The leader barked some rough command then pointed for the guards to deal with Adil. The guards dragged him by the scruff of his shirt. The pain was so great Adil couldn't help but hyperventilate through his teeth, the wound on his leg bleeding a trail as he was dragged.
Adil could just make out the orders the goblin leader laid out for his followers.
"He come from death. Hold, questions," the leader said.
The goblins pulled Adil further the inside of the camp and tore off his bow, arrows, and sword before throwing him into a cage.
Adil still wheezing from the pain saw that the goblins had not chased after Swift. He realized then he was likely a bait for the others to come.
“Uuuurgh”. Adil groaned. He was grating his teeth as he further tried to suppress the pain. Some of the other goblins were visibly getting annoyed.
One of the armoured ones let out a noise, something as a cross between a grunt and a roar at the sight of Adil, and moved over to him, he pushed a canister of whatever they had been drinking towards Adil.
Adil drank tup some of the glowing liquid and immediately felt less pain. It was refreshing and awkward to get such a gift from his captors. Another goblin, one of the many drunk ones came up to the cage and burped some vomit through the bars.
“You fucking human shirt” the goblin said. The words came to Adil like perfect English, perfect drunk English anyway.
“Fuuukk youuuuu” Adil replied, the goblin taken back, also understanding the words.
“You think you're better than me? we fucking rape your but, we will rape you in the fucking but!” The goblin exclaimed. The armoured goblin grunted in response turning back to staring into a fire him and other armoured goblins sat around.

“Your mother is a hamster, and your father smells of elderberries.” Adil added in a strangely drunk French goblin accent.
The goblin was about to start on a torrent of rampaging insults when *BOOOOOM* a flaming boulder came crashing down. The bolder demolished some makeshift barricades just to the side of the cage. The camp erupted into shouts and action all the goblins taken back by what happened.
Then Seras appeared having surfed down the side of the rocky chasm on her shield, a flaming battle-axe in each hand. Following her, a slower-moving Swift gently slid down at a respectably slower pace.
looking around in the panicked commotion Seras let out a great roar, and spun both her axes around, slamming open the cage and freeing Adil before starting on the rest of the goblins. Swift rushed to Adil, the crossbow-bolt had managed to go through his leg, so Swift broke the top off and pulled the rest out.
Swift pulled out the troll potion form Seras and opened it to pour some on the wound. “Anything?” He asked. “No,” Adil replied. Swift gave him the rest to drink and Adil was thankful, as he drank it, he felt a strange energy rush into the core of his being. The wound on Adil's leg started to close before healing from the inside, two uses left in the vial.
Swift then turned to the goblins, the weaker ones appeared to cower and panic but the stronger stood their ground. As Sera focused on the three warriors clad in armour, the leader was nowhere to be seen. A non-armoured goblin came running towards Seras, and so Swift quickly threw a vial of tar at his face before casting a firebolt. The goblin fell back clawing at its face retching on the floor until Swift pulled him closer, wrestling the fighter into a different position and stabbing him in the belly. Adil, better than ever, downed the goblin’s brew and went over to get his bow.

Adil ran for his gear but only found the bow and arrows. One of the goblins had clearly taken the sword. Turning to face the others, Adil spotted Seras dancing around the three armoured goblins. Her flaming axes wooshing through the air.
Suddenly in a coordinated effort, the three advanced armoured goblins menacingly launched themselves towards Seras. As the first one came close she knocked him to the ground by a sweep on the leg. Then as the next one approached she immediately parried his attack with enough force to hit it away and put him off balance. Off-balance, it was easy enough to pull him into the way of the third goblin’s attack.
An axe had struck the shoulder of the held goblin. Seras snapped its neck before spartan kicking the body into the one attacking. knocking both bodies to the ground. Then the goblin on the ground saw an opening and launched his sword towards her, stabbing his jagged metal sword and chipping into Seras plate armour it got stuck. Almost uncaring from the attack Seras saw him trying to pull the sword out and slammed both her axes into the hapless creature’s head.
The last living armoured goblin was still pushing his dead comrade off him. Seeing the bloodied grin of Seras all he could do was crawl away. The fear and realization started seeping through, he knew he was finished. Adil mesmerised from what he saw noticed three sets of 240 XP delivered to Seras from a party icon.
Adil, cocked another of his arrows as he started trying his best to take aim at the panicked creatures. The first was at a goblin crossbowman, he hit it in the shoulder taking the crossbow out of his hands. The goblin got out its knife and started charging in, but Swift finished him off with a small stream of focused fire, charing its face.
Another goblin went running towards the big tent, Adil knew the leader must be in there and tried to stop the goblin before it was too late. He drew three in his hand, managed to shoot one in the goblin's leg, then the chest, and the last iron arrow Adil had hit the goblin in the head. The remaining goblins only cowered in fear and were easily mopped up.

Adil and Swift gave each other a high five before Adil went to collect a few arrows, finding his sword on a dead goblin with another charred face. Seras ignored them and only walked towards the large tent, Adil and swift followed closely behind not looting any of the goblins. As Seras opened the tent she seemed to stop.
“Oh, shit” Seras stated.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
