With Tango drooling on my shoulder, we finally slow down, "Raid Center, I'm pulling up." *Fox? Sorry about-* "Yeah, yeah, just let us in." After a moment, we move through the compound slow and then to a stop. "Zero, could you put the APC in the garage?" "Sure, you get Tango, then."
Before she opens the sliding door, I keep her from falling out. It opens and Fox smiles. I lean into my shoulder and swallow, "Try not to wake her." "Wouldn't dream of it."
She carries her like a baby to the women's bunkhouse. Zero suddenly pushes me against the car, "Now she knows what raids look like. Happy?" I frown, "You think I wanted to have her see that?" He lets go of me and gets in the car,
"Her death will be on you, Bolt!" He drives off before I walk in and hop in my bunk. Why didn't I push her away? I need to mold her now, all while preventing some asshole's death.
Zero slaps my cheek, "Morning." "Zero." He throws me some fatigues, "Strap up and meet us outside." "I got it, I'm an ass!" After putting them on, I exit. A group in the same fatigues stand just outside the door. Tango nudges me, "What is this?"
I yawn, "Raid training, you still want this?" She stares off and then looks back with a smile, "Yeah" Zero glares at
me as someone comes up to us.
"Attention!" They all straighten their backs and salute. Tango smiles while looking over, "You in the back!" I roll my eyes and stand up straight. "Welcome to raid training, first up, C Q C!" His own group of men come up in black uniforms, helmets too.

I roll my left shoulder around as everyone partners up. A man with big bionic arms, covered in bubble wrap marches up, six feet tall. "Holy shit. It's the feral cheetah kid." His plate reads, Gladius Verez.
I rub my shoulder, then put my hands up. "It's the gorilla." He puts his arms up and inches closer. He goes to punch, so I move out the way, grab his arm and make him topple. After that, a pretend stomp goes to his head. "You've already learned this shit, Army?" "Iron Maiden." He gets up, smiling. "Go again?" I grin while banging my knuckles together.

Awakening
A potent tale of self-discovery. Centuries ago, the prophetic Golden Age ended in war, and history spiraled into darkness... Now, only scholars retain the last portent of the mythic city A'lara, concealed in a distant glade for the advent of the dragon mage. At the edge of the Known World, the slave Larin escapes her new lord before she meets his dark masters. Deep in the mountains, the legendary elf Kingard awaits his call to battle. When young Darek flees imperial mages tasked to exterminate shape-shifters, he launches them all on a voyage to redeem their unsought destiny. United by fate and guided by prophesy, their growing band of fugitives journey for A'lara to fight the ancient evil infiltrating the capital. But looming over the gears of fate, their enemies follow the same prophesies. With the unknown close upon them, Kingard and his allies face a mortal quest to restore their infected empire. Praise for Awakening: If you love Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkien and Tad Williams, then Awakening is a novel you will surely want to pick up. D.N.Frost is a consummate world-builder with a knack for creating characters that are complex and three-dimensional. Frost writes with graceful prose that is descriptive and well-edited. The plot is fast-paced and entertaining. What really sets this novel apart is the cartography, which is a spectacular accomplishment. Incredible world-building! - M.L. Spencer, author of The Rhenwars Saga ★★★★★ This novel was published in 2014, and it includes 19 antique watercolor maps! Check them out: Maps of Awakening: an atlas directory

Demon Hunters
Far in the future, the last two viable cities in the western hemisphere – Technoburbia and New Baravia – struggle for control over a vast and largely desolate land. Officially they are at war. In practice, the war has been a stalemate for a generation, the disputed frontier between the two city-states never moving. In the city of New Baravia itself, a vast circular concrete wall keeps its inhabitants in, and its refugees out. For its citizens, life is monotonous and unequal, with enormous wealth in the hands of nobles, criminal gangs, and entertainment bosses. It is the last of these that control the hit entertainment show, “Demon Hunters”. A chance, perhaps, for the ordinary man or woman to rise up, and change their fate... This LitRPG novella is based around a futuristic battle-royale situation, partly set in VR, and partly in a post-apocalyptic city. The story features combat and action, some strong language, and lots of great characters that will stick with you! [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
