JANUARY 5TH

“I have to talk to you, to ask you about something.” I started.

He again nodded, “Go on.”

“It’s not going to be easy, but I need you to be honest with me if we’re going to do this.”

“Be honest about what?”

Okay, here goes nothing.

“Why are you really here?” I asked.

“What…are you asking me?”Taken aback and fully erect he started again with a raised tone of voice.“You already know why I’m here; we’ve been over this.”

“Have we really?” I drilled. “Okay, stop me if I’m wrong- something just doesn’t add up about your story. It was on the front page of every paper worldwide the following morning. But you just don’t exemplify the image of a cold-blooded man slaughtering deranged maniac. Why is that?”

He was clearly upset by my interrogation, raking me with freezing resentment. “As I said before, we’ve been over this.” After dropping his folded arms and rolling his eyes, he started towards the door. “Are we done here?”

I maintained my disposition then decided to slightly change my approach. I went straight up to him then placed one hand on his shoulder, “I can’t force you to talk, but if you want to, I am here for you.” I smiled, then I began to walk away.

“Stop…” he gave out in a morose tone. “If we do this, and you betray my trust, I will never forgive you.”

I turned around and walked back towards, “Fair enough.” I responded.“Shall we sit?”

“Fine.” He agreed.

We walked over to a remote section of the bathroom and sat down. “Not to rush you, but we have to make this quick. There’s not much time left before that alarm goes off.”

“Okay, then shut up and listen.”

I never met my Dad. My mothersaid that shehad a one night stand with a guyshemet at a party and didn’t realize she was pregnant until weeks later. When shetriedto contact the man, no one knewwho he was or who even invited him to the party. Anyways, she raised me all on her own until was two.Thenshemet a guy name, Dennis. They fell in love and quickly got married. One year later, they welcomed to this world, the most adorable baby boy you’d ever seen.Hehadbigbright Hazel eyes, adorable pink lips, and curlyblack hair as soft as clouds and incredibly milky white skin. His gorgeousness landed him in TV commercials and small movie roles. As we grew older, hestarted to decline offers for roles, stating that hewanted to focus more on school and how to have a normal life.

He was adored and loved by everyone. But we soon realized that Alec just wasn’t happy, and no one knew the cause of it. When hebecame a teenager, hestartedhaving constant fights with our parents. Our close relation became strained. He was no longer spending time with me. We used to go out to play sports or play video games. Dennis became frustrated with his behavior after wanting him to do more shows to help the family out financially, but Alec refused. What why? No one knew and he refused to tell us. His behavior was puzzling and he became an enigma.

Until one day, I stumbled upon the truth.

‘Hey bro, I know you said to leave you alone for a few hours but I have a surprise for you. How would you like to go…”

Icame to a steady halt and froze. The glove and ballfell from my hands and a look of terror washed over him. Dumfounded I stood unable to process the sight before me.

Alarmed by the small commotion coming from his room, our mom came to investigate. “Boys, what’s going on in… Ahh!”She screamed for bloody murder at the top of her lungs.

Dennis came running up the steps, what’s going on in... What the fuck!”He shouted in revulsion.

Alec stood frightened and ashamed. With tears welling up in his eyes, he began to shout at us. “Get out of my room! Get out!”

Nearly passed out, my mom wobbled her way after having taken Dennis by the hand. He kicked me out, and I stood leaned up against his door for hours, just trying to process everything.

Alec went out for several hours that day and never came back until it was almost midnight. When he finally came back, he told us how he was unhappy because he was sick and tired of living a lie. That he doesn’t feel as though he was being true to himself and he’d had enough. It took us a while, but mom and I accepted him for who he was. But not Dennis, he despised his own son- hated him even!

On December 31st when I got home, I went up to Alexandra’s room to find her but she wasn’t there.I had come home for her birthday just as I’d promised every year.I was early because Ihad a surprise for her. When Isaw that she wasn’t in her room or mine’s, Idecided to head over to her friend Carly to check if she’s there.

But upon passing my mom’s room, I heard something strange. The noise made me particularly uncomfortable because it sounded as if someone was in pain and crying. My mom was at work and wouldn’t be home for hours so my spidey senses starting going haywire.

Iapproached the door to turn the knob, hopingI would findDennisjacking off to some Weird Sci-fi based Adult film. But, what I found nearly killed me. Myheart caved in and I for a moment lost consciousness in mylegs.Tearsran down myface when Isaw her in pain, in tears…

And then, I lost it.

“You really did kill him?”

“Yes.” He cried. “And you know what, I would do it again. He deserved to die for what he did to Alexandra. My only regret is that I wasn’t there to protect her at the very beginning. I could’ve prevented it.”

“Wait…” I stumbled, “You’ve said too much, too quickly." I rose up grabbing a hold my chin, I think I am a bit confused. Who's Alexandra and What does she have to do with Alec?”

“Nick… Alexandra is Alec.”
