece of bread and munched on it and soon the loaf of bread was over, he felt that he should have sliced some meat from the beetle to eat, but he felt nauseous as it was an insect, but he can't run away from it as one needs to consume monster meat to get strong, that’s how one can reach the maximum potential and that the reason why the carcass of a beast is valued a lot, and it was currently a hot-selling commodity on the outside world and everyone was fighting to get a piece, he also heard that it also tastes extremely good, but the thing is, it takes some time and the result is not immediate.
Arthur soon fell asleep as he could not go out and unearth the beetle that he have buried.
Next day.
Arthur woke up, but his body felt sore all over and he was having difficulty moving as the load on his body started to react. Arthur crawled out of the burrow with difficulty, and after coming out he stretched his arms and legs relaxing his muscles and the discomfort on his muscle subsided a little.
Arthur proceeded to move out looking for his next prey, And he soon reached an open area and slowly peeked from behind the grass, as he could hear wing sounds, He saw a large number of dragonflies, each about a meter long was flying over the water and some were landing on the tall grass. Arthur gulped hard as their large eyes looked especially scary and their mouth, even so, he felt that his bones will be crushed with a
single bite if he is not careful.
Arthur bent down and crawled towards a dragonfly that was a little bit away from the rest, and was currently perching on the grass. Arthur crawled towards it slowly and lifted his sword while he was standing behind the dragonfly, due to its large vision as soon as she stood up the dragonfly flapped its wings attempting to take off, Arthur did not wait as he clutched the sword with his both hands and swung at it, chopping its head off, Arthur only dared to hunt the dragonflies as he knows that the weakest part of the dragonflies are their neck as they are extremely thin and fragile, The dragonflies wings slowed down and halted, soon its body dropped down, Arthur did not wait and moved the head of the dragonfly to his storage and moved away.
He continued to proceed to his next victim and after about two hours, his storage space was full and it was filled with six heads.
Arthur stopped the hunt as he figured out that he will be soon discovered as the bodies of the headless dragonflies were lying around, Arthur while killing his last victim, sliced open its body and took out all the flesh he can scavenge for and stored them in his storage space, he proceeded to move towards the burrow, Arthur have noticed yesterday itself that this place was desolate and there were not any bugs nearby.
