《just another dungeon》1: glorious rebirth

I walked through the streets after a long day. the sky pelted me with rain. It was a miserable day. I walked across the road with a sandwich in my mouth and then,
SLAM!!!
A truck rammed into my side, knocking the wind out of my lungs and shattering my bones. I collapsed on the floor, my body refusing to move and a loud ringing runs amock in my mind. the world around me became blurry. My breathing became strained and painful, the world around me grew dim. Then blackness took its hold.
I found myself floating in a dark void. In front of me was an imposing figure made of white light.
"What the…” I spluttered.
“Greetings, I have a proposition for you,” boomed the voice of the figure
“Who or, what are you,” I said, “are you, god?”
"I'm not god, I just rule over the void in between worlds,” the being said, its monotone voice echoing throughout existence.
“You mentioned a deal of some kind,” I asked, puzzled.
“Ah yes, I thought you might want a second chance at life, although it shall be in a new form,” it said in an emotionless tone.
“What, new form exactly?” I asked with suspicion in my voice.
“I shall reincarnate you as a dungeon,” it said, there was a hint of excitement within my voice.
"How can I be reincarnated into something that’s not living and have another go at life,” I asked, I was losing hope that this would amount to anything.
“You shall be reborn into a world where dungeons are alive, having thoughts and feelings like you,” the god-like entity explained
I couldn't believe what I was hearing, this can't be true it must be some sort of hallucination, I began questioning my sanity.
“Also, I've introduced something familiar to you to help you along but other than that I will not help you,” the god-like being finished speaking
I snapped out of my mental breakdown and focused on what the god thing had just said
“What, you won’t help me, why?” I asked “I can’t do this all alone,”
“And with that, this meeting is adjourned,” then, suddenly, the large entity vanished and I was left alone to float there.
Then a blinding light filled my vision, once the light faded I found myself in a circular stone room with a single corridor leading to a shut stone door. I tried to move, but my body refused. I tried pushing outwards to escape this crystal prison but to no avail. I tried giving it one last try push with all my might. I managed free and felt my consciousness flow out into the surroundings
“I guess I'm officially a dungeon now, a mere crystal,” I smirked and walked towards the closed door.
I began to focus on the door, willing it to open, the door swung open, rays of golden sunlight shining into the small room. I felt rejuvenated and revitalised. then, a box of text appeared in the bottom left-hand side of my vision.

Your dungeon has been opened up to the world
Maximum mana capacity is now 20
“wait a minute, is this an interface,” the dungeon shouted, shocked.
the box of text disappeared the moment I finished reading it. In the top right corner of my vision, there was a small text box that showed the amount of mana I had, I currently had 20/20. then, another text box popped up.
Do you wish to choose your starting monster?
“yes,” the dungeon said, still unsure as to whether this was real.
A list of monsters appeared in the centre of my vision.
Choose one:
Goblin Kobold Ent Golem Slime
I finally snapped out of my doubt and began looking at the problem as I would with one of my game dev projects. I began eliminating options in my head, Well, goblins are too stupid and won’t pose much of a threat, slimes are also very basic and not threatening which leaves Kobolds, Ents and golems.
I pondered this for a moment, the golems will probably start pretty weak, I thought, and in a fight, Ents can easily overpower a kobold. With that, I made my decision.
“Ents, that’s my choice,” I shouted.
Ents have now been discovered. You may now create Ents.
Okay, but how do I create them, I thought.
“Create Ent,” I shouted, nothing happened.
Well, it was worth a try, I thought and then shrugged. Then, a tall humanoid made of wood appeared, it had green eyes and a thin mouth as well as the odd branches sticking out of my back or legs, it was about seven feet tall. Well, I guess that works. the dungeon looked at my mana stores and it had gone down by 5. I should probably create more shouldn’t I, the dungeon thought.
“create three Ents,” I shouted.
My thoughts slowed, as immense tiredness washed over me, I then lost consciousness. When I woke up, I found myself once again inside the crystal, but it was a lot easier to escape this time, like walking through water. When I exited the crystal I found four Ents kneeling before me.
“Uhmm, hello there,” the dungeon said Hesitantly. Why were they bowing? “Can you speak?” I asked them.
“Not much,” the Ent on the far right said.
Tell me, how do I make more stuff?” I asked the Ents although I doubted they knew.
"We do not know," replied the ent on the far right, the other ents shrugged in agreement.
I had assumed as much so I thought back to my previous life, in the few dungeon stories I read online, the dungeon absorbs stuff and I can create whatever I absorb. Now the question was, how do you get stuff. the dungeon decided to just send out my ents and see what happens
“Ent's, I ask that you collect me some stuff from the outside,” the dungeon requested.

