《Saga of Osin》Chapter 22

Kane felt her brother dying right away. They were twins and despite how wide and far she traveled there was a sense of connection between them. It might have been due to her talent.
However, the second he died she felt a sharp piercing pain right in her heart. Her chest tightened up and it felt like her entire torso was in pain. An immense pressure bound her body and made it hard for her to breathe.
This meant that Fort Kane had fallen as well. That fort can go to hell! He'd died for some stupid little city out here. What did it matter anyway if he wasn't alive?
A sense of futility filled her mind. She could feel the tears forming up in her eyes. "Let's camp here."
"But, the city is only a day's journey away."
"There's nothing left out there." Nothing.
A quiet hush descended over the group. They were trying to not be condescending or anything but the entire situation was awkward.
They reached the city about three days later. She hadn't cried yet. It was hard for her to express her grief in any form or way. She just didn't know what to do.
There was an entry where the meteor had crashed into the city wall. Her stomach took a lurch. They walked into the city and the first indications of something not being normal started coming forward.
There were human husks scattered around the city wall. They were soldiers, from their attires but what was this. What kind of spell could do something like this?
Her horse stepped on a person's hand and his arm collapsed into ash. That explained the ashy taste in her mouth. The fact that these could be human remains sickened her. The fact that her brother could be mixed in these, sickened her further.

She wanted to kill Helion. She just wanted to kill him. She didn't care if it took her the rest of her life to kill him, she had to do it. Certain things could only be settled by the promise of death. Her heart would know no solace until she killed him.
"Let's search for survivors." It would've been more efficient to split up and search but a small detachment might be waiting around to ambush them.

Ok, this is weird. After the series of weird notifications, a map popped up in front of my eyes. It's got a bunch of red dots moving around on it. It doesn't have any terrains, roads or buildings. It's just a blank slate with a bunch of dots on it.
The more pressing issue is, What does it mean by death? Do I really die? How does it happen? Do I just fall down with a heart attack? I just have so many questions. This world is like an onion. I understand something and it just leads to further confusion.
There doesn't seem to be a time limit on this quest so, I just leave it be. We're walking through the streets. Everybody is just quiet. It tends to happen when you're a wrung-out mummy. The streets are deserted and the houses are quiet.
However, it's obvious that those bodies are just lying in there doing nothing. We don't have an aim as to what to do after this. We're just trying to get out of the city. It's suffocating here.
My feet are pushing the ground but I don't feel it. A dull hum is ringing in my ears. This isn't good. According to the quest, I have to kill three people or I'll die. My party members are unaffected which means that they don't see this.

I twist my neck around and take a deep breath. I have to do this. If it's me or some other random person, I choose myself a hundred billion times.
The question is: Should I tell these guys about the quest? What if they decide to abandon me? My chances of survival are close to nill if that happens. However, if I don't tell them and they find out afterward, it'll destroy the trust I've built with them.
At the end of the day, I have to tell them. "I just received a quest." I don't think they heard me. I speak out louder.
"I just received a quest!" All of them turn towards me. "Do you mean a class quest?"
"RUN!" That's the first word that comes out of my mouth. I spot an entire group of soldiers mounted on horseback. They're decked out in full chainmail with beautiful swords sheathed at their sides.
We turn around and jump into an alleyway. It is blocked but we climb over it. Ake placed Moon on his back and we keep on running.
There's a wide-open street again and there's a knight right at the edge of the street. I hear a whizz and excruciating pain blooms out of my arm. The arrows lodged in my arm. Fatigue and nausea engulf me.
My mind is sharp and clear. It's screaming at me to keep on going, to not stop but my body won't listen. I fall down on the ground.
Shera turns back and hauls me over her arm. I think she intends to save me. I'm an asshole for doubting them, aren't I?
THWACK!
THWACK!
THWACK!
Three more arrow shots are launched and the rest of the party is on the ground. Guess this is the end for me...how do I manage to fuck up not once but twice? God, send me to heaven this time.

Some things aren't meant to be. Some things are. A hero isn't meant to be a demon, and a demon isn't meant to be a hero. But sometimes, what's isn't meant to happen will happen. A Man and His Greatsword
Michael Adkins is a unique 28-year-old man. Born with above average strength and emerald green eyes, he always wanted to live in a fantasy world. He was very much into fantasy light novels, manga, and anime, especially a certain one that involves a black armored man with a large greatsword. Michael always dreamed of going on an adventure in a fantasy world. On a whim, Michael is summoned by the god of Alorah, one of the fantasy worlds he had always read about! Alorah's God, Eden, gives Michael a choice of three bonuses and a custom class to take with him into Alorah. This is the start of Michael's fantasy adventures. P.S. This is my first novel, I'm writing this since there were little novels I've found with a main character that wields a greatsword. Don't expect anything good. There will be a lot of mistakes, so please help me with that! P.P.S The later chapters will (hopefully) be much less cringy than the early ones. Please give it a shot!
