Chapter 4- Oh man is this really happening? Heavens give me strength please!
*countless heavy sounds in the distance cause harsh vibrations in the air*
Meanwhile, just as my head is stuck extremely close to the ground listening to these fast approaching steps, the ground vibrates and it feels like a dinosaur is crushing my senses causing a jarring pain in my head. My body even starts to freeze in panic but i fight this with all the strength in my bones as i don't have long so i try to compose myself. You know the situation i am going through starts to come to light in my head.
All this with the revelation of the true reality of me having to face two wolves from ancient times... Man they even have fantasy abilities that are like so out of whack when you think about it in the mind of a 21st century human ah! You know then again my whole situation is like it is out of a fantasy book with the reincarnation cliché isn't it... Ah whatever just think about the consequences of failure Connor mate you have got to do this well and without delay right now!
*Heavy breathing now accompanies the heavy sounds occupying my senses*
Man i swear i can smell their saliva i think as i gaincomposure and in my head i imagine said saliva coming out of their crocodile like wolf jaws but i quickly shake that thought away and get ready to pounce on the hungry mutts!
*Sound of rocks scraping against their massive claws as they near me*
And thus with the recovery of all my MP and Stamina (sadly it seems my HP can't regenerate due to yet another hidden effect of ~Revived~), i ready my mind for battle (and conveniently forget that my opponents can regenerate as well oops) and launch myself out of the ditch i occupied like a pouncing possum!
My thoughts start racing at a million miles an hour but i am clear that as i look around my surroudings that i will attack the closest which is... THE ALPHA, i am coming for you, you big oaf! I think while bracing for a Claw Swipe and hoping for the stunning effect to activate on the first hit. I manage to hit it on its side doing damage of...
{Swiping Claw hits Giant Common Alpha Wolf for 3 damage with a extra 1 damage for *blindsided* attack with an additional effect of *stunning* the Alpha Wolf for 1 min reduced to 30 secs due to size difference}
And so with that lucky break, i start to combo as many hits in 30 seconds as possible on two separate body parts by burrowing under the alpha's legs, this is to hopefully activate a bonus of *crippling* which must be a thing i say don't you agree...

"Burrow"
All is silent as i wait out the regeneration of what little stamina i used. Though while i am thinking this, there is still the sound of that still approaching clueless yet utterly loyal normal wolf coming to meet its doom *Cough* i mean its pack leader. Hmm to it, it must seem like its mighty pack leader has met its match... A hole in the ground ha ha!
"Burrow"
*The sound of earth crashing down along with a thump resounds in the surroundings*
{User activates the ability burrow a total of 2 times to bury the front legs of the Alpha Wolf using 1.8 stamina in total and using up 18 seconds of the stun duration for this attack phase}
After that successfully works, i start to think of the next step of my plan which is...
That an attack of mine will cause the alpha wolf's body to be knocked back. However, the greatness of my plan will come to light after the fact. So since its two front legs will stay firmly planted in the ground when the knockback effect happens, its body will try real hard to take the legs backwards with the force of the impact. If i am right, this powerful force should result in the legs bending backwards and the alpha wolf crippling both of its front legs.
In my head, all of this will result in a easy kill for me before the second wolf gets here and if common game logic is applied, the second wolf will become enraged as such due to my actions and the pain filled howls that i expect from the Alpha. Now all i have to do is see if my plan will work as well as i hope it will when it is put into action...
"Man do i hope everything goes to plan" i mumble as i activate "Claw Swipe" to hit the sadly still alive alpha wolf for what is hopefully the last time as what little stamina i have drains out of my body. In real life this would supposably leave my body limp sprawled on the ground after the fact but not in the fantasy land i have been thrown into it seems which is good for me since i would be dead if not for this odd outlier of sorts. Anyway thankfully it exists
Oh lord, am i really thinking of things in my head so much that my most used emoji has imprinted itself in my head? I never thought i would say this as an extreme introvert but i need human contact!!!
I get interrupted from my mid-lif... (wait just a minute, i ain't having no mid-life crisis! I was in the spring of my young adult life before i died... Well i was meant to be at least...) e crisis by the ever so familiar sound that i am getting scarily accustomed to every further time i spend in this crazy world... The dreaded ping! This time it goes off more than once so hopefully at least one of them is a bit of good news since i am still executing my life or death plan...

{Swiping Claw hits Giant Common Alpha Wolf for 3 damage with a extra 1 damage for attacking the Alpha Wolf while it is *stunned*. Extra effects of crippling two of its front legs causing disablement and bleeding}
{The 30 second duration of *Stunned* has run out. Giant Common Alpha Wolf has regained movement.}

{Unique Sub-Skill: Negotiation ?- Ranting- Has failed to take effect due to only an immune enemy being in range of its skill range}
I smile for what seems like the first time in an eternity despite that later message not being a great cherry on top but then my newly discovered danger senses activate in quick succession which is not a good thing oh god. I think all this as i move with all of my might out of the way of the danger being projected! I then hear a ominous seeming version of that ping sound and i even start hearing some real intense battle music in the background like i am in a game. That changed in pitch ping sound can't mean anything good can it? I think gloomily as i look at the notification that just appeared in front of me with what feels like forsaken hope and numbed emotions...
{Due to reaching a certain death state, Giant Common Wolf Alpha has activated its Special Ability Active: Sacrifice for the Pack there by sacrificing its last surviving pack member for temporary *magic*, +2 Sp Attack and +1 Agility for 30 seconds for every 6 stamina used. Wolf Alpha currently has 15/20 Stamina and 8 MP with an attack delay of 5 seconds between every magic attack whether they miss or hit the target.}
Temporary *Magic* granted by Active Sacrifice for the Pack- Current Sp A of 2: Fireball- Casts a small ball of fire dealing user's Sp A as its damage if hit. Single- Every cast lasts for 10 seconds- Max of 1 at a time Fiery Frenzy- Cast a small flame burst around you for protection and deals 0.5 the user's Sp A if hit and deals close range AOE damage near the user. Support- Every cast lasts for 10 seconds- Max of 1 at a time Fire Wheel- Casts a large wheel of fire dealing 2x the user's Sp A if hit. Multiple- Every cast lasts for 10 seconds- Max of 1 at a time
Oh come on man, i know i kind of forgot about this special ability's active but this is way too much! I have 5 HP so getting hit once by that fire wheel ability means i have 1 HP which can only survive one burst of that fire shield thing...
Ah i might as well attack him before he figures out how to use that fiery frenzy ability of his since i am very flammable right now and that will me very much alight. Ah look on the bright side, i only need to survive this bombardment for 1 minute as he is bleeding out but still i have 1 magic skill and he has 3. That is damn unfair system, what are you doing! I have had enough of this damn you!
Yet another tribulation that Connor has to fight to survive, is he ever gonna get a break and finally get a body that isn't just a revived dead thing? Find out next time on...

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