the Ents obliged and began to leave the dungeon, but an invisible force stopped them from leaving.
Do you wish to let these Ents leave? this cost will be 12 mana.
“Yes,” I said, irritated by the fact I had to pay for my minions to leave although it did make sense.
You do not have enough mana, Do you wish to let one leave for 3 mana instead?
“Fine,” I said with a sigh, “one of you go the rest come back,”
the Ent closest to the exit left and the rest returned to me. the remaining Ents stood idly by as they awaited new orders. the dungeon sat down on the stone floor and waited for the Ent that left to return. there wasn’t much to do until my new materials arrived. the dungeon decided to sleep until the Ent returned. It would kill the time as well as save me from boredom. So I laid down and gazed up at the stone ceiling, I kept trying to drift off to sleep but was unable to do so. the dungeon thought about this for a second, whenever I would pass out I would always wake up in my crystal so perhaps the crystal is where I'm supposed to go to get rest the dungeon looked at the pulsing crystal that reminded me of a beating heart. I stood up and walked over to the crystal. I placed my hand on it, I could feel it gently trying to pull me in, I allowed myself to be swallowed up by it as I entered a deep slumber.
I was woken up by the return of the Ent. I exited the crystal and looked at the Ent, it carried a pile of mainly twigs and rocks and whatever else was in there.
"I found these master," the Ent said before dumping the pile on the floor.
The dungeon focused on the pile and tried to absorb it, the pile quickly melted into a glowing blue liquid before it disappeared. the dungeon was quickly overwhelmed by a flurry of notifications.
Wood has been discovered, you may now create basic wooden items
Stone has been discovered, you may create basic stone items
Forest sparrow egg has been discovered, you may now create forest sparrow eggs
Soil has been discovered, you may now create soil
Grass has been discovered, you may now create grass
Generic beetle has been discovered, you may now create generic beetle
Daisy has been discovered, you may now create daisies.
I also noticed that my mana levels had gone up slightly. there were a few other minor additions. This gave me an idea, I could make the first level of my dungeon mainly a forest, this should challenge any 'player' who enters my dungeon. This was just like the game development work I did in my old life but I get to see people play and it's just more fun in general.
"alter dungeon layout," the dungeon shouted, hoping the UI would help out
Would you like to alter the dungeon layout? Doing so will cost mana.
"yes," the dungeon replied
I felt power bubbling inside of me. I began increasing the size of the room dramatically, it felt like I was pushing against the walls with my hands, it was probably about half the size of a Roman amphitheatre by the time I was done expanding. the corridor was basically no more so I moved the room backwards to extend the corridor
"done," I shout out.
these changes will cost you 20 mana, do you wish to confirm the changes?
"yes," the dungeon agreed hastily.
All the energy began draining out of me and my thoughts came to a halt as I fell unconscious once again. WIn I woke up and left the confines of the crystal, I found my Ents were roaming around a large amount of space the room now had. A notification then popped up
Maximum mana capacity increased to 25
I guess more space means I can have more mana I assumed. I looked at my mana stores and found that I currently had 12 mana available. I should probably create baskets for the Ents to gather better.
"create a wooden basket," I said
A wooden basket appeared in front of me. I looked at my mana stores, I had spent 3 mana on the basket.
"Two of you go out and collect stuff and put it in the basket, be quick and focus on living things," the dungeon order
the dungeon watches as the two Ents left the dungeon and the mana drained away, leaving me with a mere three mana. the dungeon was pondering a name as I thought Dan the dungeon sounded silly. I eventually settled on the name Von, and that is how I shall Henceforth be known
"I wish there was a way to see the cost of an item as well as just handy info on it," I said aloud, then a notification appeared
Do you wish to view the info of an item?
"yes," I said
Which item would you like to view?
I pondered this for a moment.
"soil," I said
name: soil mana cost: 1 description: soil is basically just dirt with nutrients in it
"create soil," the dungeon said
How much would you like?
“Enough to cover the floor and make it 4 feet deep,” I said
Then, the floor suddenly started spewing out dirt as if it was water until the floor was completely covered. The ents stumbled and then fell over due to the shifting ground. my forest is coming on nicely, the dungeon thought.
