《Saga of Osin》Chapter 16

There was a flaming pyre raging behind them and they barely escaped out of the window without getting burned. Ake could still feel the heat on his back. They landed on a rooftop covered in gravel.

It was much better than a rooftop crafted out of random stuff like mud and wood. Those ones leaked during the rain and you had to lather mud all over them during summer or winter depending on the village you lived in.

"You won't get away from me you idiots!" Something shrieked behind them and a fireball blasted into Ake's back.

Ake was launched forward but he managed to cushion his fall with a forward roll. Osin wasn't so lucky. Part of his upper back had burned up. This massive amount of pain was enough to wake him up.

.

I'm watching my brothers eat some food over a dinner table. Sweet and sour chicken with rice. It's brilliant. I don't know why I can't stop eating it and crying. They ask me why I'm crying a few times then leave me alone.

I can feel something dangerous heading for me right at this moment and I can't stop my anxiety about it, but I don't want to leave. I want to spend as much time here as possible.

My dream is interrupted by a searing, blazing pain coursing through my upper back. Its smack dab in the middle of wing-blades.

An immense clarity rushes through my mind as my body releases enough adrenaline for a horse.

I sit up and Ake's screaming at me to run over. There's a massive flame on the left side, I think we're on a roof. I have more than enough information to make a decision.

Avoid fire and get off the roof. I run after Ake and I launch off after him. I hear a whistling sound behind me and jump out of the way. Another fireball is on the ground. I want to see who's doing this but I have to get away first.

This time we go into a mad-dash and we're at the edge of the roof. Thank god, this building was built in a stair-step fashion. The last jump down to the ground is going to be a problem but before that it's fine.

We jump off and I'm not unaware of the high-ground we're giving our enemy. Each jump gets us farther away but it also provides our attacker with a greater advantage.

I grab Ake's arm, "We have to fight it! Otherwise, we can't get away!"

Shera slowed down and circled back to us. "He's right bro-"

Another fireball shrieks down at us and we scatter. This is very annoying. He or she is safe and sound up there while we're being bombarded.

"Shera, if you have any magic, you better use it now."

She smiled. It's a confident smile and I'm a little relieved for it, this is her fight.

"I just need to get in contact with his body, that's all."

"Where's Moon?" Did he not get captured or was he not in the cell?

"Moon, stay here."

"Can you use any spells to occupy or distract him for a few minutes?"

"Yes, I have just the thing."

Ake and I take a deep breath. I feel my tattered shirt brushing up against my back and I don't think I want to know how bad it is.

Ake moves down to the right and I move down to the left. The wall conceals our movement. Shera is with me. She launches a [Fireball] from the left side.

The mage has to be distracted for a few seconds. Now she runs all the way to the right and Ake is sitting there in a crouched position. She jumps on his back and he starts to crawl over the ledge to the other side.

His hands should be peeking a little bit over the ledge but it shouldn't be that obvious. I have to learn magic. If I had a fly spell I could just fly out of here or a massive earthquake type spell to lay waste to the building.

...

..

.

Ake strained and climbed over the ledge. The mage had just pelted the left side of the building and he was exhausted for a few seconds. Whatever, this spell was it took them a few minutes to do so.

There was always a brief pause after every launch. He placed Shera over, on the ground and rushed to the other end, he tried to be as quiet as possible.

Shera followed him. Ake picked up three of his fingers. 3...2...1...

They rushed into a sprint. The gravel was being crushed underneath them, it made them cringe. The few brief seconds turned into minutes in their eyes but Ake was at him first. He grabbed his arms and put him down in a matter of seconds.

Shera placed both of her hands on his chest and cast her strongest spell. It would put her under a lot of strain and she only had three uses every three months. She'd already used it once and on top of that, it would put a massive bullseye on her back.

[Extract Blood]

The blood started leaking out of the mage's orifices, he had some defensive spells that made his temperature rise but they weren't enough. Every single drop of his blood was extracted out of his face's offices, even his anus. It congealed together into a splendid ribbon.

Shera made sure to rummage through his body and grabbed the only thing on him, his robe, and started running.

The other guards had found a ladder now and they were climbing up from the sides of the buildings. Ake groaned, when would this be over. Not anytime soon.
