We set out while the rays from the sun were starting to fade. Moonlight started to stream across the night skies.Stars revealed themselves, their radiant lights dotting the fading light. The house we were in was now completely unseen. The foliage prevented us from seeing it back. We walked and walked until we saw a couple of figures in the trees. They were green, ugly, and hideous. They were the so called goblins.
"Found them, 4 of them. Just a scouting team it seems. I'll leave just one for you okay? Make sure not to die."
"..."
I didn't reply, for some reason my heart beat was rising. What if I died? ...No, I need to stay calm.
Adrenaline was starting to pump, as my heart beat thumped louder and louder... This was not sympathy. I was feeling afraid and nervous.
"Aha. Scared? Mmmhh, that's the reaction of every newbie. Good to see that you aren't an inhuman psychopath from the start."
"What are you then, a demon?" Arci replied silently.
"Aha, lets not talk about that. It's good that your nervous, because that would make you raise your guard up.
However, make sure so that you dont get too afraid. Feeling fear in the middle of a fight will get yourself
killed. Don't worry, I'm here if things get tough."
I dont want to fail. I want to win. If Dain intervenes, then that's already a failure. There will be chances next time but... Dain wont be there. If i can't get used to fighting those things, how am i going to live in this world?
"Alright then, lets begin... Shall we?"
Thump.
"Yooo!!! What's up! How are you four doing? May i ask you a question?"
"Guakk! Kyak!"
The goblins turned around. They looked confused for a moment, and after that. They screamed.

"Aha! I forgot! This is not a question. This is an order! An absolute order that you lowly beings aren't able to resist. Be experience for my junior to advance, okay?"
"Ga-"
Their voice was cut short. Something invisible cut the head of the goblin. Wind. This was Dain's wind magic.
"Gwue-"
Another one. It's head was lopped off by invisible winds.
The remaining two started to run. They knew that they couldn't win against whatever was in front of them.
In their eyes.
"Ahh, that's not good. You two can't run."
Dain then proceeded to decapitate another goblin. The goblin that watched it's fellow species decapitation, fell. It was in fear. It was scared.
"Your turn." Dain told me.
Thump.
My feet went forward. I had the iron dagger in my hands, however I did not know any combat techniques.
The more i realized it... This was suicide.
(However... That goblin isn't in the best condition right now.)
The goblin proceeded to stand up, albeit shaking. I could see its ugly face. It was disgusting, however it was filled with tears... These things have emotions.
(Can't get sympathetic... Sorry, I'll have to kill you...)
However, it wasn't that easy. The goblin then took out a dagger, it was quite old. I could see rust forming on it.
(Maybe i could break it someh- !!!)
My thoughts were cut short. The goblin suddenly rushed at me, while screaming.
(Shit! Dodge!!)
I sidestepped with all my might. However, I was too slow. The dagger was able to cut the left side of my chest. This thing aimed for my heart. I could feel the stinging pain from the wound that was caused by the dagger.
(Aaah fuck! That really hurt's!)
It was a light cut, but i could feel so much pain. Blood started to pour from my wound, dirtying the clothes i wore.

( I have to counter-attack!)
I quickly turned towards the goblin. It immediately charged forward again. However, i successfully managed to dodge its strike. I then slash its hand that tried to stab me. However, the goblin then immediately shifted its arms. It slashed in a line, almost hitting my chest.
(Damn! How can this thing be so nimble?)
I exclaimed in my mind. The goblin then proceeded to back away from me, finishing its combo.
But after a couple of seconds, it then charged again at me towards the left. It was trying to stab my heart.
It held its dagger in front of itself, running as if it was either do or die.
I then braced myself, preparing to counter the impact. I was about to quickly sidestep and then stab its side.
However, contrary to what i was expecting. The goblin jumped.
(Shit!)
I tried to evade, however it's dagger lightly grazed my left arm. I felt the stinging pain again.
This was not as easy as i thought. I thought they would attack recklessly, however these things were
smart enough not to. They weren't simple.
However, the goblin made a mistake. It did not land correctly, and it tumbled.
(Chance!)
I immediately took advantage of it. I quickly kicked it as it tried to get up. I kicked it, again, again, and again. I was venting my anger. It let go of its dagger, and I made a fatal mistake. I tried to pick up the dagger it dropped. The goblin then bit my arm with its mouth.
(Aaaah! Fuck! Fuck!)
I could feel its teeth digging onto my flesh. Taking control of myself, and resisting the pain, I shoved my dagger onto its body.
Stab.
The blood got on to my face.
Stab.
I could feel its mouth weakening.
Stab.
It's feet and arms shook in pain.
Stab.
The blood splattered on the ground.
Stab.
It's jaws loosened enough for me to take my arm off.
Stab.
It died.
...
Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab. I kept dropping the blade of the iron dagger on It's dead body.
"Ryan..."
(This fucking thing!)
I was angry. This disgusting thing hurt me. I could feel pain from my bleeding wounds. How dare this thing
stab me.
I turned it around to stab it even more. I felt so much anger, I wanted to rip this thing to shreds. Every. Single. Part. Of. It.
However, once i took a look at its face. I stopped.
(...What am i doing?)
The face of the dead goblin had tears, and snot. I realized it tried to avenge its friends, even though it knew its only option was death.
The blood started to form a pool, it was a bit brown. It was dirty.
Just like me.
(Fuck... Fuck!)
I dropped the dagger on the ground. And then i looked up.
It was already night time. The stars were out, shining its rays upon the forest. The rays that didn't hit the trees dropped down to the ground, right on top of the goblin.
I then realized.
It was cold tonight.

Jake Steel is just your average gamer who on occasion, goes back to his favourite conquests to revel in the slaughter. Then one day life kind of gives him lemons and he decides he might as well get on with it. This isn't a story with some crazy thought out plot line originating from an unsuspecting dark past. Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
